Even better: make white wolves a tundra/taiga-only mob and have desert wolves/coyotes for deserts, with normal wolves operating in everything in between, except rain forests.
Ok, I ported your changes to the Mi and Fo classes over to the modbuilder ones. Not sure I got everything, but its working great so far with all the modbuilder based mods I have, and I haven't noticed any change in spawning or behavior... Look em over though.

Hey, thanks for the help. I'll look at the code tonight.
BTW, your previous post was very informative, I found your first impressions on the mod interesting...
I was also thinking of adding a lioness, in fact, the model for the lion could be changed to avoid displaying the chest and head hair...
I was also wondering if the lions were too nearsighted, perhaps increasing its line of sight a couple more blocks is not a bad idea. I just don't want to make the day too dangerous
dude awsome mod, by far my favorite to the point if i had to choose one mod ever.... it would be this one. on a side note, i run a server for me and my brother, can i put this mod in server side or will it only be local?
Holy hell, I was just doing the run of shame back from my spawn to my base, and I saw my first wolf pack. Luckily they didn't see me, because they were all ripping into something, I think it was a zombie. I couldn't see worth a damn.
Wolves need tails I think. Bears get em so its not fair wolves don't. Here's some tail ideas.
I think 3 is best because it would work for a wolf, and would work for a fox too. Not sure you could fit all those parts on your 2 texture setup though, its like a 6 sided unwrap for 5 blocks. 1 would make a suitable tail too, and it's only 2 blocks.
I'm always happy to help, especially with a mod like this one. Putting those files together was my first time modding for minecraft, but I learned a bit doing it, and I've tried pretty much every mod on the site, and I couldn't break the game... Well actually, timeroots human plate broke it, but it broke it without your mod too... I have to look into that.
Thanks winddelay for the class merge! How did you do that? Decompile with MCP and then diff the two classes to determine changes?
thanks!
Nah I compared and copied decompiles for both files in Jd-Gui, Made new txt files that merged the important parts, and then made them new class files in netbeans like it showed in here. I had to set up lwjgl-2.6, which I did with the help of this tut here. I did use mcp to look at deofuscations of the files from vanilla minecraft, and tried to use it to recompile...
I spent like 2 hours fiddling with mcp trying to recompile and reobfuscate, but I gave up and tried something different. Mcp seems nice for its deobfuscation, and it definitely helped getting the different variable defines between the 2 mods to line up, but its recompile and reobfuscate setup wouldn't work for me, and made me feel retarded. Now that I have netbeans set up I can compile in like 2-3 mins tops.

Is this compatible with the Mother and Baby spider mod?
It should be, It doesn't share any class files. That's one I haven't tested though, because I don't want to have to go hunt down every nest to save my old save files next patch. Same reason I don't run the emerald mod, even though it looks cool.
I tested this mod with the Pets-gangs mod, and the new mobs just behave like the non combat mobs do. I'm not sure how the wolves would respond, didn't get close enough to one yet. Bears just follow you, and lions follow you like really really uncomfortably close. We should get Corosus to add support for them.
Thanks for the detailed info, winddelay - I'm going to check that process out and see if another retard such as myself can be schooled in these matters.
Great job! You get major kudos for learning all of that stuff to add new mobs. That's the one thing I was upset about buying minecraft, coming to the realization that I had seen and killed every monster within the first day. (minus blobs, still haven't seen one) Keep up the good work! And go go gadget bats!
P.S. My only negative comment is that wolf sounds get really really annoying really fast. Probably because they seem to be louder than everything else. But other than that - AMAZING job!
P.P.S. This was the 2nd mod I ever installed, just thought I'd add that.
tldr: good job! Wolves are loud. This is the 2nd best mod I've ever dled.
I have some actual suggestions this time instead of my stupidity.
First of all, the monster that everyone is hoping for, the dragon. You could even take the graphic someone posted on here. Spawning would be simple, it requires a large amount of space, say, 15 blocks, to spawn.
Second, wolves should be in packs. I know you have heard this a lot, but you would be able to easily do this by making it so that where there is one wolf, another will spawn until it reaches a cap. A cap could also be used to make sure they ONLY spawn in packs as well.
Third, lions, bears, and wolves are excellent. Now, for more ideas, you could quite easily put in more passive animals, such as Horses (for riding) and possibly, by adding in the factors for size like the chicken does, you can even add in the small vermin like squirrels and rabbits!
All in all, this mod is excellent. Even more so with the Pet mod, which allows the player to actually have pet lions, bears, and wolves.
Thanks for listening.

I don't know why, but I really like the idea of adding rabbits. Also, mice and/or rats. Mice/rats can spawn anywhere, on a 1x1x1 block (they'd be a lot smaller than a full block size though). They'd be useless, since I can't think of anything they could drop, but they could add to the atmosphere with their squeaks and noises. Rabbits could drop "cotton" which could be used to craft cloth.... Or, perhaps, 1 piece of leather (at most, due to size). Though, mobs like these should be fairly infrequent. Mice/rats especially, since they'd only be good as a nuisance.
I'm quite interested in dragons as well, but at a 15x15 size, that's huge. That's very nearly an entire chunk size. In my opinion, half that size would still be plenty big, and probably still too big (with wings folded, I mean. With its wings spread, it should be as long as it is wide). You could probably run through the code used for Ghasts to get ideas on implementing a dragon.
I do remember seeing your "to-do" list earlier. I know you have plans, and an order you want to do them in. I fully expect you to continue following that plan (and more or less recommend that you follow that plan). However, I thought I'd provide my thoughts on possible ideas for later. As you are no doubt aware, there's other things I'm patiently waiting on, so please ignore me if my ideas/opinions get in the way. Awesome work so far. Keep it up, and I look forward to whatever you have in store in the future. Mouser X over and out.

Hi, I was also wondering about the tail, when I was working on the lion tail, I accidentally created a 'penis' for the lion. It was hilarious but I got sidetracked and forgot about the tail. I think I'll try to do something like your third model. I'm planning on adding a thin rectangle, and using the transparency of the texture, we could change the shape of the tail to fit different models (i.e. Lion as well)
I was trying it and got this
