Just a quick update: I've spent the better part of the day working on Modloader compatibility, and it's coming together nicely.
Unfortunately, there are still a few features that are going to require modification of some base classes, but I'm isolating those as much as possible, and I think that conflict with other mods should be minimal. There are just a few things (like modifying fluids with cement) that are just impossible to encapsulate given the way the base Minecraft code is structured.
Anyways, I suspect I'll be done with that in the next couple of hours, and will get on to implementing the new pressure plates in preperation for release of Version 1.01 :smile.gif:
My favorite feature in this mod has to be the light bulbs and minecart tracks. I would rather be building minecart stations and huge neon lights than looking for wolves.
Two suggestions for this mod: colored light bulbs and wool half-blocks. Not sure if colored light bulbs would be too much work though.
Will download when a new version with ModLoader support is uploaded. :smile.gif:
I got a block idea for you, purely aesthetic but its one i would like to see.
Corner blocks.
craft able with a combination of the basic build blocks + , +
these blocks would have 1/4 of a texture facing out as a molding to make buildings look nicer.
just a few ideas, but something along those lines.

Sorry guys, but I'd really rather focus on implementing features that provide functionality rather than aesthetic ones.
While I appreciate your ideas, and would probably like to use them myself in my own building projects, I don't think they're in the direction I want to go with the mod.
I will keep them in mind though. I've just been through a day of visciously wrestling with mod-loader, so I may not be in the most receptive of moods at present :wink.gif:
I've also got the iron pressure plates done (that one was super simple actually...15 minutes tops), and got most of the work done on the 3 kinds of Minecart Pressure Plates (wood, stone, and iron), which should mean that we'll be looking at a new version of the mod very shortly indeed :smile.gif:
I have to say, That I agree about the intent regarding the wolves. Certainly we need more mining/construction/environment related development of minecraft in my opinion.
The achievements that are coming in 1.5 are a waste of time, once again in my opinion. The weather is likable tho. :biggrin.gif:
I would use your cement mod, tho I have no need for the rest of it (I use and have no qualms with minecart advance mod). In fact, I prob don't have enough indicies available for more than just the cement, etc left in my modded client. If you could use overrides and provide the pixmaps as a different file and make the cement mod available stand alone I would be interested. Those features/services for the modding should be available via ML iirc.
Otherwise, I'll just have to rip it out myself and use a modded terrain.png :/
I think it's a neat idea, but I unfortunately don't really see adding new ore types being a part of this mod.
Really, I think the mod is about adding new core functionality or completing core functionality that was already put into the game, but not fully fleshed out.
In other words, I want to work on blocks/items that DO something that feels like it was missing from the main game.
I don't see new ores, new mobs, new weapons, or basically, what amounts to variations on existing content in the game, really playing a part in that.
So yeah, I like it, but I just don't see it fitting into the mod.
Totally fine. One of the main reasons I chose you to ask was because I knew you wouldn't randomly chuck in 50 new useless ores afterward, although I felt silver (since we have gold) was pretty significant, and tried to give it functionality. Nonetheless, I'm fine without it.
Might I ask what's in development?
EDIT: I totally support the slime ball to make concrete. Not only does it make some sense, but its good for that item to have a purpose. If you want unlimited concrete (a rather advanced item...) use an inventory editor fory yourself.

Minecraft technology - the logical way - the only way.
And it's...are you seriously above 12 years old? Because to me it sounds like you are having an irrational sissy fit about wolves.
I guess you missed the part about the 15 years of professional experience. lol
Really his original argument is quite rational and I have yet to see a good counter to it. I'm quite glad someone is focused on putting in real content. Though the latest tweets indicate possible red stone boosters (about freaking time) but that is just one item off the list of things the game has need for some time.
Little does that matter if it has no maturity to go with it.
Really? You just went on a massive rant about me for no apparent reason, after I've put all the work into getting this thing ready, and released it to the public, and I'm the one being immature?
It took me less than a week to get the mod in its current state, working part time, with no knowledge of the minecraft code (I've never modded this thing before), having never coded in Java before, and with none of the resources that Majong has at its disposal (like art of sound). So far, I haven't received a single bug report since release. If that doesn't warrant the title, I don't know what does.
If you want to argue about the wolves, go back to the appropriate thread. Further flame posts will be ignored, and promptly reported. As I said to a previous poster, if you don't want to use it because of the name, it's your loss.

