Before I knew of any issues with OptiFine, I couldn't load Minecraft today. The launcher kept trying to download over and over until I got the error, "Unable to update native launcher." Having had this problem before, I backed up everything in my Minecraft folder (saves, screenshots, etc.), downloaded the Minecraft installer, and used it to remove Minecraft (rather than delete the folder in Windows).
I then used the installer to re-install Minecraft. It did not, however, launch Minecraft when finished, despite having that box ticked. So, I navigated to the Program Files installation folder (i.e., not the AppData/Roaming folder), and ran the MinecraftLauncher.exe program. At that point, the launcher downloaded correctly.
I was able to play OptiFine 1.12.2 HD U C7 pre released on Oct. 20, 2017.
I just noticed that another preview was released today, but not having an issue, I've not installed it. Maybe it will fix others' problems, but I'm going to go ahead and post this regardless on the off chance it helps someone else.

The idea is to make the game a lot smoother, and it does just that... But it makes AFK fishing unable to be done.
Is there any way you could make the classic fullscreen thing still an option for us AFK fishers once 1.13 is out?

And before you guys say it, no putting a wight or auto-cookie clicker thing doesn't work, the point is to be able to fish on Minecraft while you do other stuff on your computer, a weight or auto-cookie clicker won't do that.

That'll help, but the main reason I like the trick I use is it was multi-purpose.
You'd hold down a key (Or multiple keys) and then press F11 and toggle FullScreen and Windowed mode. (Note that only works on keybored, so for stuff like fishing you need to temporarily remap those keys to your keybored)
I recently built a tunnel that was 2 miles (3 Kilometer) long in survival mode and the decoration process was absolutely mind numbing until I found this trick.
Being able to Hold down Walk left/right, Sneak and Place-block made doing that whole process soooooo much easier, especially for someone who builds insanely large scale structures in survival vanilla mode like me.
And putting a rock on specific keys doesn't work, because I like to do the AFK building and stuff while I browse stuff and stuff.
Iv been using the documentation to have textures change based on NBT data/lore/etc. Its fantastic. My server has a bunch of custom items like "Mob Hearts" that are just nether wart named Mob Hearts with a lore, so im making a pack for everyone to use that retextures the custom items.
HOWEVER iv come across a problem. There are some custom items my server uses like that are based on blocks. One example is an item called Scrip that is based on Purpur. In my inventory, I would like to make them look like a little coin or something. I dont care about purpur when its placed in the world, as Scrip is not placeable.
They are just named "Scrip", and have some kind of enchantment so they glint. Im not the server owner so I dont know what enchant thing he used to make them glint.
Using the "type:item" doesnt work on blocks! How do I fix this? Im sure there is a way. I just tried using "type:item" and "items:blockID" and that does not detect :c
Turns out, CCNow will take paid money and then return it after 24 hours if you donate whilst running a VPN. They also won't respond to questions about why they were happy to take the money, but not dispense a cape.
Might want to watch out for that.

Both clearly have Optifine says so, just where is says Optifine in the lower left is cut in half... the 1st pic is GUI on Normal the 2nd is with it on Auto...
