I don't have the crashing issue, so can't help there sorry. But thank you for your report!
If there was an SSP version, it's broken now anyways, so your donating for latest version support. Personally I believe this to be Notch's best update yet, and so I want to support it in particular. :smile.gif:

Floating islands is epic BTW.
Floating islands is far better than the default generation, I have to admit. I plan on generating chunks with a variety of the settings located here, as well as with custom generated settings, in order to create a very diverse world.
Thanks for your contribution to the modding community R-T-B. I would donate if I was currently employed and had money to spare. Look forward to a donation in the future, though. Keep up the good work and let me know if you want any bugtesting, etc. done. I have a 12GB DDR3 1333 / Xeon E5520 Quad-Core Processor server sitting roughly 10 feet away from me :wink.gif:.
Not a problem, but for the record, that was a lot of work. I can't imagine writing it from scratch. Bucyruss must be a frickin' genius.
I'm also a programmer and I totally agree with this.
I am finding beta 1.2 SSP very buggy and I don't think it will stay around very long, so you are looking at having to redo this again soon, Sisyphus-like, pushing the rock up a hill over and over.
I hope that's not the case, as it's working fine for me. But then again my machine is ridiculously over-performing for minecraft.
I will update it again even without donations, it's just a matter of how rushed I feel, as I have a tendency to stick to versions I like at home and refuse notch's updates unless there's a good reason. :wink.gif:
In this case, that reason was our friends, the squids. Anyone else love those guys? Completely useless, but epic all the same.
I would donate if I was currently employed and had money to spare.
No worries man, being a freelance programmer believe me I can relate to low money troubles. :wink.gif:
For programmers and to give non-programmers an idea of the work involved.
These are the class mappings I used to generate these mods from the original decompiled alpha sources. These were discovered by using similar-size mapping of the decompiled classes and trial and error. I'll post these mappings with each release for the communities benefit:

Hey R-T-B, have you ever seen my "Eagle's Paradise" map? I posted the settings for it in the B&TM settings thread, though for some reason it has not made it's way into the thread's poll, (trust, the settings where/are outragess). Made the world look like giant sized catacombes. If you ever get the chance, you should try them out.

I agree, at least as far as SMP is concerned (I don't play SSP). Frequent black screen crashes regardless of Render Distance and updated video card drivers (see earlier post). Also, huge chunk sized craters (validated by both my friend and I) in the ground (on my friend's SMP server, not mine).

Wow, that does look pretty nice. I will try those settings out on my SMP server and get back with you on screenshots, etc.
Wow, I finish my SSP version, and no sooner than 2 seconds later Notch pushes out an update.
No more time to work right now. The SSP version has to wait until later today, unfortunately. Also the above SSP table of obfuscation translations is now invalid. Oh joy.
SMP still works though.
EDIT: Seems I spoke too soon. Everything works fine, including the translation table!

I'm not so sure that the update broke the mod. It was just bugfixes, so nothing should have gotten moved around. I assume this from previous updates.
Actually, you are right. I only assumed it was broken because of the changes in the .class file sizes between my mod and the new update. Turns out the size changes are due to MY changes, not Notch's.
Wow, sleep deprivation can do things to you man.
Anyhow, I'm in the process of posting SSP version now. It works fine.
got it working I had to change the words in the command line you show. "BiomeTarrain.jar" not "BiomeTarrainMod.jar" this should match the jar file you place in your server folder.
if you have the EXE version server file open new text file and enter
select "save as" give it the name you want with .bat at the end. example: biomeserver.bat
it will then become a .bat file. place it in the folder that has your Minecraft_Server.exe file with the mod files.
double click the .bat file and command line will launch with the server and you may now log in.
I'm not sure if this problem is still revelent, but in the 1.2.6 version the underground lake generator sometimes puts holes in the bedrock where the lower part of the lake would be created. Another minor anoyance was that they would sometimes pop up in the middle of the ocean, creating a sort of bubble.
Really appreciate this port. Tried it on my SMP and it seems to work.
At the very least it creates a terrain that looks different from what I normally see.
However i've tried messing with some of the values and found that some things don't seem to work:
(for each of these I completely deleted the world folder after changing the .ini file)
waterLevel-> doesn't seem to change when I input values: I tried 20, and 120 and it always looked like there was no water at all, perhaps it's defaulting to 0.
biomeTrees-> don't seem to be working anymore since notch probably changed the tree code a good bit.
From testing some of the preset values people have come up: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=93573&start=90#p1507157 It seems that your mod currently does -something- but sadly doesn't result in the same landscapes as these settings do =(
Ive read everything here and in op's post many times and im still stumped and its still not working :/
Can someone post an in depth complete tutorial please telling me what files i need where and what to do from steps a to b please :smile.gif:
You need to give us more info:
1. what OS are you running?
2. are you trying to run SMP (Survival Multiplayer) or SSP (Survival Single Player)?
since this is based off the original BiomeTerrain mod you might want to check it for more documentation: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=76184

Can someone write a detailed tutorial on how to install this and how to tell if it's actually functioning?
Right now my server.bat reads
