hey cosmic, so glad to see you return, you mods kingdogs old draco mod and plasma mod where the only mods id use back when i played minecraft when it just came out of alpha and i'm so glad to see cosmic coming back, you said you need a new tool utility for the mod i was wondering if you looked into minecraft forge? it has all these new hooks for you to tie all your ores two so that other mods work well together and has a block dictionary so that if another mod has copper it can use the copper from either mod for both mods items and recipes, just thought id add my opinoun. any way its good to see you back man ^_^b
How have you been, im so glad youre still around, weve missed you...
I've still been here, just patiently waiting for Notch to do something for modders...
But he's taking too long and I thought the 'release' of Minecraft was a good opportunity to start again, even if Notch still doesn't care about us little old modders...
But thanks, and I've been good. :smile.gif:
I'm glad to see some of you guys still around, too! :smile.gif:
I thought no one cared about my mods anymore...
hey cosmic, so glad to see you return, ... i'm so glad to see cosmic coming back
Thanks. :smile.gif: I never really went anywhere personally... It just got to be a real pain (and time sucker) to keep updating the mod...
Everytime I did it my wife complained I was spending all my time on it.

Yeah I heard about Minecraft Forge some time ago. I still need to look into it a little more, but it's definitely a possibility.
The main feature it has that I really want is fixing the old limited number of sprite and IDs issues, which back when my mod was originally released no one had a fix for.
I'm very, very glad to see people have fixed that problem now... Modding would basically be dead without it.
But I think the compatibility of Forge is somewhat still lacking for many of the modders. I'm trying to figure out why that is... usually there's a good reason for it...
And I'm also looking into alternatives for the sprites/IDs issue, as well... just in case.
If there are no good alternatives to these things then the upcoming release of Cosmic Mods will be using Minecraft Forge... And whatever I choose I plan to stick with for the long-run, so I'm trying to choose carefully.
Anyway, I'm glad to see some people are still interested in my mods! It makes my very happy and it gives me incentive to continue.
Thank you, everyone. :smile.gif:

War doesn't decide who is right, just who is left...
Just an update:
I don't think I'll have it ready for this weekend, or even possibly this week... Don't get your hopes up.
I'm still trying to work out kinks in all the modding solutions... None of the APIs or mods available have everything I need. Scokee's APIs are close, and I could probably finish and release the mod again with those, but they are not quite flexible enough... I don't think scokee has flexibility in mind with his Tool API.
So I'm thinking about something that I've thought about since I began modding... Making my own 'API's.
And... well... hoping other modders will start using them and I won't just have wasted my time.
Basically, I am thinking about creating a "Modloader++" set... an extension to Modloader, that will not only allow new tools and blocks and etc. to be created (with flexibility that scokee doesn't have!) and work together, but also do a lot of other things some of the other APIs do... and easier... as well as giving modders new functions that are needed in the modding community... but for some reason no one made.
..... And I'm not sure why no one has done this before... It confuses and infuriates me! *cookie for reference*
This will take some time... but I hope it will save everyone time in the end.
...... Or I might still find a different solution out there and worry about a 'Modloader++' some other time... We'll see. :smile.gif: I'll let you guys know this week.
Well which ever way you go Cosmic, we`ll be waiting for you here.
I think it would be great to develop your own API, and giving it features that arent currently around anywhere would help all modders, so good on you!!!
Take care and chill with whatever ya do mate :smile.gif:

War doesn't decide who is right, just who is left...
... Not exactly sure what to do now.
I just now read that Jeb plans to start work on the Mod API as his new goal. (FINALLY!!!)
This leads me to some confusion...
If I create an API, I may just be wasting time, because the official API may replace all my code, entirely.
If I don't... then I'm basically just wasting a little time (less time) until the Mod API comes out.
So... What do I decide? Well, I'll tell you... Change of Plans...
Because the Mod API is going to be released soon, but not soon-soon (March-ish?)...
I've decided to just try to use whatever is available (like Minecraft Forge, or Scokee's Tool API, or both) until the release of the API.
In the meanwhile, I might also throw in a few little tweaks of the code wherever I need, and then possibly suggest they be added to Minecraft Forge. Because Forge is in the talks with Jeb (at least according to Jeb), so whatever I add there should be put into the Mod API, or well, at least I can hope it will be eventually.
So what this means is... Less work for me! (Muahahaha)... No seriously, this does mean a little less work than I originally planned, which also means a sooner re-release.
But in exchange, I'll ask that none of you become too attached to your save-games because things might change when updates come. ;P
Although I'm not sure how many updates there will actually be now that Minecraft is officially released... I'll try to make sure your saves (with my mod installed into them) still work between updates... I just can't promise that a block here or there won't switch to something else completely. And I can't promise 100% compatibility (I never could, really... but at least I tried).
Anyway... I apparently like to ramble. I'll try to finish up work on updating the mod this week. :smile.gif:
Maybe I can get it re-released before Christmas, and have time to make something new and special as a Christmas present? ;D
No promises, but you can probably look forward to the re-release by the end of this weekend. I'll try not to disappoint.
(although, real life gets in the way sometimes...)
In the meanwhile you guys should check out the GLSL shader mod, if you haven't already. I've been working to put together a bunch of shaders and trying to recompile all the old ones. It's a little laggy for now, but it really adds a lot of flare to the old minecraft. ;D
I just wanted to say I'm glad your working on this mod again. best ore mod ever. no rush, it kinda pisses me of that notch left minecraft without even helping with mod support, but umm yeah goodluck and such

To be honest, I'm kind of glad Notch backed down from lead. I think he was kind of 'holding it back' because it was his creation and his dream, and he wanted to make it into something specific.... Even though most people wanted different stuff. And I understand why he would do that, but I mean... to just ignore modders for so long without even so much as a "hey, how're you doin?"... That hurt, Notch... That hurt. :sad.gif:
I think Jeb saw this and that's why his first goal is going to be a Mod API.
... But I could be wrong *shrug* It doesn't matter anymore, I'm just happy a Mod API is finally a priority! YAY! :biggrin.gif:
