While the multiplayer map can increase the possibilities with challenges and make it more suitable for youtube, you will lose a lot of downloads from the start when people realize they need a server and a friend.
For a puzzle map it should be suitable to make the challenges easier with a friend, but still accomplishable without one.

It depends on the map's purpose. If you're trying to make a famous map that gets a lot of downloads (a tough feat to accomplish, what with so many good maps), I would go with the singleplayer one for ease of playability. However, if you just want to make something unique and interesting, I would go with the multiplayer one because that sounds very interesting and like a lot of fun. Also I think cooperative multiplayer puzzle maps are much rarer.

Since you helped me decide what it would be, i made a banner, so if you click it you get redirected to the puzzle map thread :D)
The single player map would be playable with more peoplebut also alone. The mulitplayer map needs 2 or more people to complete the map.
