I had to only change the graphics from fancy to fast.
All right, I thought I had tried that but apparently not. That worked.
HOWEVER, by installing the Water Shaders AFTER OptiFine, it breaks a LOT of the OptiFine functionality including (but not limited to) certain icon textures not showing up correctly, not being able to force day only, and not being able to disable the lag-o-meter from the debug screen, etc, etc.
Of course, installing OptiFine after the water shaders makes it so the water shaders don't work. So, there are definitely some conflicts between the two mods.
Because of this, they aren't really compatible then.
Hey guys does anyone know how to uninstall and reinstall optifine. Could I just replace my mc jar file and then start over how would I do that. I want to see if it fixes a lot of see thru chunks issues. Any help is appreciated thx
Ok, better grass and HD textures are in it, but what about the HD font? I use faithful texture pack, with optifine the texture is fine, but the font not, there are alot of space between the letters, can someone tell how to fix this? I don't see anything in options video setting etc...
The default font spacing is already fixed (available in next version), the custom font width will also be coming soon.
Using OptiFine HD D3, I get chunks of the world not loading, is there like a setting or option to fix this? or is this just an inherent issue with it? it's annoying because when it's not forgetting the world needs loaded it runs amazingly, but soon as I start running in a direction, bits and pieces of the world will start missing all over the place.
running java 7 that was recommended from the OP post as well as his suggestions on the command line for memory, before I was setting minecraft to 8gigs of memory(and it would eat that up like popcorn and still do this.)
edit:holy crap the forum posted this like 10 times over and over again... fffs
First off, I must say, THANK YOU. Without Optifine I literally cannot run Minecraft on my computer. So thanks! Anyway, your mod doesn't seem to be compatible with The Aether mod. I made sure to have the latest versions, but when I install Optifine, it stops working. There are more users with the same problems, who have posted here:. Do you have any way of helping us? If not, then sadly I won't be able to use the Aether Mod. Thanks!

It seems like Optifine and MCPatcher have some sort of mutual support going on... and I'd love to see Optifine implement MCPatchers method for HDFont. From what I've gathered reading, there's no way to implement HDfont in a way that is compatible with both MCPatcher and Optifine, and that's disappointing. I'd really rather not alienate one mod user base from another.
If there's way for me to make my HD font work well between both mods, I'd really appreciate the lesson.
I installed optifine hd single core standard version and the hd texture pack still has the fire and protal texture issues (where they apear on the sides of blocks) I didn't have this issue with the forge version however I cannot use that as I have the Better than Wolves mod installed which means forge will crash minecraft (tested and proved.
I get about 50 - 80 fps, same as in skyrim/saints row third/etc. Still only 60 - 120 with the mod applied.
Surely minecraft should be getting 200+ fps on my machine? In most 'lower spec' games I get 150 - 250 fps (dead island, etc).
Is there something wrong with my system or does minecraft seriously demand the same system resources as Skyrim and all these high spec, graphically intensive games?
The human eye can't see past 60 fps anyways, so I don't see why you'd need any more. The reason Minecraft is so demanding is because of the sheer amount of polygons, and having to load them dynamically and remember what's what. Make sure you have advanced openGL or whatever on fancy. It helps when your graphics card can handle it.

There is a good chance you are CPU bottle-necked actually. Even with Optifine_MT the Minecraft client only minimally uses extra cores, and while the Phenom X6 is a pretty good processor in general its per core is only decent.
@SpinBuilder While there is a certain truth to that, particularly since most monitors can only put out 60ish fps anyway (Hence V-sync) there are two things you are overlooking: First is that the oft-quoted "Human-eye can only distinguish up to 60fps anyway" is an over simplistic generalization. Second, and more important is that even if you ignore the first issue at greater than 60fps there are fewer floating point rounding errors resulting in smoother appearing motion. That said minecraft doesn't really touch on that which is why I don't bother turning off V-sync in it.
ok, i apologise if this has been asked before, i didn't want to read 500 pages of replies
im folowing the directions to install this thing (first time doing anything like this), i find the minecraft.jar file and open it using 7-zip, i then delete the META file and select and drag the .class files into the .jar file and it accepts them, i run a test, no errors, i then go to start the game, hit play offline, and the game never loads, it sits there at a black screen, am i doing something wrong here? something im not doing? help!
im trying to copy the files of OptiFog_Optimine_1.7.3_HD_E (yes i realize that it is an old version but the page for this says to use that one could that be the issue?
thank you for your help in advance!
UPDATE: for some reason it is now working lol, i apologize for any frantic checking if something is wrong that anyone may have done

100% true I shall start saying they work together, with the exception of some features being broken :/

You know you just replied to the same post twice? :tongue.gif:
That is precisely the issue I have been having.

Now I am aware of that :smile.gif:

Same applies for that tiny lip you see when looking at water, grass should cover that up ifthe dirt block is under the log:
If you could add either/both of these options i would love you forever :smile.gif:
