It's only for 1.2.3 at the moment, wait till it updates
Having trouble getting this mod to work with the latest minecraft. It just gives me a black screen after logging in. I've searched through most of the 22 pages returned from searching "black screen" but nothing suggested helps. Below are the steps I used for installing:
Deleted .minecraft folder from appdata/roaming
Ran minecraft.exe; updated; made sure fancy and default textures were selected; closed minecraft
Opened minecraft.jar and OptiFine_1.2.3_HD_MT_B.zip
Deleted META-INF
Copied over class files to minecraft.jar
Start minecraft.exe, logged in
Black screen
Never had any mods or texture packs installed, I just want to fog gone when underground. Someone mentioned to grab this mod.
do you need to drag and drop just the class files because in addition to them there is also a ctm.png file. should i copy the png too?
Copy anything from that .zip into the .jar. But make sure to follow the directories. The .zips are organized so the directories match the same as if they were in the .jar.
I don't use it because it screws with Minecraft. (Echos with sounds, terrible lag, ETC.)
I've never heard of that, and as Euryleia stated, it doesn't even sound possible unless there was a bug with the previous versions in the way they patched (I've used 0.9.5+ and haven't seen this issue).
As noted, make sure the order of patching is correct. You can use the up and down arrows in the mod list to change the order, some mods have requirements, and those requirements need to be installed first most of the time (usually in the order of modloader, modloadermp, forge, and then whatever other libraries).
I agree, It is much easier for the average computer user to use MCPatcher / magiclauncher.
Oh yeah, I'd recommend both of them over manual patching in a heartbeat... I'm also looking forward to the new mod API. Hope it makes things easier for end-users but doesn't make the creators of mods ragequit.
The Minecraft community in general isn't about "respecting and caring" either. It largely consists of narcissistic children who disregard those other than themselves and like to spout anger, abuse, troll and flame. It is also why any competent multiplayer builder either owns a private server or one where build allowance requires in-depth vetting. If Minecraft was about "respecting and caring" these measures would clearly not be necessary.
Can't wait for the 1.2.4 I appreciate the fast updating. Keep up the great work!
By the way for anyone saying "yay I get 9274 fps thx!". More fps isn't always a good thing.
If you force Vsync on javaw.exe (this may be for nVidia mainly but I know Catalyst users can get it working as well) so it locks your fps at your refresh rate (MHz in display settings somewhere depending on OS/Videos card etc..), the game can actually feel smoother at a locked 60fps; rather than a fluctuating fps anywhere from 80-320.
Just try it, you might be surprised. I was impressed and now force Vsync with Minecraft with Triple Buffering. Feels really nice.
no i get 84 fps on a regular map with technic pack when opti is on i get a good 120-140
Thanks for the support.
Do you have 1.2.4 or 1.2.3?

Do you have in incompatible mods?

I keep that link handy because it's easy for people who know a lot about computers to forget just how little the average person knows.
