Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Adventure Map
Welcome to the Minecraft Forums thread for the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Adventure Map. This map will be based off the game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain video game made by Hideo Kojima, Kojima Productions, and Konami.
The story begins with you, Big Boss, waking up after a 9 year coma in a hospital after the events of Ground Zeros. Shortly after waking up, you meet another patient, only known as 'Ishmael', who gets you to leave the hospital as it is under attack by an unknown military force, and two strange figures. One is a man on fire, another being a child wearing a gas mask. After escaping the hospital, you meet up with Ocelot, and the two of you escape the area on horseback while being chased by a fiery apparition riding a flaming horse.
Later, in Northern Kabul, Afghanistan, Ocelot tells you that Miller has been held captive for ten days, and that he has around three days left to live. Knowing this, you have been tasked to rescue Miller, and get revenge on those who put you in a coma, and destroyed the MSF nine years ago...
Features a long campaign, roughly 50 main missions, with around another 150 side missions to do.
Opportunity to collect various resources such as metals, diamonds and fuel to help build Mother Base.
Find various collectibles, such as music discs and posters, which will reward you.
An open world experience, where you are able to travel around three different locations, Mother Base, Afghanistan and Africa.
Two large maps for both Afghanistan and Africa, 200,000 by 200,000 blocks for each, full of settlements, enemy outposts and bases, mines, and other areas native to Africa and Afghanistan.
A working multiple currency system, vital for unlocking various weapons, items, gear, and other platforms for you to explore at Mother Base.
Working Fulton Recovery System, as well as a working unlock and purchase system for weapons, armor, gear, and other items.
Each world will be populated with enemy soldiers and animals that you are able to extract and send to Mother Base.
Items from the Custom NPC's and Flans Mod Modern Weapons pack.
This map will require you to use both the Custom NPC's and Flans Mod Modern Weapons pack in order to get the full experience, such as proper guns, as well as missions. Installing these mods are simple, and a guide and link to download each mod will be provided. If you don't want to use mods, it will still be possible to explore all locations, but you will enjoy this map much more with mods installed, but it is your choice at the end.
Ok, If you have been looking around on my threads (which I doubt) you will see that I am doing some pretty strange redstone stuff. Why? I want those things to be part of my map project. Whats the project? Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Adventure Map! Why do I want to do this, well a bit of backstory.
I have been hooked onto MGSV: TPP since rumors started circulating about Hideo Kojima's next MGS game. Flash forward to 2015, The Phantom Pain gets the R18/Mature whatever you want rating, thus, I'm not able to purchase it until I'm older. I'm not going to get the game for a while, so I thought, while I wait, why don't I make a minecraft map out of it. So from mid-June, my project, named Project MGS (so original) begun. There were a few complications here and there, as well as me having to start all over again due to the original map being lost. In July 17, I had finally finished the first platform, the Command Platform, which had made building the first third of my entire project, Mother Base, a lot easier. It is now August 16 at the time of posting, almost 2 months after I started this project, and I already have gotten 3 more platforms down. How many platforms will I have exactly? Probably in excess of 20 at least. 4 platforms for each main section, Command, R&D, Support, Intel, Medical and Combat, as well as 4 for secondary sections, such as base development and brig platforms.
The plan is that the project will have 3 'stages'. Each of them being:
- Stage 1: Mother Base
- Stage 2: Afghanistan
- Stage 3: Africa
I am making progress with Mother Base, and I would like to have it completed by September or October. Afghanistan and Africa will be done after Mother Base is completed. Both Afghanistan and Africa will be 200,000^2 blocks each, making it 40,000,000 blocks each. So I estimate, the block count is going to easily exceed the 100,000,000 count. I am using the Custom NPC's mod and Flans Modern Weapons Mod as part of the project. The project will also feature tons of redstone contraptions and command blocks that will perform a variety of functions such as a Fulton Recovery System, a scoreboard for counting resources, and a customizable loadout to name a few.
(As some helpful info, the maps for Africa and Afghanistan are both 200km2, I'm pretty sure that would equal 40,000,000 blocks, but I may be wrong)
Am I crazy for doing this? Yes. Will I get bored of it and quit? Theres a chance that will happen. You people can say what you want, "You're not going to finish it" "You'll get bored and quit" but thats not going to stop me from doing this. I know this is going to take a few years to complete, but I'm just going to keep working at it. Simple as that.
If people want to help me on this project, I will be taking help, but not yet. If you are able to help with stuff like redstone, commands, and other non-building stuff, that would be appreciated. I will either post here or other places. I will start looking for help once Mother Base is 100% completed, where I will need to get help with doing Africa and Afghanistan.
Thanks for reading this post, all I really ask for at this point is your support and any assistance that you are willing to offer as I undertake this project. So once again, thank you.
Look below for various attachments of work as of 23/8/15. Will add more in the coming days.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
OK first of all I would love to help you build this map but the map is WAY TOO BIG because one minecraft world is 30,000,000 by 30,000,000 and if you go beyond that, the client will start generating ghost blocks which basically you can go through them and have no physics so you will have to decrease your map size. I wouldn't recommend you use mods because first of all most people like vanilla and don't want to play vanilla and the mods your using are not for 1.8 and 1.8 even though is bad for pvp has so much tools for map makers like 3D blocks that can animate, @e which can detect any entity and many more and people have created things like robots which can mine, kill and even have jetpacks and also a youtuber named Sethbling have created gravity gun from half life 2. The custom NPC even though it's good for map makers but it can already can be done using armor stands for example crack in the earth map (LINK:(direct link)) and the guns can already be done in vanilla as seen in Sethbling's youtube channel( if you don't know who is he is a very good redstoner and really good at command blocks) and in his channel he demonstrated in his channel in 1.8 he was able to make exp bottles into grenades and bows into rocket launchers. I also recommend you want till the the actual game comes out so you can watch the whole game on youtube and then start building the map and doing the redstone.
Since this map is very big I would volunteer to help:
What am i good at?: Building and story script writing(I won't need to do story script writing because you are following MGS V story)
How to contact me?: Just private message me on minecraft fourms or email me to [email protected]
One last thing I want to say is good luck on your map
Thanks for volunteering! When a server is up, I'll let you know so you will be able to help build.
As for the map sizes, each map is 200,000 by 200,000 blocks, which will easily fit into the world.
With the mods, I prefer to use them over redstone and commands as I find it to be more reliable and are easier to just download and install compared to typing in long commands. Some of the things I want to do with the map can only be done using mods like custom NPCs and flans, but I will try to keep the mods to a minimum. Also both mods are at 1.8 so I won't need to worry about versions. If you have any other things you wish to discuss, PM me. Other than that, thanks, and I'll get to you shortly!
For the story, I only gave the very beginning part, and all of that has been confirmed several times over. So its fine for me to put in the beginning of the confirmed story in as it doesn't ruin anything, it sets the scene of the game, and it tells the story.
