Install it again and get an error report. You can get one by using MCPatcher and using the "Test Minecraft" option.
oh please mcpatcher? that piece of junk never works.it just gets stuck on loading minecraft jar when i click test.
its only use is for wasting disk space.
Wow, you just have no luck. Modloader works. The MC Patcher works. Do you have any old mods installed in the mod folder? Look in your minecraft folder and see if there's a mods folder there. If so, remove everything from it. Start fresh with new downloads of any mods you want.
Still having problems? Go back to your minecraft folder and see if there's a file there called modloader.txt (or just modloader if you have the default settings in windows). Open it in notepad and copy & paste what it says here. If there's no modloader.txt, then grab this, run it and follow the directions on screen. Only paste here, not paste bin.
Once you get to the adfly screen, ignore everything below the blue bar at the top. Wait until the counter on the right side stops & says "Skip Ad", then click it. Not that it matters, it goes the same place as the direct link. If you're using the file from there and getting a crash, you didn't install it right, or you have old mods in your mods folder.
ok this is probably a very stupid question so please dont grief me just ignore but how do i get minecraft.jar as ive never had it and know idea what it is
Well....only think i can think about is yogsbox. But i found a folder named mods_ and got rid of everything in it yet still same problem soo idk now
So, you do have yogsbox installed or not? According to what I found about it, that has a ton of mods included. Could be the source of the problem. You're still getting the same error with all those mods not loading?

I'm not sure how / where yogsbox gets installed. If you say the mods folder is empty or doesn't exist, and you have a clean jar, there must be something else somewhere. Go to the minecraft folder where minecraft is installed. Make double sure there's no mods folder there, or it's empty. Be sure you're in the correct folder, because on a system with more than one user account, there will be a minecraft folder for each user, be sure you're in the correct place for the current user account. Best way to find it on windows (don't know about mac or linux) is to hit the start button, and type in the search box %appdata% and hit enter. That will bring you to the appdata folder for the current user. In there you will find the .minecraft folder. I'm sure you know all this, just covering all the steps.
Look in the .minecraft folder for a folder called mods, be sure it's empty.
Look in the .minecraft folder for a folder called config, be sure it's empty.
Be sure you're installing to the jar file in the bin folder of that user account. It's possible there are multiple user accounts on your system and you're looking in the wrong one? Other than that, I don't know. The only thing after that is to delete everything in the .minecraft folder except the world saves folder (called "saves" imagine that) and start fresh.
OH! MY! GOD!!! I just ran mcpatcher on a vanilla MC and added modloader to the list of additions... and IT WORKED!
EDIT:oops... apparently injecting it with mcpatcher does NOTHING
Modloader itself does nothing that is visible to the end user, it only helps other mods load and be compatible. If you installed modloader with the patcher and minecraft runs, then you are OK to install other mods. But it's best to install them at the same time as modloader with the patcher and start from a fresh jar file. Some mods can just be dropped into the mods folder and don't need to be installed in the jar though, read the install instructions for the mod you want to install.
When you say "copy all the files and folder" do you mean the "minecraft" itself or just all the mods?
You want to copy all the files & folders from the mod to the minecraft jar file. Look on youtube for any number of videos explaining how to install mods. Or use MCPatcher to install mods.
but how are mods supported by minecraft forge supposed to work?
forge runs on modloaderMP and that runs on modloader
but minecraft forge requires mods (Modname.zip) to be in the mod folder?
causing modloader to make minecraft to crash.
please help!
P.S. im aksing because i want to use Buildcraft and redpower agan.
Edit: Problem solved. I thought I was downloading all the 15 Risugami mods. Because the .class corresponding to the number of mods here (15). I did so only put in the modloader.class in the .jar and that caused the black screen.
Yes, you have to install ALL the files from the modloader zip file into the minecraft jar file.

If you have modloader, modloaderMP, and forge all installed and working, then you put a mod in the mods folder and it crashes, that would indicate there's something wrong with that mod. Go to your minecraft folder, find modloader.txt and post it here.
if im copied the files in minecraft and delete meta-imf and start minecraft im get black shreem ( sorry for bad english )
can somebody help me please im need mods
Go to your minecraft folder, find modloader.txt and post it here.
Yeah, Risugami could better do that 'how to install' or that whole faq thing beneath the installation guide. We are NOT reading posts from bottom-to-top. :wink.gif:
You should be. If people did, there wouldn't be so many here complaining that modloader doesn't work, when usually, they messed something up because they didn't follow ALL the instructions.
A little reading won't kill you.

nice mods! :smile.gif:...But I am unable to distinguish whether some of the mods are smp compatible or not...notably the shelf mod and the elemental arrows mod. Anyone?

1) Go to Applications>Utilities and open terminal.
2) Type in the following, line by line:

3) Outside of terminal, copy all the files and folders into the mctmp directory.
4) Back inside terminal, type in the following:
rm META-INF/MOJANG_C.*
jar uf ~/Library/Application\ Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar ./

It's in a folder called minecraft on your computer's hard drive, use the texture patcher to install mods
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/232701-100-11w49aupdate-128-mcpatcher-hd-fix-223/
watch the video in the thread on how it works.
Download 7zip from 7zip.org (google would have told you that) or use the texture patcher to install mods
