it'd be better if it didn't work at all unless an admin allowed it, this is more like blacklisting ...
I won't remove it though. This is close enough.
I don't see how this mod adheres to your own policy of
Server owners must explicitly allow the mod to work on your server. If they don't give it an OK in some way, it shouldn't work.
Say you have a server with only one admin. While that admin is asleep or away from his computer someone joins with this mod enabled. Since the admin is away the user is able to go around the server and use this mod freely with nothing stopping him and the admin never actually allowing the person to use the mod.
So what is it? Does a mod have to allow it to only work when "Server owners must explicitly allow the mod to work on your server." or do you just sorta have to let people know you're using the mod and hope the admin is watching logs to see they are.
You guys are contradicting yourselves and your own rules which makes it nigh impossible to know what is the correct manner of doing things.

this could be abvoided by shutting down the server, get some trustworthy people in diff timezones and make them mods.

Honestly that is not something that is reasonable to force every server admin to have to do in order to stop the unauthorized use of advantageous mods. Not everyone knows people in enough different timezones to have a mod on at all times. Many smaller servers for example could not do this.

public void onPlayerChat(PlayerChatEvent event) {
if (event.getMessage().contains("Warning! Player using Xray!"){
event.getPlayer().player.kickPlayer ("Xray not allowed on this server!");
}
}
There's your ****ing plugin. Took 5 minutes, so next time do some research instead of whining.

Now, now, no need for rudeness. Lets try to have some civility shall we.
Yes this will kick any user of this xray mod on a server with the plugin you mentioned installed.
The issue however is, the rules clearly say the server owner must explicitly allow the use of these kinds of modifications. This implies that these mods must default to OFF unless the server has a plugin installed that allows for the use of the mod. Which this mod clearly does not do.
Is there a way to use this WITHOUT it announcing that I have it on? I use it as an admin tool on my server to keep an eye on what people are up too, and I really don't need them to know what I'm doing.
Lazy People are Lazy, read entire first page, link to sourceforge, of the mod before moderators basically forced this guy to change his mod to announce "Hey Guys I'm a Hax" When there is more creative ways of stopping it, or more efficient ways i should say.

Lahwran already said this method is "Close enough". Go away please.
Actually requiring every server than wants to allow a mod to have a specific plug-in to white-list that mod would be a significant burden on the server admin if he wanted to allow pretty much anything. Considering most servers are small things just between friends where the 'admin' is just the friend who happened to create the server this could block many people from using mods even when they wanted to and the server is willing to allow them, but the admin dosen't know how to set up the correct plugin.
If anything, this is like the government creating burdensome regulations that crush small local business but barley effect large corporations at all. Or at least that's my take on the new rules.

It is not reasonable for a player to ask an admin to install a plugin they do not know of just to let this one person use this mod. It is extremely easy to detect this mod. If it's so much of a burden to watch over the server logs one time a week then someone will make a plugin to detect it.
I joined 3 SMP servers in the middle of the night testing this plugin and moderators either told me to leave or loled.

i wanted to try it out, but doesn't seem to work for me...
i did copy everything (meaning the contents of the zip file, not the zip itself) to bin\minecraft.jar, also deleted META-INF folder...
game starts as usual, but once ingame, nothing happens when i press any of those keys (i.e. "X") which are supposed to do something.
using 1.4 of course, and no other mods. tried with both misa's texpack and without it, just to make sure.
any help?
Having the same problem...
I tested it again with a new minecraft jar (delete your minecraft.jar and try again). Make sure it is minecraft.jar and not minecraft1.4.jar or minecraft.jar the launcher. Delete the META-INF folder..
Doh! I forgot to test it in SSP. Works fine SMP. Will fix soon.
I think that servers shouldn't need to have a plugin to do it but the mod simply does not work in multiplayer or its taken off unfair advantages are unfair i think maybe if you are a mod or higher in a server it allows you to use it but any lower and its auto disabled client side.
It's already crippled in multiplayer. I joined multiple servers with this and got banned or kicked from lots of them. How is it an unfair advantage if you can't use it?
Why would they let this jackass even post this when his previous posts had viruses in the "mods"?
He posted one virus, and that has been snipped. After he learned his lesson, he provided legit X-Ray mods.
@ NewbyModder
Your X-Ray mods are awesome. They work very well.
But I don't see why mods are locking your threads. In the rules, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AGAINST MODS THAT ARE USABLE ON SMP.
NEVER:
Post Illegal Activity:
- Anything referring to Minecraft hacks;
Any mod using this reason.. hacks and mods are different. If MC mods weren't allowed, I don't think there would be a whole section about them. Hacks would be something far different. Really far. Extremely far. So far that chunks start to f k up.
I believe that the forum mods are not stupid, but need to think just a little more and use more valid logic before they start to lock a thread up.
If game-changing SMP mods weren't supposed to be allowed, make an announcement or sticky a topic with the following information.
Lastly, here is one game-changing SMP mod. zombe's modpack Go lock that up. Actually don't. Maybe flying is worst than X-Ray. It won't matter that much. Being able to go 1000 blocks in under 1 minute doesn't matter. (Better stop mah self there before I start ) And zombe's modpack being on the wiki has no valid argument.
Point is, the mod dev for X-Ray should not be suffering through topic locks. Mods need more logic.
