This is great, but I have a question about the following step:
5) copy the .class files from the downloaded zip into the minecraft.jar folder, replacing previous files
I use 7-zip archive manager. Whenever I place the new files into the folder, it doesn't ask me to "replace" the previous files. It adds them in alongside the old ones causing me to now have the original files AND the new ones in the archive. Is there a way to "copy and replace," or do I need to individually delete each old file within the archive, then add the new one?
Mod installation is a LOT easier if you use WinRAR. It overwrites duplicate files by default (useful, except when a mod conflict breaks the game and you have trouble uninstalling it). While it does have a 40-day trial, you can use that free version forever, only having to endure a single, relatively unobtrusive "please buy full version" message when you open the program.

Can't wait for MCP and Optifine to be updated =) Though I don't need optifine as vanilla Minecraft runs at an average of 200-300 FPS in Lion, I use it for the amazing video settings it comes with. These video settings (like turning off the sky and weather, keeping it day, etc.) are amazing and REALLY should be in the vanilla version of Minecraft just like Scavelous' McRegion made it in.

Anyways, it appears that being on "fast" makes the lighting look awful/glitchy.
You think you can fix that? My chests turning black is really getting annoying.
It's amazing what this mod does. In 1.7.3 I used to lag bad everywhere, even with a great PC, with this mod, it makes the game run as smooth as butter, no matter what is happening (even in the rain).
Amazing work. I can't wait until the 1.8 version is released.
Thank you very much for creating this mod :smile.gif:
You people do realize that the rendering techniques are a bit different in 1.8 than originally, and he has to fit the entire code around that? It's not as simple as just "recompiling," he has to figure out how it's rendered now, and work around it, possibly change his code.
If I had to guess a time that it would take, I'd say around 4-5 days, at the most. And that's if he's actively working on it.
Also, yelling for him to fix it won't do anything. Just annoy him.

Just because you can wait does not mean your mature, in fact it was quite immature to say that anyway.
The post does say it will be updated when 1.8 is released, so my guess is sometime tomorrow.
Stop reposting
Edit: I take it back, you took care of it
Patience my friend, hopefully he will have updated this by tomorrow :tongue.gif:
What came first, the creeper or the egg?
