It is being updated and maintained for 1.5.2. Just like lots of other mods are updating for 1.7.10 instead of the last MC version.
Or, like someone already said: BTW is sitting comfortably in a throne of skulls. And that throne happens to be in 1.5.2.
haha, because the community is so active, I was confused about the mod version, because mAtmos displays 1.6.4 on its thread but the website has 1.7.10 downloads.
Why invest that amount of effort to turn horses into something that wouldn't break other systems? What would they bring to the game that would justify it?
Because personally, I just don't see any kind of new gameplay that they bring to the table that isn't already present through more interesting systems.
Back in the day before the release of 1.6, when I was still planning to update the mod to it, I had my own tentative plans for how I'd integrate horses into BTW. When it came out though and I had a good look at it and the horses themselves, the question that came to mind was "why am I doing this?", and it became clear to me that there was no reasonable justification for me to do so.
In other words, I do not think that there's anything about horses, or any feature that's been released since, that brings sufficient benefit to the game to justify the work involved in updating the mod to newer versions, and/or integrating the individual features, with the one possible exception of the slime blocks.
How do i install this with the new minecraft launcher (not really "new" anymore, but regardless) I put all the files in the 1.5.2 jar file, but nothing happens differently in the game when i open my profile with 1.5.2 on it. (and yes, i deleted metainf) How do i use this with the new launcher?

You need to do some file renaming and editing. Just do a quick search and you'll find plenty of instructions.

I also like few aesthetics things like carpets, armor stands etc. but those are minor features.
I would like to see carpets as well, I think the best(what a loaded word) way is to get it through the Deco Add-on if that ever gets updated. Aesthetic things are nice and FC has put in quite a few himself, but its a bit of a sidetrack as the mod is getting finished
I have a problem when I try to play BTW mod alongside Joypad mod (http://retro-hack.blogspot.com/p/minecraft-joypad-mod.html) .Minecraft crashes and I can't find a way to make those two work together.I was able to play BTW mod with Joypad mod in version 1.3.2,but now I can't make it work in 1.5.2.You can replicate the error by installing those two mods together in minecraft.jar.I would be very grateful if you could somehow fix it beacuse I really want to play this mod with my brother(split-screen).Thank you very much for all your effort and I hope you will find a way to make those two compatible.
Looking over the blogpage, It seems like the 1.5.2 version needs modloader to function. BtW no longer uses that API so you're probably encountering a class conflict (both mods overwriting the same Minecraft .class files).
--Edit--
If you just want controller support then a quick solution would be an external programme to map your controller buttons over your keyboard, then play MC with its default control setup.

And one question to FC: What do You think about worldgen from upper MC versions? I mean that biomes are located by "temperature" and pairs likie "Taiga next to Desert" no longer exists. Isn't it worth it to implement something like this in BTW? I'm not saying about update to new version (pointless generally, i know) but implementing new feature from upper version wchich is very important IMO. It changes completely the landscape and deepen immersion.
I have mixed feelings on it. Sure it "makes sense", but on the other hand, I think it also detracts from biome diversity and tends to make worlds more monochromatic, so I'm not convinced that gameplay benefits from it. For a fantasy world, I think the old system is fine.

Sorry man, but working towards compatibility with other mods really isn't my thing.
Also, I asked about a possibility of snow slabs last time. Its just for aesthetics, but yes, no?
Unless FC removed it, 1.5 was the version that added ability to stack snow cover by adding multiple snow layers (crafted like a slab recipe) on the same block. This actually gets even finer control to the height, with 8 different layers (and therefore heights) possible. Again, not sure if FC removed it, but its worth trying quickly to see if that feature is still there and gives the aesthetic look you are after.
Any chance of a Concentrated Hellfire back to Hellfire Dust coming up in the next release?
I ran out of coal dust and ended up with a ton of them that I don't need. Most things in BtW either have an alternative purpose or are reversible, but Concentrated Hellfire is pretty redundant once you have all the hibachi you need.
Concentrated Hellfire has a second use.
stick it under a beacon.
Also I don't think reversing it would make sense from an in-game perspective given its going through an alchemical change (like making gunpowder/steel/kibble/blasting oil ect).

