So can you attack it's weak point for massive damage?

Games that are still enjoyed thanks to modding-
Morrowind, Oblivion, Starcraft, Garrys Mod, Half-Life (And thus TF2, Portal, ectectect), ect.
Modability isn't just a word I made up, it's the line between Minecraft being a fad and a cult classic.
Makes your loyal Crab even more loyal by having it as your personal mount! have it attack with you when you attack another mob while riding it. Also make it dig! (land crabs dig burrows)
Considering dungeons are quite rare, the mounts will be hard to find making a Crab mount a difficult yet rewarding task!
crabs spawn in water and on sand, which makes sense, but spawning on sand could make it spawn in a desert. Crabs live in beaches close to water as i was told. So maybe this should only spawn in water, but be able to walk onto land.

I've been thinking for a while and my best results are to have baby crabs spawn in well lit water and masses of baby crabs spawn on rare gravel beaches and have adult king grabs spawn in dark lit water (level 1-4 light) so as to have them only be found deep under water in the ocean so getting their precious drops would be dangerous.
Heres a diagram I drew to clearly explain this:
= baby crab
= king crab
Yellow = sand
Brown/Purple Material = gravel
and the water is self-explanatory

Good Idea, I didn't think about the fact that they would spawn in desert. IF you can programm it, it would be awesome!
Perhaps we can look at the spawn code for Squid (default) and Brain Slime (outdated, but these only spawn on dirt, sand and gravel NEAR water. I've never seen them in a desert.)

Great idea, but by your diagram it looks as if there are a lot more crabs then there needs to be. Maybe have it set to about 20 or 30 crabs max on one map (but they will have to despawn) Also, are thse baby crabs in the ground?
Ok, I have been working with Google Sketchup and Paint.net to get a nice image of how it MAY look. I said MAY because velvokay hasn't send me a more recent model yet. I made the model in GS after the image I recieved some time ago. I don't know if he updated it yet.
Anyway, about the image (check OP). I like the way the texture turned out, because I think that it really fits in the entire Minecraft mob collection because of it. The texture is not to realistic but not to cartoony either. Some things I'm having doubts about are the eyes and the size of the claws. I think the claws may need to be bigger, but I like them this way to. The legs could stay as the spider legs, but Idk if velvokay changed this already. Ill wait for MCP to update before I expect any progress of him/her.
I totally support this!
So here is a Diamond for you :3
LOVE THE IDEA AND WILL DEFINITELY SUPPORT
I APPROVE
I made this map! Please check it out! It's a really awesome map that took me over a year to make! :3

You can remove the 2 for eyes and the 2 for mandibles and just make them a part of the skin texture itself.
Yeh I think that's the plan Idd :smile.gif: Thanks for the support ,you guys.
Add some colors....let them blend with Sand and Dirt...
Colorful crabs...
Can they be....Defensive and Offensive?
I have seen a MOD that makes butter....
I see potential!
No, we have tortoises that do that.
That would be a Japanese Spider crab.
I saw those at an aquarium once,
