I was wondering if you were working on porting to bukkit cause i want to use this mod on a server i help run i know everyone would love it also great job
This is a client mod, not a server mod. It will work on bukkit or vanilla servers just the same.
This is a client mod, not a server mod. It will work on bukkit or vanilla servers just the same.
Exactly right. This is basically due to the way mumble works and interlinks with games: client-side.
However I also see and understand dc033092's trouble as a server admin to get every one to install it themselves. I know that it would be much more convenient if there was no client side installation required.
Not to get your hopes up too high but for the future I was considering looking into making this also as a Spout (server side) plugin with the aim to get rid of the client-side dependency and adding or at least enabling these management features.
The hardest part is that this will probably require some modifications in murmur and mumble to allow for server side interfacing. So this is quite an endeavor.
ok thank you for your help since i know it should work it shouldn't be to hard to get everyone to get it cause the server is a community so i just have to post that everyone should get it and they will

I cannot give you help for tekkit, forge or CompactSolars. Sorry.
The error does not seem in anyway related to nor caused by MumbleLink. Please ask the developers of the above mentioned tools.

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
It is very unlikely that I will update the mod for preliminary MC versions.
However just because I won't do it doesn't mean nobody does it - maybe someone will volunteer or you could even try it yourself...

if anyone is having trouble using verion 2.4.4 with tekkit - initially i was having a blank white screen after logging into the launcher - i noted in the .techniclauncher/logs/ that it was trying to load the natives from .minecraftmods/MumbleLink not .techniclauncher/tekkit/mods/MumbleLink
- so i simply copied the natives folder from the tekkit/mods/MumbleLink folder into a mods/MumbleLink folder in the base minecraft install folder...
this is because i launch my tekkit launcher from the vanilla folder, so other's mileage may vary, but if your setup is similar and you had similar issues, i hope this helps
This mod sounds very cool, but I have a few questions. If I'm not mistaken this is a clientside mod, correct? Is there any possibility of serverside configuration. It would be very cool if I could set it to only work with specific mumble settings. This way this mod could work as a voicechat similar to the one used in dayz..
I'm very sorry if I missed anything
Your question is perfectly valid. However you are also just too right. This mod currently is client-side only, there is no server-side configuration possible.
DayZ is a really nice mod for Arma but I am not exactly sure if you are talking about the ingame voice chat or ACRE via TS3 as I have not played it for quite some time anymore. What is it that you are looking for the most?
As you probably already know you can customize your Mumble settings to pretty much match what Arma2's ingame voice chat does however enforcing the same settings on each client is not really possible as all the audio (voice) rendering is done exclusively on the client.
You could however have a look at PR-Mumble (Project-Reality's customized mumble client). Configuring your server to only allow PR-Mumble clients (not sure how to do that but it was done for PR) could solve your issue since those clients have fixed settings with values aiming at realism (no hearing people from miles away).
I am sorry to say that by default this mod does not go very well with competitive gameplay that is focusing on realism as there is too much room for abuse.
In the far future I will try to get Mumble to be more game friendly and will see if I can get Murmur to interface with game servers - but that for sure is not going to start before next year (2013), if at all.
Change Log:
v2.5.5
- updated for Minecraft 1.4.6
- compatible with Minecraft 1.4.7
If your mod is located in your mods-folder as suggested, then all you need to do is to patch your Minecraft with ModLoader - no redownloading and installing of the mod is required.
can you please confirm that the existing ones are broken? Right now there are OSX compatible libraries (at least they were compatible at some point). The interface has not changed so they did not need updating from the mod's point of view.
There is a 32bit and a 64bit version ("libmod_MumbleLink.dylib", "libmod_MumbleLink_x64.dylib") inside the "natives" folder of the zip.
It is vital that the applicable library file is in either of the expected locations (i.e. must be at "~/.minecraft/mods/MumbleLink/libmod_MumbleLink_x64.dylib").
Please check if the dylib-files are in that location and if it still does not work please post your OS version, ModLoader.txt and Minecraft crash error message as those will certainly help with fixing this issue.
I installed the mod and configured mumble but i on't hear ppl and they don't hear me, do we need to connect to the same mumble server, your tutorial video suggests we do't need to connect to a mumble server...

Yes, you will need to connect to a Mumble server (Murmur) - Mumble is not a peer-to-peer client. You will get the "Minecraft linked." message only because the linking of the mod to the Mumble client succeeded.
