I know you're working on wasteland, but I do have a request nonetheless. If you happen to get around to it, cool, if not - no worries (maybe its time to release your source? >.<). Anyways, the request: Can you make the sides and bottoms of your alters use a seperate texture than the terrain.png? I want to put runic embellishments on the sides, and I cant right now.
I plan on making some new spells/runes some time next week, and I can change the texture to have a separate side one for the altars.

Sweet deal! I'll see about making up a nice texture for ya.

I think this Mod has great potential and look forward to the next build.
I managed to get it installed and working fine mostly, but I do have one issue.
What do I break the Magicite Blocks with? I've tried every type of pickaxe, and it takes forever/doesn't yield any of the stuff to make altars. Perhaps something is wrong/conflicting with my install? I installed it fresh with no other mods except the required ones (Modloader 4, etc) and Xray (so I could see if the art assets screwed up with the blocks again. VERY handy for testing new mods).
Any idea what I might be doing wrong here, or is there a special tool I have to use to dig out magic blocks?
Also, a suggestion - what about elemental staves? Essentially working like melee versions of some spells with a bit more bang than just the flung spells.

Diamond there could be substituted by particular suiting element; bucket of water, empty bucket, bucket of lava, solid stone. Etc. If other modder assets might be useful, could even get some of the other gemstones from several others out there.
General ideas
Earth Staff = Makes a great Digging or Hoe instrument/Medium Damage.
Airwave Staff = Knocks enemy back away from you/Low Damage. Maybe a Flying effect?
Fire/Magma Staff= Strike lights fires/high damage. Maybe a sunburst effect?
Water/Frost Staff= Strike Freezes Target/Medium Damage.
I like the mod but i think some things should be changed.
The projectiles doesn't really look too good, and if you could add some sounds that would be awesome since it sounds just like when I shoot an arrow.
And i think the different elemental strike spells should have different effects since atm most of them are just stronger arrows (Excluding the fire one) that require lots of work, basically they arent worth making.
The air one could throw mobs a little upwards and back, I don't know about the others.
Reasons to why the strike spells aren't worth making:
Arrows/Bow:
Flint (Gravel exists almost everywhere)
Sticks (Made by wood which is not very rare)
Feathers (Chickens aren't rare)
String (If you are a experienced minecraft player, spiders aren't really dangerous)
Runes:
Cobblestone (For blank runes, not rare)
Smooth Stone (For blank runes, You have to make a furnace and melt cobble)
Dirt (Earth altar, not rare)
Bucket (Fire/Water/Air altar, you need 3 iron)
Lava (Fire altar, not the first thing you find)
Arrow (Strike altar, See above)
Magic Essence (Semi-rare, mining needed)
As you can see the runes aren't really worth the trouble since the only pros they give is that they deal 2 more damage that arrows and that fire ignites mobs, and you can't pick up the ammo, you can with arrows.
Edit: I downloaded the newest version (With good graphics) but they are still the same.
i have the mods fancy pack, cosmic mods and some small mods installed.
is there a compatibility problem with those mods? all i did, is that i changed the block ids nothing else.. there is no blackscreen nothing. i just cant farm magic essence with diamon pickaxe :sad.gif:
I should probably put a screenshot up of the new graphics (i forgot if i have already or not). Evitro, if I have a screenshot up, you might want to put it on the OP.

Since my previous post did not get a reply, I am left to assume that none of those ideas interested you much, or at least not enough since you are working on a different project as well.
I do have a simple, and I think useful, request that would make this mod more convenient to use with worlds that were already generated. If you could make some kind of a recipe which allows for the manufacturing of magic essence, that would be great. Don't get me wrong, thank you for the vein size change, but it seems like some kind of recipe for making the essence would help to add some additional magical options.
Nice mod here! :happy.gif:
I just want to suggest maybe making runes with redstone dust, too, since it's the natural magical item in MC. Maybe not as an alternative for your magic essence, but maybe something it can work side-by-side with. Nature runes and Light runes wouldn't be so bad either. ;p
Light strike will make an explosion of light that will burn undead mobs near it.
I would also like to suggest some effects:
Earth strike - places dirt block(kinda like dirt arrow)
Air strike - makes the same puff as explosion or mob death, and makes the mob hit fall-back at least 1 block
Water strike - can put fires out/makes a flow of water(like the ones made by placing, then removing, water source block)
Thanks.
I would like to request a spell which has already been requested, but seems extremely useful in light of the one non-attack spell you have.
I would like a spell that creates powerful light...like sunlight grade perhaps...either centered on me, centered on where I cast the spell, or as a placeable block...and in any case, it really should work underwater. The ability to breathe underwater is substantially less useful to me without the ability to see underwater. Also, if it was encoded to create a sunlight level of light, it should be able to have combat effectiveness against the undead.
Another idea that I would like to see, if you get a chance is I like the idea of a block placement spell (suggested a few times already) that would allow for more long-distance bridge building than I can unmagically do. I'm not convinced that there is a good reason to make this temporary.
A spell that creates a temporary redstone charge (as if you pushed a stone button on the target, for example) at a distance would also be potentially useful/easy to code.
I know that the game is already hopelessly full of ways to heal yourself, but it seems like a magic system with no healing spell is...well...missing a healing spell. Healing could be elemental in nature, obviously, but it could also be built off of a "light" rune. (This would also be perfect for the light spell, and probably the redstone charge spell as well.) If the healing spell also extinguished fire the same way that jumping in the water does, that would be handy too.
Additionally, a repair spell would be just great. The basic idea is that once you create the repair spell (and you could have a lesser repair and a greater repair, if you wanted to do the extra work) and then you create recipies where repair spell + some item = some item. Since the re-created item is at full uses, it was like it repaired the item. Admittedly this spell requires a huge recipe list, but I think it would be worth it.
(And yes, I am aware that PlasticCraft has a similar ability through duct tape.)

I'd fix that if I were you. It makes you seem like you're 12.
Water is a bowl.
Earth is a square with no bottom.
Air is a + with longer sides.
fire is a triangle with no bottom.
So you say that only people who are young have grammar mistakes?
Maybe he has English as his second language.
Think before writing.
Sorry for double post but that would look cool.
Lol, maybe its because you are refering to runecrafting ... and maybe because you just copy the runescape graphics ...
Stupid night videos ... why cant people do video when its day or just use Zombe Mod to freeze the time.
Anyway seem like a nice mod :smile.gif:
You should check the new download - I've made new symbols for them that are now part of the download.
