It's not then how do you install Buildcraft with it since buildcraft requires forge? I mean isn't this mod made to work with buildcraft?
Also it says there are sorce files to migrate away from forge, what does this mean then? But I guess I can live without forge but I really want it. Thanks any ways.
You have to use Better Then Buildcraft. That fixes it.

May the Force be with you. Unless you're a troll, in which case, may the farce be with you.
I don't know anything about NEI except what I just found by googleing it, but even the name copied TMI. NEI's thread seems to have been deleted at least once, and there was some business about copying one of TMI's class files. Doesn't seem very good. I'm sticking with TMI.

Yeah, I don't use similar programs myself, but if I did I'd probably stick with TMI just out of principle. Frankly, this is the kind of thing that might even motivate me to create a TMI compatibility patch if such a thing were necessary.
It's just a pretty scummy thing to do IMO, when people are creating mods for fun and to share with the community. By directly imitating a mod's feature set and then improving upon it, all you're doing is basically invalidating all the original mod-author's work if the new mod catches on.
That kind of thing might be acceptable in a business context, but in terms of recreational modding, I really see no justification for that kind of cut-throat ********. There's basically an infinite number of potential ideas that could be added to Minecraft, especially given its wide-open sandbox nature. So obviously trying to outdo another modder is just unnecessary.
to me, a bit of friendly rivalry is a good thing, as long as both sides agree to the "competition", if not, it's pretty scummish. I understand where you're coming from though, especially as it happened to you, yourself.
Not so much actually. You'll remember that my leaving the Forge was more directly motivated by Eloraam ripping-off SpaceToad and Albaka than ripping me off.
In terms of the feature ideas she copied from me, it came down to Flax/Hemp and the micro-blocks, neither of which I consider very important parts of the mod.
It was more the overall trends in her behavior that I found scummy, and which caused me to longer want to associate with her. Again, more a matter of principle that made me realize I really didn't like this person and didn't want to in any way be helping her with her "hostile takeover" of the modding scene.
Competition is fine in some contexts man, and I am certainly a fan of competitive gaming. However, if I spend x hours implementing an original idea, then move onto something else, only to have someone with an unkown amount of free time (which may provide a distinctly unlevel playing field) drag me back into it to try to outdo their version of the same thing, I do not consider that in any way fun or motivational towards doing even better in the future.
If I am inclined to compete, what it means is that I basically stop progressing in all areas other than the one my "opponent" has chosen to compete in, in a never-ending cycle of one-upmanship, and that I likely throw all concept of game-balance or performance out the window to provide ever more powerful versions of the same feature because that's exactly what they're doing.
Not my idea of a good time man, and I'd rather quit modding all together than get involved in that kind of nonsense.
As for both parties agreeing to the competition, from what I saw while researching this, the author of TMI seemed none too pleased by the whole thing, and only begrudgingly accepted it in the end (much like what happened with Eloraam, with me being the one notable exception that said "no" and maintained that stance).
There's nowhere in the OP that concisely summarizes what the mod is about. It just assumes you've heard of it before and already know what it's supposed to be.
What would you like me to say? "This mod adds stuff to Minecraft"?
There's really no specific focus to this mod man, that can act as a basis for such a summary.
for me, that's one of BTW's main strengths, the speed at which you add new features constantly gives me something new to do
Then would you agree that you might feel a certain sense of loss if I had taken Eloraam up on her "challenge" and had spent the past few months working on improved micro-blocks and Hemp, or imitating her other features in retaliation for her behavior?
I suspect there was at least one major mod author that at least partially decided to do that, and if you know the modding scene well, I think you can figure out the impact that may have had on them.
Instead, I decided to just remove myself from the behavior I found objectionable, and just keep doing what I do.
Does anyone now of a 64x, 128x or 256x texture pack just for BTW, that is realistic looking so it fit in with LB Photo Realism texture pack.
It dosen't haft to be finish.
If it's an alternate for it, then I think it would likely be the problem given that it would probably need to modify the creative-mode inventory (which I do as well to include the mod items).
That's the likely problem right there. For some reason (that I'm too lazy/Java noobish to figure out) whenever I've had NEI installed and tryed to use BTW there have been problems. Usually just missing textures in the block list, but occasional crashes. TMI works just fine. However they are both too cheaty to not ruin the BTW experience.
That would make sense! I didn't think it was NEI because I used it with BTW in 1.1 with no problems, but of course, things can change with updates. I don't use it to cheat btw, I use it for the recipe and search function, it works amazingly with BTW if it decides to work
But yeah, if it comes down to those two I'll have to go with BTW. I'll just have to go back to the dark ages and find the recipes on the thread or wiki
And now I feel guilty for using NEI, lol. It's just so convenient, there's no having to click through pages and pages, you can just search. I guess I'll go see about downgrading to CraftGuide.
Also just realized I forgot to put MAtmos and Millenaire on my list of installed mods, but they're external so probably not the problem.
Better than Wolves - Start out as a small hemp farmer and become a hemp tycoon while advancing through more advanced farming methods
Yeah, that covers maybe 2% of what the mod does and makes it sound patently lame. Good job.
Frankly, I really don't give a damn if people know what the mod does from first glance. It's so well known, that I'm really not interested in advertising to new players, who are often more trouble than they're worth anyways.
Hey guys, first off just wanna say this has gotta be the best mod for Minecraft out there, I'd seen it before and never used it because of the lack of compatibility... until 1.2.3 came out and I was still waiting for most of my other regular mods to be updated, and I decided to give it a shot. Haven't even checked if those other mods were updated since using BTW, with as awesome as BTW is, there is just no need for them.
I appear to of ran into a problem though, recently got the the point of using a hibachi and bellows, and a couple of my gearboxes necessary to keep the bellows functioning keep disappearing, I'm assuming that its because they are too close to the stoked fire, they are both two blocks horizontally and one block vertically away from the top of the stoked fire. How far would they need to be to avoid being destroyed?

Very cool man. Thanks for taking the time to write the above
one more block horizontally should be enough, but if space is an issue keep in mind that fire in itself is a block, and if something is in it's way it can't burn things.
Thanks, I had meant to also ask if putting something between the fire and the gearboxes would stop them from being destroyed too but then I forgot about it, because although space isn't necessarily an issue, its a lot easier to add an extra layer of protection there than it would be to redo all the gearboxes and axles. I never could find any slimes to make waterwheels so everything has been running off of a single windmill, so things are a bit.... messy. But now I'll be able to make glue
So... BTW's first birthday is coming soon. I wonder what kind of update will come with it.
Anyway, I have a quick question: If you completely get rid of the Forge code from BTW, would it become Forge compatible again?

That won't even begin to cover it once 4.0 hits
Hehe...I derive motivation from where I can, and I definitely do get some kicks out of tormenting folks

Thanks very much, I will try that!
I'll let you guys know if I get it working. I appreciate all the help <3
Minecraft mod summaries:
Hmmm, Dirtcraft.
Well, come to think of it. It would be a really easy mod to keep updated. No one would have room to complain really.
"Mojang just added a new mob in 2.33...are you updating soon?"
"My mod already doesn't include the new mob, so you're up to date."
Your sig makes me want to test compatibility with the lazor mod and BTW...

Whoa man. If that was intended as a deep philosophical statement, well done.
