Am I the only person that is worried about this being used for cheating/griefing? It would be cool if it was a server mod, but this really isn't helping the majority of server-owners that don't want their players flying around (and there are plugins out there for the ones that do).
Yes, this does bring up the problem where people start griefing with these in servers. The server I play/admin on doesn't really need to worry about that problem because of the mods we have. Any time a player uses something such as buckets or mine-carts/tracks, the server warns all mods/admins. Sometime soon boats will be added because of this mod.
Most of the time, the client crashes with these things anyways, so it can get annoying for the griefer's too.
I was going to say something regarding how griefer's can use this a bad way, but that might give people ideas.
Unfortunately the mods will be deleted from the jar, so I suggest either modifying your .jar file again afterwards, or not using the mod at all. (The former would be best.)

Is this compatible with the AUTOCART mod? The folder you have to remove, there's two files that AUTOCART tells you to remove in it.
Would it mess anything up if you remove that folder?
Also, how would this also work on a server? Would I have to mess with minecraft_server.jar (if I even can) too to get it to show up in my server?
If you're talking about the two mojang files in the META-INF folder, most--if not all--mods need that to be removed in order to work. As for how it works on servers, it is client sided so i doubt it changes anything in the server at all.
Would it mess anything up if you remove that folder?
No.

From what I've read, it will work in your local client only. Here's why:
[example]
File kz.class in minecraft.jar has random seed (for obfuscation of code) of say, 1.
File kz.class in minecraft_server.jar has random seed of 3.
What this means is that the obfuscated code from the client (minecraft.jar) isn't the same as the server's jar and therefore cannot be used in both places.
[/example]
Mod creators would have to make a new edit using the server's class files in order to make their mods work on servers.
This is so awesome. I especially liked the smoke trail.
improvements:
Allow the hoverboat to increase to any altitude as long as you hold the space bar (except over the void)
And can you make it go underwater? hehe
but overall it is very well done, it has become my favourite mode of transportation and I make "airports" around the map.
I would like to request a boat skin to fit this mod. Perhaps something in a stylized-mechanical look, in the vein of the Steampunk pack being made right now? I've tried, but I am a terrible pixel artist and also I kinda don't understand boats.

A special version need to be made for the server, and is hard*.
Anyway minecarts almost don't work in SMP, so you sould probably wait for Notch to fix this.
* I would take some time, since the class names is different, so theres the need to search again where to make the modifications, and the code to modify could be different too. Is not easy, but maybe the original dev can do it, if he is interested in clientside mods.
Are you guys talking about making it so that the server makes boats fly because if you are that is impossible due to the way the server is designed but the mod works fine on smp if you put it in your client and if i miss read this just ignore me
I agree with what someone put in earlier. I would like to make this a seperate entity then the boat if it's possible. I remember reading somewhere that Notch said something about using obsidian as an anti-grav type material. Maybe make it the bottom piece of the boat?
So maybe this:

Or even:

Obsidian would go a ways towards balancing it. Especially if you could make it run out eventually. :tongue.gif:
Now for my much sillier take on it...
Needs a button to activate and drop tnt from inventory.
TNT BOMBER FTW!!!
P.S. I was there scouting for "virgin land" (hehe) when ShaRose was filming this, totally oblivious to flying objects.
