I'm trying to figure out how to use the brushes, and was wondering if some of these could be done with brush commands currently:
A sphere brush to change biome (acknowledging that biome is based on column, and so it would really effect a disk of columns)
A sphere brush (or combo of brushes) that works similar to naturalize. Change top x layers of stone to dirt, and then top layer of dirt to grass. I saw a suggestion of using a disk brush masked to stone, but that wouldn't really work to paint mostly vertical surfaces
A sphere brush to flatten (not smooth) within a 2 block tolerance. So, any air at y>-1 changed to stone, and any blocks at y>1 changed to air. I have tried using the deform brush, but it doesn't make sense to me. /br deform sphere 5 y+=1 results in it acting like an eraser, and /br deform sphere 5 y-=1 results in it just filling in spheres of stone. Perhaps someone could help me understand how the deform tool works?

If you have Forge installed (2228 here, I just drop it in the correct mods folder) it's above my pay grade...
I have modified my mods folder slightly ~\Roaming\.minecraft\mods\version (1.9, 1.10.2, and 1.11.2).
Maybe a conflict... try removing all other mods temporarily.

I'm running Forge 2252, Liteloader, Optifine, ArmorStatusHUD, JourneyMap, ChunkBorders, TreeCapitator, and an Xray mod. All of those work perfectly.
It's only when I add the worldedit-forge-mc1.11-6.1.6-dist.jar file to the mods folder that the game freezes at "Loading World" and never reaches "Building Terrain", which typically appears 1-2 seconds after I see "Loading World".
Are we supposed to have a WorldEdit.zip file somewhere in the client folders like we used to back around the age of 1.7.2?

I don't have a WE zip file.
I run LiteLoader, Optifine, Julians x-ray, and a few others without seeing what you are.
You might try dragging your other mods to your desk top temporarily...
Don't do it! Don't do it! I learned a long time ago not to ask sk89 for help after he totally lost his mind on some poor kid that was brand new to mods and asking for help.
The reason it doesn't work is because I can't launch it. The error code is:
That is not enough info I was thinking that you would provide
OS version , Computer specs , etc...
Java version
and the crash log from the crash directory
even run the game in a vanilla profile , press F3 and take a screenshot , then post it here
So I'm guessing Vanilla Minecraft 1.11.2 works fine , but crashes when you run a Forge 1.11.2 profile
This error is happening outside of the game / Java dependencies are missing . If this is a Mac you'll need Oracle Java 8 . For testing purposes remove all the mods from the mods dir and run the forge 1.11.2 profile . if it does not launch , then the game / dependencies are not installed correctly
i have a problem setting the 2nd position with the wand.
the way the game has configured the right click, it places it instead of marking the 2nd position.
is there a fix for this?
Are you using the wooden axe to //pos1 & //pos2?
That is the default wand and because it's an item it cannot be placed.
You can also //pos1 and //pos2 (where you stand) or even //hpos1 & 2 (where the cross hairs are).
There is a downloadable .PDF list of commands in my signature that you may find helpful.

With the correct version of WE installed I've never seen a crash in over 6 years of single player.
It might be Forge... often the most current version doesn't play well with all Mods. Where possible I use the recommended version not the most recent.
11.2 single player works for me with Forge 2200.

I clicked on the link for the forge version, but it said "Not found" is there another place I can download it or something???

Thanks for any help or advice!
When I use /snap list (wolrdedit forge)
"No snapshots are available. see console for details" always appears,
I made the "backups" folder, and put the save in it.
I dont know where goes wrong, pls help.
I saw wiki, but it seemed not to work for forge worldedit.

I almost never use Forge's latest post...
Just for fun try the recommended.
Other than that I can be of no more help.

Ahhh! It's been so long since I played Minecraft that I didn't even notice I grabbed the latest and not the recommended.
Unfortunately, 2228 is giving me the same problem. Oh well. Thanks anyway. I guess I'll have to wait for an official 1.11.2 release.

I finally got around to trying this.
It's AmbientOcclusion's X-Ray mod that is causing the incompatibility and hanging my Minecraft client.
I'm going to test uyjulian's X-Ray mod now... (It works, but it's no good because the visible blocks are all black.)
Official PermissionsEx Troubleshooter
Add http://curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/222539-gammabright/2348870 and it'll solve the black blocks. Julian actually recommends it.

You did not state for what version , so here is setup for 1.11.2
Install Forge ,http://files.minecraftforge.net/
These mods must be placed in " .minecraft / mods / 1.11.2 " , directory
http://builds.enginehub.org/job/worldedit/9766/download/worldedit-forge-mc1.11.2-6.1.7-SNAPSHOT-dist.jar

It would be helpful to give us some information , such as logs .

i'll clarify what i said:
the use item/place block places the "wooden axe" onto the wall and the only workaround i saw is to place 4 tools into the block i want to mark
the wand marks the 1st position fine, but right clicking the ground does nothing
i used the offhand to try and right click that way but it didn't work.
this is where i got my worldedit file
https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/worldedit
i don't know how to propley mark the 2nd position and it gets really tedius using the console //hpos2 over and over.