Looks good tho. Good work ^.^
Thank you sir!
I hear you on the overrides man. I just burned close to a whole day getting Modloader support in (man...someone really needs to put out some decent documentation for that thing...I might do so myself), so it might be a little while before I tackle the config file less I become discouraged by the lack of progress on the actual mod :wink.gif:
One unfortunate thing about the conversion though, I was unable to get modloader to properly override the cement texture so that I could place it in a seperate texture file. This has to do with the way fluids are animated, and I suspect that unless I write a custom renderer for the cement, there's no way around having the texture in terrain.png for the time being :\

Hehe...I hear you man. Many of the mods I've looked at seem to "overdo it" at some point or another and add a ton of secondary stuff that only serve to dilute the strength of their features. It's something I definitely want to avoid, so you are quite right in thinking I wouldn't have gone nuts and shoved in 50 different ores :wink.gif:

Absolutely! I regularly update the OP to indicate which features are in the works, so you can always check there if you're curious.
I wanted to focus the next update on getting ModLoader support in, which I completed yesterday. But I also didn't want to release a new version without additional content, so I also decided to add in iron pressure plates (which are done), and wood, stone, and iron version of the minecart pressure plates (which are almost done), to add full minecart switching station functionality to the game (wood triggers on any cart, stone on any cart containing something including a chest, and iron only triggers on a player ridden cart).
I think the possibility of being able to automatically sort carts based on whether they are empty, freight, or passenger, is a pretty cool addition :smile.gif:
Anyways, like I said though, I wanted to get the ModLoader support done and released quick, so I chose these features for addition now due to their simplicity.

Yeah, I agree and have no intention to change it. I play strictly ligit (no inv editing), and I am quite happy to finally have a use for all the slime balls I've been accumulating.
What I am really surprised about is that there haven't been many comments on the minecart booster recipe or the sound effects that it generates :wink.gif:
You should think about editing your posts because you are making doubleposts².
Aren't 'double posts' when you post the same information twice? I don't believe I've been doing that.
Not sure what the etiquette is regarding posting more than once consecutively, but when I do so it's because I am responding to different people and/or topics.
The textures are simply ones already built into the game. I'm not an artist, so adding my own is not really an option. Not sure what to say beyond that :smile.gif:
If I could gracefully recommend a block/idea. Cannon. Sort of like the piston mod, but a reloadable block that effectively works as a tnt cannon. It could be reloadable, sort of like a furnace, but you place tnt in the slot, and it then fires you. Is that too hard to code?
I'm not too keen on putting a cannon block in, as I think player-designed cannons are a cool "feature" in and of themselves. A lot of people have put a lot of work into coming up with cool cannon designs, and I would hate to even partially invalidate that.
However, one idea I've been mulling over is the idea of a cannon shell, possibly made out of TnT surrounded by iron. This would have physics turned on by default (unlike TnT which only turns on physics when ignited), and would detonate on impact when fired, possibly with a bigger radius than standard TnT.
No promises for inclusion in the mod yet as I'm still considering the impact it would have on the game.
UPDATE: I've included a version of this idea in the intended feature list of the OP, extending its use slightly, and calling it the "Bomb Block".
UPDATE TO UPDATE: After thinking about it a bit, realizing it's really easy to implement, and developing a strong urge to work on something that goes 'boom', I've decided to put the bomb blocks into the next update. At present, everything other than the concrete in this mod is so heavily redstone based, it will also be nice to have a new feature which isn't.

EDIT: Or perhaps a redstone ran block that obeys gravity when activated. Useful for traps and the like, meaning that until electrical force is applied, it won't drop.
That's a pretty good idea, but I suspect it's functionality already covered by the trap doors in the intended feature list. You could put gravel or sand above a trapdoor for much the same effect.
I would use your cement mod, tho I have no need for the rest of it (I use and have no qualms with minecart advance mod). BTW: If it helps with your problems any, I am currently using indices 222-229 for the objects in this mod (as of version 1.0).
I chose these to avoid conflicts with future features added to the main-game, and hopefully with other mods.
