Well, in case you guys haven't figured out yet, I suck at making puzzles, so input is greatly appreciated. :v
I too am trying to get some good ideas for puzzles in minecraft for my map so share if you find some cool styles.
Some ideas I've had are:
- around your map are carved symbols that represent 0-9 numbers. Use them in applications where an attentive player could learn to decode the carvings (such as labels on doors in sequence). If the players figures out the number system they can read them in future rooms to tell the combination or solution to certain optional puzzles.
- Have a statue with an obviously "missing" block. Have a complete statue somewhere else for them to notice. Player completes the carving/block and the doors open.
- do the timed torch thing from but with lighting something like coal blocks that have a random chance to burn out (or timed). You could have a medium-level parkour course required to light them all and the player needs to hurry through it.
- obviously the pushing statues on pressure plates thing is a classic
- maybe a puzzle where instead of killing creatures to player needs to lure them into pits or traps to press pressure plates for them?

Space Expedition to EPIC 204:Go on a Space-Age Adventure to visit and explore EPIC 204, a wacky world of dense asteroids and full of alien life! Experience Custom Seasons, Weather, Over 50 new creatures, Beautiful Biomes, Alien Ruins, Dungeons, and new space age tech crafting recipes!
Whatever you feel like doing I guess, but I'm working on a new version as we speak, but I am spending more time fixing crap I did more than a year ago than I actually do working on new stuff/fixing bugs.
Well, I haven't been getting much work done, what with ZidaneRob working on stuff, but I have been doing some texture/model related stuff. How's this for spikes?

Ah, yes. I forgot to say that you need to turn "alternate blocks" off. I am aware of this, and I will satiate the game's odd hunger for this. . Don't know why it's doing this, honestly, as that setting was always on, but at one point, I used alternate models for grass, just to break up the monotony, but when I removed the models, it always does that.

Have you ever heard of TorchLevers? Its a really cool mod that adds all sorts of neat camoflagued mechanisms for stuff like secret rooms.
And different kinds of HD Spikes
I kind of prefer the voxel style... That's why I'm not using RPCraft anymore. I'll check out that mod, though.
Its got poison, fire, wither, slow, weakness spikes.
buttons disguised as books, cookie jars, and levers disguised as torches (hence the name) there's even false blocks that can make false walls.
Well, guys, I've tracked down a few more bugs, and then it will be ready for release.
Almost done bugtesting... Expect a build tomorrow... lol but you know how I am.
