Now regarding the biomes, I haven't really looked into that part of the code yet, It would be nice to have enough new models and make them spawn only in certain biomes so we can make specific fauna for every one. I'll look into that later after completing more models
Good plan - there aren't enough creatures yet to distribute to biomes and have them appear unique and populated.
I wonder if you could make the bears a little hostile - they seem too nice now. Maybe only a 3 square radius, or reskin the bear into a black bear that will tear your buttocks off?
I was riding along in a minecart on the surface and WHAM! ran into a pack of lions - they stopped the minecart and all hell broke loose - I almost made it out alive if it weren't for those wolves. Hearing the wolves growl and howl while you are coming back up to the surface is another amazing and heart-stopping experience. This mod is so awesome!
There were 4 or 5 more bears at first, and there are two you can't see. My first reaction was "Finally! A challenge!" But then I decided to take a screenshot to post on here.
Sooo...bug report. I stumbled across a pack of about 15ish bears that were all crowded around a small 10-block area. Haha. :tongue.gif:
EDIT: I don't like it when lions spawn on my super-lit island...it's meant to be a safe-haven. :sad.gif:

Not a bug. Default Minecraft does that as well. I've encountered areas with 10+ sheep on the screen at once, sometimes cows, but usually pigs. It happens sometimes. I would have been surprised if it didn't happen with this mod actually. Mouser X over and out.
I'll download this next time I play minecraft. Really cool mod, the textures look really nice.
I didn't read anything about biomes in the original post, but it would be great (unless it is already added/planned) if the mobs only spawn in certain biomes.
Bears = forests/taiga, lions = savannah (or grass desert right? Whatever notch called it), wolf = forests/taiga, and wraiths = desert (just sounds right to me...)
But I bet someone has already mentioned that. Just my 2 cents. (or whatever you call them)
I believe the biped problem is caused by biome/terrain mod. Not sure though. It hasn't happened to me.
Oh and Zhark - GREAT work. I look forward to future updates. The wraith is already making me happy in the face. And one question would it be possible if you knew how to change the mobs hotility? As in like...when I play peaceful, they are still there. Could you fix so they spawn on easy+?
EDIT (Double Post):

Also, is the lion's snout centered?
The snout is supposed to be centered but the way Minecraft renders it, it's just naturally off I think.
Bears should drop Raw Bear Steak, which heals 3.5 hearts. When it's cooked, it heals 7 hearts. Obviously, if they drop this, they should be rarer than livestock and as hardy as monsters.
Wraiths should just drop random stuff, like that of a fallen traveler.

Hi, I just figured it out. So what I'm planning on doing is that the bear and lion won't attack on peaceful, they will still spawn tho.

You can change their AI for certain difficulties? Oh and do you plan on updating before or after notch patches again next week? Just wondering.
I'm a bit curious about what you plan on doing for the Werewolf mob :happy.gif:
It would be interesting if Werewolves had various forms. Human, hybrid. I'd think it wouldn't be terribly difficult compared to what you're doing now...
.....
Something else to give thought... Is there a way to tie mob spawns to biomes? I'm sure someone else has mentioned it here or elsewhere before, though.. (Sorry, but ten pages of posts is too many to sift through at the moment xD).
Not really demanding anything from you, just some ideas/suggestions :3 I haven't tried mob-modding, so I've no clue how these things may work out.
That idea is quite interesting, I think it may be possible to make a shapeshifting mob, It will work like this: using the same kind of code as in the sheep, where two models are drawn at once and once a boolean changes, it displays the inner model only (like in the sheep when it releases wool and shows only a thinner sheep). So I could try and do a double model where there is a smaller human form inside the werewolf and once daytime comes, the boolean changes and shows only the inner model (human form).

well if u do add "biomes spawns" make 2 versions so i dont have to go hunting them down. or make a config file that says you can change what biome or all biomes / if they even spawn at all. :happy.gif: love this mod! but the wrath shoul only have a 2 range because it can FLY! HERES A DIMOND!:

On the subject of the Wraith, I think it would be a good idea to have them spawn only in certain conditions, not just dark, although I can't think of what it would be exactly... Perhaps, when ruins and temples are implemented into the game, if you explore one and disturb some sacred alter, you will have to deal with the wraiths on the way back. I think some sort of sound should signal their arrival, perhaps something creepy? Or some bone chilling music that continues playing until you get away from/slay them all. Either way, they should not appear without some warning. Other than that, they look REALLY cool. How exactly did you make the 3D path finding work? It looks like it would be hard to do...
On the subject of the animals, I really like what you're going for here. I have not tried out the mod myself because I have decided temporarily to not install any more mods. But they look Really good!

GENERATION 22: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment.
Definitely a great mod, adds more to watch out for along with variety. However, I think wolves should run faster, and lions could jump at you like spiders do. I also think that perhaps wolves could give off angered howls of pain instead of just little grunts when hurt.
Is it just me or do wraiths seem a bit too... stiff? Maybe make their arms move a little, or the bottom of the gown flap, something like that if it's possible.

they just move the head. They're based on the model biped and since they have no legs, you don't see too much movement.

I can modify behavior depending of difficulty. I'm planning on updating on monday.
Ah nice. Oh and what's the bug on the Wraith? Will it be done most likely by next update or no.

Can't wait to see the Wraiths come out.

When I go in options, sound is off. When I turn it on, MC crashes and I get this.