Been loving this mod so far, and have made fairly good use of the BTW Wiki....then I found the BTW Forums, and I thought it was Awesome sauce. Even better I found the Coop Server's people are hosting, and this got me Uber Excited, so I wanted to post to one of the servers and get Whitelisted...well then my heart crumbled a bit as I realised you cannot register an account on the BTW Forum.
Alas...it says contact Board Administrator....but I cannot find that information anywhere...so Here I am asking if anyone know's how the heck to get registered on the BTW forum so that way I can check out some servers and meet some BTW People.

If you check the OP here, as it says, board registration is shut down from time to time due to trolling or what have you.
This is one such time, with the only solution being to wait until it's open again.
Open the 1.6+ launcher and make sure the version of Minecraft the mod requires is already installed.
Click "Edit Profile" in the launcher, then open the game directory.
Go into the subfolder "versions".
Rename the folder for the version you require to something else. In this example, rename "1.8.3" to "1.8.3_Modded".
Open the 1.8.3_Modded folder.
Rename "1.8.3.jar" to "1.8.3_Modded.jar".
Rename "1.8.3.json" to "1.8.3_Modded.json".
Open "1.8.3_Modded.json" with a text editor and replace "id":"1.8.3" with "id":"1.8.3_Modded", save the file and close it.
Open the jar file so you can see all the files in it. You can do this by changing the .jar to .zip and unzipping it. You only need the new jar folder and the json so delete everything else on that directory. No need for WinRAR or 7-Zip. Copy-paste the files into the "1.8.3_Modded" new jar folder.
Delete META-INF (If needed) . (Be sure to double check as to though whether or not the META-INF file needs to be deleted. Some mods may not run without it. If it doesn't and you save, you can always go back and delete it.)
Start the 1.6+ launcher.
Click "Edit Profile"
In "Use Version", select "1.8.3_Modded".
Click Save Profile.
Login and play as normal.

Is it possible to run this mod within Forge and minecraft 1.8? I saw the wiki tutorial teaching to create another customized profile to play it, however I run Optifine and Shaders, so I need this mod to run in my Forge profile...
And apparently Forge only read .jar files inside the mod folder.
I wonder why people in general are incapable of using the "search" feature on the website to answer their own questions, seeing how this is asked so often it's ridiculous.
This is a total conversion, so it's incompatible with all other mods by design.
And the version of minecraft you need to play this is 1.5.2, so no, not compatible with either forge nor MC 1.8
I don't know if there's a shader around that'd be compatible with BTW. I would've said that if you want one you'd have to make it yourself, but as far as I know FC has stopped granting permissions for new add ons.

Simple. Why spend 2 minutes on google when you can post in 30 seconds? human laziness knows no limit.
I thought Better Than Wolves is fairly close to medieval style. Then I tested new Hardcore Nether. Well. It's like medieval siege. With Ghasts. And lava. And psycho-hostile-zombies. But goal still remains the same - attack fortress!
Tunneling to get to fortress foundations. Above lava sea. Under heavy artillery... I mean Ghast fire. Hardcore Medieval Siege! In Hell!
Love it!
Hehe...glad you're enjoying it. Yeah, at some point I wanted to try and recreate the terror I felt back when I first entered the nether in vanilla MC. Back then, ghasts were plentiful and sticking your head above ground usually resulted in PTSD.
There's a lot of BTW's features that have actually been designed around trying to recreate that new player sensation
Along with encouraging player to go and taste every feature scattered around the world (Temples, Fortresess, Villages etc.), but have You noticed that there is still one absolutely no-go region? I mean that player probably won't never ever there - to Ocean Depths.
What ever happened to that old post about my adventures in the BTW underwater temples? They had diamond saws, steam power, and bootsies for the wolfsies feetsies.

I've heard that you can find something something there that allows you to use the 5x5 crafting grid, the one that enables obsidian tools and pipes.
