Every bloody CTM map series boasts that it's bigger, longer, and harder than other CTM series. It's almost as if it's a **** measuring contest. (bigger, longer, harder...)
It's been ages since I last posted a WIP progress pic or two for Legend of the Lost Lagoon, so here ya go
Spawn area:
Snipity snip snip
White Wool area:
Looks great as always, but the first screenshot has a bit too much stone. Its still looks amazing but just a little something hope it helped
There ain't much left of the world these days. The gods have forsaken us, there's no denying that. But still you press on. For what? A chance to sift through the ashes one last time? The hope to one day be called a hero? Whatever your reason, you've got a lot of work to do. The corruption won't leave without a fight, so you better get started.
Meh.. you would have to put a head in a chest in Minecraft, then run the player heads filter in MCEdit. Then in Minecraft create the chest that has the head and the rest of the armor for that mob. And back in MCEdit again run the... eh wait, has SethBling even made a filter for creating spawners from armor in chests?
I think you would be better of generating as much as you can in Kamyu's Custom Spawner tool and do a little bit of manual editing.
Sethbling has another filter called "Create Geared Mobs". (Equips mobs with equipment from a chest. Also allows you to set petcentage for the mob to drop each item.) Still, Kamyus and nbt edit are more efficient.
Maybe i am the only one struggling with this, maybe not.
I have a question to all of you about snapshots and mods: How do you think about working in snapshots without mods, or adding snapshot contents later?
It's really hard (at least for me) to work without spc, and add block variation etc.
However, i don't think it works if you add in new content later, instead of designing areas with it.
And SPC/TMI don't work in the snapshots (well, TMI can, but half. SPC doesn't work).
With the new launcher for 1.6 it's very easy to switch between jars.
Also, i just thought of a new, defensive CTM idea. Where you don't travel outwards, but have to build a base while being swarmed by mobs. Every amount of time a new type of mob will join the battle, and every few mobs will be a fleecy mob. So you start in a desert, and then there comes a mob that drops wood, then one for enchanted wooden swords, one for dirt, one with seeds, and then a white wool mob. You have to defend your bed, if it gets blown up and you die it's game over (you may not craft beds). It involves more redstone, and less area making. Any ideas on this?
It seems like a totally different genre. Not ctm (even though you are "completing a monument). The redstone would be a pain in the butt.
As the others have said, it doesn't look very good, but let me explain why. In the first image the color combination consists of grey with yellow-green, which isn't exactly nice. As VittoProductions has said you should probably change the biome to jungle/forest because grey looks better next to vibrant colors. The other reason that image looks bad is that the contrast of the image doesn't vary one bit. It's like the geometry was rendered in full bright mode. You can add more contrast (shadows) by adding things like overhangs, caves and large trees.
EDIT:
Yes I saw that one, but it creates a single mob, not a spawner.
Then you can run his "create spawner" filter over the same selection
I give you another area from my strawberry jam entry, The Forgotten Ruin! (inspiration taken from that picture hybran posted, so whoever made that thanks for the inspirations. )

long answer: Don't have time, don't know how, kinda like it as desert tbh. It gives a very blighted and old feel to the area. Even though its lush, its almost as if even mother nature forgot it. (Plus i made this in like an hour give me a break! ;3; )
Also if you John Smith (recommended texture pack btw) it looks a lot better.
I've encountered this several times now, and I'm stumped as to what I should do...
I have stone walls, and a grass floor. Whats a good block variation for the stone wall? Should I just go for the cobblestone, gravel, stone combo? Or something else?

Okay guys, I'm here to pull a Drago and basically say that my laptop's screwed. I whacked it a bit too hard yesterday (as I do) and now the harddrive is unreadable in places. I haven't lost Disarray entirely, but the rest of my data right now isn't looking promising. So yeah. Someone slap me.
Edit: okay, it seems my Minecraft stuff has been saved
I know I'm SO late, but that kinda sucks. Hope you can get it fixed in time. But one question, WHY did you whack it? Frustration? Anger? If you want to whack something, whack a pillow, or maybe a couch cushion... Laptops are NOT the thing to whack.

Well, to be fair, the damage to my computer was to my processor, not my drive. Meaning my issue was a bit more crippling, assuming your Hard drive was the only thing affected. Still lucky that all your minecraft stuff survived. We should start a support group for maps that have been through technological trauma. XD

I have a question to all of you about snapshots and mods: How do you think about working in snapshots without mods, or adding snapshot contents later?
I plan ahead to use upcoming features, but don't actually update my version until all of my mapmaking mods have been updated again. If I desperately want to try and use a new feature, I'll make a new version of my .minecraft folder with that snapshot/update and screw around with it, then import that work into my map later once I've done the full update.
Question: Is there a mod or anything that makes it easier to put color codes into signs in-game? Switching between Minecraft and McEdit just to change color text plus sometimes not having it work at all, is a bit irritating and is beginning to tick me off.
If anyone knows about this, I'm in need of something like this as well. Also, what MCedit filter are you using right now to make the colored text? Or are you just using the color-changer symbol and pasting it in in MCedit?
I'm sick of people hating on other peoples creations without giving any constructive criticism.
They don't need that. Go away.
Hey! I like, run this... or something:
You can't just say "Go away" to a hybran, it won't work.
Of course. But it wouldn't have been as effective If I hadn't quoted exactly now would it

That looks awesome!! I get to play all this awesome maps after the jam, right?
That's how backdating works...

I actually liked it better before It really felt it made the place feel more abandoned and ruined and the quartz looked much better before

Ragefell is pretty cool. Though if I can pat myself on the back, I'm quite happy with how Skullsmasher came out in DsI. :3
lol "fire fist"
The result is just as cool as those screenies you sent me. Can't wait to see it on the rotation.

I think it looks quite nice. You make me proud. :3
