Anybody know how to get the better skies working for dimensions added by mods (twilight forest, for example)?
The documentation (on GitHub) says this:
"Place the file at ~/sky/world0/sky0.properties ~/sky/world0/sky1.properties ... etc."
and this:
"NOTE: The "world0" in the path refers to the overworld. If there were other worlds with skies (the Nether and End do not use the standard sky rendering methods), their files would be in ~/sky/world<world number>."
But I've tried creating a folder where the "0" in "world0" is instead the ID of the dimension in question, but it doesn't work. I know it's possible to do because I've seen videos where people are playing modded with custom skyboxes in the background in the twilight forest.
As far as I can tell, that's exactly what i'm doing. I have twilight forest set to the ID of 4, and made a folder sky/world4. But...no sky. I also tried it with a test dimension I made with Just Enough Dimensions, that didn't work either.
Hey is there any official update regarding "OptiFine 1.16.43 HD U G3"? Because some websites are offering a new update and I am little confused about it please guide me.

I can't get OptiFine HD to open its installer. Every time I try, the file just gets unzipped. Necessary details: MacOS Catalina. I tried the Magic Launcher method, but Magic Launcher does not have a new enough version for Minecraft 1.16.3 and when I tried anyway MacOS responded with "“MagicLauncher.app” needs to be updated". I am not sure what to do. I would rather not try Forge because I have done it before and after a year of use eventually broke the entire .jar file. Luckily, I was able get the Minecraft folder out before deleting and reinstalling, so no worlds lost.
My only guess would be that I do not have Java installed. The Java Version of Minecraft does not need Java installed as it has its own Virtual Java.

That seems to be exactly the problem that you are facing.
Either you do not have Java installed at all or you are not using Java to run the Jar file.

I had performance issues in Hypixel and other servers when using 1.8.9 optifine, random frametime spikes and the screen would freeze up for split seconds at a time. My framerate is high so the stuttering was unusual. I managed to fix it doing the most simple thing that you wouldn't think would fix it..
Question : Does anyone here who uses 1.8.9 optifine get random stuttering / screen freezes / lag, when on a server, even though your framerate is high? When on a server, check to see if these tall white spikes appear on the Lagometer, you can't miss them, they stand out.
To open the Lagometer, in game hold Alt and press F3. Now watch players as they spawn into the game. If you see these spikes :
Try this :
1) Open video settings
2) Toggle Smooth lighting Level from 100% to 0%, wait a couple of seconds then switch back to 100%.
3) Or, If the smooth lighting level is already 0%, toggle Smooth lighting Level from 0% to 100%, wait a couple of seconds then switch back to 0%.
After doing the above, check Lagometer again, tall white spikes are gone? The game should be much smoother.
You aren't disabling any options, you are simply toggling one option, leaving your own settings intact. This simple toggle, reloads the shadows (or something like that) and can fix random stuttering for some users. The fix stays applied until you close Minecraft. I found that players spawning onto the map causes the spikes to occur, and turning player visibility to off is an alternative solution to toggling smooth lighting level (although I prefer to keep players visible).
I seem to be having trouble with optifine, whenever i try to craft birch logs into birch planks the game crashes. Disabling optifine fixes this. My crash report: https://pastebin.com/ysRe6UdB

On the download site there is on the top the option "preview versions" and there you can find an 1.15.2 version...

@jonas2393
Hi, go to this official site :https://optifine.net/downloads and click at the top "preview versions", there you find what you are surching for....
Then I suggest you create an issue on GitHub just in case it's a bug: https://github.com/sp614x/optifine/issues/new/choose
New to optifine/minecraft.
I have Minecraft version 1.16.40. The latest version of optifine is 1.16.3.
Do I just have to wait until Optifine bring out a version for 1.16.40? (I have tried installing 1.16.3 but it won't have it).
The current Minecraft version is 1.16.3
The number 1.16.40 refers to Minecraft Bedrock Edition - Optifine is for the Java version
Thanks. I am on the Windows 10 version. So my son who has 1.16.50 on his iPad can't use optifine either?
I am guessing that there is another way of adding textures to these versions then??
You can check this site:

Thanks TileEntity. Appreciate the help.

Try it with Technic Launcher: https://www.technicpack.net/download
And search for an Optifine modpack

Proof it works -
