That's weird that there are no replies. This is exactly the mod that I was looking for though. Notch approves
One request that I might add though, would it be possible to cycle through all of the available paintings rather than choosing one at random? Like the painting possibilities would be numbered 1-20, so the first painting you put down would be #1, but if you destroy that painting the next one you place will be #2. If you don't destroy the first painting and keep on placing others, then they're all painting #1, i.e. the pointer for the next painting doesn't advance unless you destroy one.
About bloody F***ing time! I was starting to believe no one would ever make this mod. Thank you kind sir for making it. I'm positive that even light mod users will find this mod enjoyable.

I honestly dont know how i would go about doing this, tbh im just beginning to work with java :/
HOLY HALIBUT BATMAN!!! but honestly. great, especially for a first mod. Now I can have some nice signs along with decoritave paintings
I'd give you a diamond but that's too generic. so heres a mushroom!
I love what you've done, but I'm also going to push you to do a selector. Ideal Notch-based solution would be...
Right-click and hold, scroll wheel progresses through all paintings that will fit in the selected location. They appear on the wall as you scroll. Find the one you like, release right-click to place selected painting.
Wow! Thanks so much for this, it eases the difficulty of my current secret project greatly.
Also, seriously, I wonder what took so long for someone to do this.
OMG not even kidding how much relief this is to have this expansion. Along with Fancy Pack I now have so many more decorating options at my disposal.
But yeah, the next step would be for someone to write a mod that lets us choose what painting we put down, instead of this absolutely ridiculous current random system. You might ask the guy that made Fancy Pack, as he lets you choose among his new stone ware and bone items by right clicking on them when they're placed. Doing so cycles one by one through the choices.
Hmm... maybe I should just ask him if he can do it.
OMG OMG OMG THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, ive been requesting this mod for weeks finaly someone who can make a mod i want. but quick question . can u make a tutorial or video tutorial of how to change the class to read even more paintings or less , so for people like me who have a java dev kit and time can change it up to higher paintings.
where are u learning your java . book , youtube, a classroom and how far in it are you like 1 week, 2 weeks, 2 months?
if u dont mind answering that is.
see i start my java classes at school tomorrow and ive been doing a lil on the web however feedback from someone else who is just starting will help me figure out how to go about studying and learning.
after all ill be entering the BPA compitition in just under 2 months and i dont even know the language

Yah well ya see.... i have like zero java skills, i just looked for a pattern and found one, this mod was kinda simple to make, and i could honestly make any sized painting up to 4x4 maybe, havent tried above yet, will now though.
Dont think that becuase i have no skills that this mod doesent work though, ive tested it ingame and all the new paintings come up along with the old ones
see, the problem is the game uses rand.nextInt to pick which painting to use so idk what i could change it to to make them get picked in order becuase its just ONE int and has nothig to rely on to get to a next number,or in this case, the next painting in series
Im sure there is some way i could add something for it to rely on, but i dont know how i would do that:/
If you could point me to a website to learn java more it would be appreciated.
Why not just change the crafting so that you have to make the larger paintings from smaller ones, and by placing a larger one in the crafting grid, it returns the amount of 1x1 required to make it. Then, make it so that paintings only cycle through their own size set of paintings.
this kid is about as experienced with the language as i am but thats a genius idea , lol do what ever works
but here is my idea
this is art file []
i want to create a system useing [] x4
so we can have 4x that are curently avalable
and make a the on right click choose the file it reads from [] 1 2 3 or 4
then you can customize each so there are LOTS of paintings

Dude, that's a very clever workaround if it can be done.
Brilliant mod! Like others, I have been waiting for something like this since I made my first painting in Minecraft.
I would love more to choose from and a menu selection process too, but what you have done so far is amazing and more important you were the first to do it.
Paintings and what we can do with them is very important to me and my theme. You have a very big thank you and my hearty congratulations for a job well done! + 100x
ps. my other big wish for paintings is that they can be modded to hang on floors and ceilings as well as walls! That's the holy grail for me! :smile.gif: Here's wishing...
