I know a fair bit about lag. If I have similar issues testing your map with my computer I'll be happy to take a look at the circuits and make some suggestions, but I assume you generally know the basics of lag reduction right?
Just in case here are some pointers:
Repeaters are one of the laggiest redstone components in minecraft. Even when not loaded for the player they tend to trigger chunk updates just because of the kind of component they are, you are better off switching to a purely command block timing circuit using scoreboards imho, and if you don't feel comfortable with those use hopper clocks which will not cause as many chunk updates--I can tell you how to prevent item duplication in those if you end up liking them better. Occasionally using a single repeater or comparator can be useful but not something that will run regularly.
One thing you can do for Bombchus and similar modules is only run one test block constantly looking for bombchus. If they are around, only then do you activate their larger control circuit. This is what I do in space expedition, that and put less urgent checks on a slower once a second clock and distribute the checks evenly over a second. Message me if you want more info on this kind of design.
still looking forward to playing after I am not so busy in a week!
Ah, I hadn't thought of that. I made the machine almost a year ago and have made significant progress in my abilites, I just haven't gotten around to rebuilding the first item I ever did. :3
Well, I don't know how much I'm going to get done this week, despite being out of school. I'm EXTREMELY busy. :/ I'll have time tonight and Sunday, though.
AAAAAH I'm so lazy, it's driving me crazy. I will try to update the screenshots when I have some time. Life's just getting the best of me ATM.
In progress (since tuesday) I have reworked the locked doors, the problem was the painting getting in the way of the armor stand, now it's just a retextured block and everything works great! I have also changed all of the dialogues that use ridiculous amounts of repeaters to just have prompts to click in the chat. I always felt like they were too slow. Now they go as fast as you do!

sweet, this is my favorite way to do it as well. You can honestly never get the reading speed right, so you are better off letter them click a "continue" button.
If you are feeling lazy feel free to play some space expedition! The alpha testers say the new update was every bit as fun as I hoped. Loads of new seasonal creatures now! I got a fresh map download on Discord if you want to run a quick test this week as well and give your suggestions. This is the last Alpha update as the map will go into a publicly available Beta version by next weekend.

Well, guys, I've not managed to get a lot done recently, save fixing all of the bugs reported to me, as well as some work on dungeon 3 (sorry no spoilers yet, it's pretty good, in my opinion). Unless anyone wants otherwise, I won't release a fully playable version of the previously released beta. I just want to get the first three dungeons finished before I really get into a permanent public release (I guess the last one was public, but whatever)
Here's the plan:
Release Beta for 0.6.0 (first three dungeons)
Release 0.6.0
Release Beta for 0.7.0 (First five dungeons)
Release 0.7.0
Release Beta for 0.8.0 (all six dungeons)
Release 0.8.0
Release Beta for 0.9.0 (final additions and sidequests)
Release 0.9.0
-Considerable gap in time, probably-
Release Final Version
Questions, comments, concerns, just ask.
The reason I'm not releasing a final 0.5.4 is because there are probably going to be a fair bit of you playing Breath of the Wild (I can't, I'm saving up for a Switch, though.)
Wow, just looked, and I'm at 100 total downloads. Thanks, guys!
Ah, ten days with no update. Sorry, guys. I've been trying to get caught up with maps. Right now I'm playing Pokemon Cobalt and Amethyst and @Danaphanous' map (which I highly suggest you check out)
so easy to get distracted haha! btw, I if you want to link me the current build of the demo I want to install the mods on my curse profile and check this out!

By the way, thanks for the jungle bow report, forgot to comment back to that. Sounds like you've done a good deal of exploring. You should chat about your experience so far and if you have any suggestions on the thread. Next update is coming saturday!

lol I didn't find it via exploring....
You didn't really think I could start without checking out some of the new creatures, did you?
Okay, guys, scratch everything I said about a 1.8.9 update. What with the change in versions, I had to drop several mods that add many cosmetic blocks; thus, I lost a good deal of my structures. I want to update to 1.8.9, but that would be a lot of work. On the other hand, I could wait until 1.10.2 (which TaleCraft is at, one of the mods I'm speaking of), so that way I would have most of the decorative blocks (the rest I could do with MCPatcher) as well as the new command blocks. I'm at a quandary, guys.
However, I think I know what I want to do; I have always wanted to do a recreation of a Zelda game in vanilla. With this plan, I can keep working on Zelda Quest, but I can still get my command block fix. Any opinions for ones I should do?

I would wait till 1.10.2 anyway on account of the off hand wielding system.
yeah, I agree with starlight. And as far as command block fixes you are welcome to help Caplex on our projects as well lol. We will need to recruit some people familiar with custom resource packs soon if you are interested in collaborating. There are several potential map ideas on the horizon as well that I think have promise. Might be getting to those around summer.

I personally feel like a Link Between Worlds doesn't get enough love, but it doesn't hold a candle to my own nostalgia for Wind Waker. In any case I tossed my word into the hat.

It's a map.

Now's not good for me. : P
I wonder when you'll be updating some of the screenshots in your OP. c:
I'll do it this evening. :3

There are a lot of bugs that I've fixed, and I'm trying to update to 1.8.9. I'll try to get a version bugfixed for tomorrow.
I know, right? And check out the front page.
Sorry I said that, wasn't thinking about what I had to do yesterday. =P
I'll try to get it updated using 1.8.9 (seeing as the main mod finally got updated) and I'll try to get a working 1.8.9 version of 0.5.4.
You say that but now I've lost all faith!

I urge you guys to participate in the poll, or tell me. I can't make up my mind. :/
