Here's another screenshot, this area is meant to be extremely easy (compared to the other areas) and should give the player a break while still having some difficulty.

Wow, I really thought you managed to get those colors in default.. disappointed. I never liked how people try to make a map look better with shaders/textures/programs. It still looks cool, tho.
Well you can do a lot with recourse packs. they seem to be a little shunned on this thread. (or is it just me thinking that?) Well in the end after I started using Dokucraft High in UT3 I could never stop using it I mean while I was flying around after wards I decided to see if an area looked good in the default and it looked fine but the texture pack made it look amazing compared to the original. While making a required texture pack might be taking it to far but I would love to see people use recommended texture packs more often.
P.S I realize you are not hating on texture packs so do not take it that way I just USED YOU to get my point across! MUHAHAHAHA
Okay, this is getting ridiculous, I woke up this morning and checked this thread, to find 2 new posts since I went to bed.
2 POSTS!? A few months ago a night of sleep ment a whole new page to check, I remember the time when you had 3 new pages to check in the morning. If this continues the CTM Community will degrade to nothing and I don't like that thought, I like it here.

I don't care and I don't see why anyone would. I do what I want to do and others do what they want to. If they wish to leave / join the community they could. If it is degrading how does that effect you the people who are making maps make them and you play them. (I am good at getting points across. Sarcasm) Well long story short it is a convenience, you do not start complaining when someone stops giving you free tea. DO YOU!_!?

Despite the fact that Amlup neither designed the map for nor told you to use this texture pack? I think that's coincidence.
No I had played the map partially and than decided to use that one in particular when I restarted it, I also chose dokucraft high in particular because I know it would work the best.
Just because some people don't post here very often, does not mean that the CTM genre is dying. I've spent a lot of time working on my map, but I didn't want to post screenshots every few days. If anyone is interested, my new map will be out in 1 - 3 days. It's pretty big and should keep you busy for a while.

I've seen threads like this wave in activity, and I believe that if we will continue doing what we can, the thread is going to blossom again, (sadly I haven't been here to see what it was before). Pretty much this. With most of my pictures, I'll include one using SMP's Revival and one using Default, and only post the Revival one if it looks noticeably better than Default. I don't find this deceptive really, as I am giving a secondary picture. Just because most people play with Default doesn't mean we should conform to that and only design areas around Default.

Looks great, although I would have to agree with Eerie. Try and challenge yourself. Now, as you're a bit more experienced, this may be different for you, but as a map maker still trying to get his bearings on what he can do and what he can't, I find it fun to challenge myself to create all different types of areas. When I was still in the Advent competition, I intended to have no map be similar in there.
But yea, looks fantastic. TBH it's nothing I haven't seen before, but it's still some of the best design I've seen in awhile.

Orchard, that actually looks really good. If I may make some suggestions for the final version, make the bottom more interesting. Right now just an empty stone floor looks rather boring. As the main action is obviously in the fortress/towers/whatever, you don't need to go completely in depth with it, but just make it neat to look at.

Surely you must've noticed as well, although the previous page had some awesome screenshots, this is becoming rare.
A lot of people left/become much less active since I joined, names like theawesomeonehhh, Baked_Applez, Fangride, Aimoskeeto, Draco_Rogue, Amehtta, Bly, Delthyn, Hybran and of course the big names, Vechs, Amlup and three_two.
I know some of these people are still alive in the community, but the populous has decreased drastically.
Personally I think the decline started around the release of BD2 by Vechs, a lot of people didn't like the map at all, compliments were rare. IM did not at all help that, people complained more, and Vechs left. With Vechs gone from the forums the SH thread became much less active. It used to be a place where CTM players and makers came together and showed their stuff, discussed things, etc. Now it's basically a wasteland. After that Amlup left, I feel he only stuck around to finish UT3. He stated he had some IRL issues, and though that is probably the case, he probably was also becoming bored. Now he and Vechs are pretty much gone, Amlup even seems to have left YT.
I still really like making and playing CTMs, but I am slightly discourages due the lack of community members these days. I want to go back to the "old" days, about a year ago. (Yes, I know I am not by far the oldest/most known CTM person.) I don't think the future holds much progress right now. There are about a handfull of CTM maps coming out soonish, contrary to the upcoming maps list in the OP, which was made before the decline of the community. But is this fixable? Vechs seems to have left the community forever and he's more into YT now, so that appears to be out of the question. The other people that left are busy with IRL stuff or other games.

I actually like all of them, but the one that is appealing to me the most is the last one (Quantum Locke), I tend to think that the last area is supposed to be calm and "unreal", though the hardest, (like The End in Super Meat Boy), and this name definitely has that feeling. Although, I don't know what "Locke" means, and neither google nor the dictionary could tell me what it is, so I'll pretend that this is a "Lock".

The "Locke" part is actually a play on words of lock. Googling the concept of "quantum locking" should give you a bit of an idea of what I'm going for with this area. But Locke will also have some significance in the lore of the map, not something I'm going to say at this point.

The main reason of people leaving is that they move on to other things such as other sites, school, work, YT etc. It seems three_two has moved on to OCN (Overcast Network) and pvp. That's not to say he hasn't stopped map making, hopefully not. I know we all would love to see him finish his third installment of VF.
I like to think that I have also moved on to OCN, PvPing and making pvp maps for the network. Although, I hope that some of you who have sticked around here for a long time remember that I still have a second map in dev, and I promise to deliver you the final product and not leave the project to dust. This situation happens to other mappers here, I know it.
It's awesome to see the influx of ctm screenshots coming on, it really brings the community back together and makes us all smile. All the screnshots look good, especially heliceo's. It's cool to see another great map coming very soon. It brings back memories.

I honestly can't see much of that picture... And how is using stained glass not an option? I think it would look great.

It would be a little like the jam but all of the CTM maps would be linked together (they would have to be in certain dimensions of course)
I'm thinking kind of Pantheon cross Adventure Multiplex.

Dream on. As much as I would like that, I think Vechs has left the mapmaking scene. Not saying he's never coming back, but he's gone for now.
