What now. I'm restless. I need a new map to play while waiting for RC3, Vinyl Fantasy 3, Descent into Darkness 2 and Simulation Protocol 3. I am not really up for another marathon map right now. Any suggestions?
I already am playing The Painter but kind of had enough around the brown wool. A combination of different things did me in and I am not really motivated to take that up again yet. And if I do, I might start over with the final release rather than the beta I am playing. Also restarted RC2 recently but not sure I really want to play that all the way through again so I will leave it to rest for now. Pantheon - started that after the update, but I am not really convinced I will actually have fun playing that. Might be a bit too grindy and difficult. So what to play? I prefer newer maps for 1.7 or 1.8.
Remote District 3 isn't too large, I could also suggest playing some people's minimaps, (don't ever play Kipuka Fields though its very bad) another suggestion would be Now That's What I call CTM or even an older map such as To Greener Pastures

There are a few new maps that have come out such as Archangel Rising, Archangel Rising, and Archangel Rising. Did I mention Archangel Rising?
Infinity: For me, that would be the equal combination of looting, combat, and exploration, combined in that, resource collection. Choosing only one? That would be exploration: to explore and check out exactly what is in store, and how I'm meant to deal with it.
I'm not the best builder, but I'm good at all those other things.
So hey all. I'm planning a stream with Dylan in a few hours.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Hey there all. I stream CTMs as well as other indiegames, RPGs and more. Check me out: www.twitch.tv/aurabolt
Comments: The concept of a cave overrun with spiders seems creative as is, but Orchard really elaborates on the idea in this map. The general mood was reinforced by the healthy amount of webs spread throughout the cave. Although, having completed this map, I might add that this map could have been executed better yet.
One thing to begin with is the aesthetics of the map. I think the cobwebs were put to good use aesthetically, with the towering columns of spider-webs and all. On the other hand, they interfered with gameplay to an extent. Cutting through barriers of cobwebs is a drawn-out process, so, as it was, I ended up tunneling through the sides of the cave. I like the use of huge glowstone veins used throughout the cave; it made for a better torch substitute methinks. Did the map have good aesthetics overall? Yes, it did.
I can’t really decide exactly where to put this map in terms of difficulty, because although it did pose a good challenge, it wasn’t as difficult as it was time-consuming. The difficulty curve jumps along with the spawner level, and of course, the amount of cobwebs, (which were already abundant at the beginning) at the lava lake halfway through the cave. The spawners, which are sparse in the beginning of the cave, surge in number on reaching the lava lake. It’s almost impossible to take the spawn-blobs head on, so most of them are better handled from above. So I’d say this map is more of a spawndemic than a challenge.
As for gameplay, there’s room for improvement in this map. Food was an issue because the only sources of food were the cakes at the beginning (which deplete rather quickly), and rotten flesh from zombies, which depletes fairly quickly as well; making hunger in this game a drawback. Having no consistent food source makes it hard to focus on enjoying a map because of the job of keeping an eye on the hunger bar. I did die once; it was not by taking damage from an empty hunger bar, but instead being finished off by a skeleton while wondering why I wasn’t taking damage from an empty hunger bar. I killed 212 skeletons myself though, so it’s their loss…
This may just be my PC, but I had trading problems with the villagers. I don’t think it was because they were being cranky, but whenever I opened up the trade menu, Minecraft crashed. Unluckily, one of the villagers had the red wool. …I didn’t get the red wool, or most of the bonus objectives, for that matter. Again, it could just be my computer, but because of this I was unable to play the map in its entirety.
In conclusion, all these things may be drawbacks (maybe some specifically for me), but with the time limit taken into account, Spindle Caves is a commendable miniCTM.

P.S. Does anyone have the files for the maps Ruinous Streets and Ruins of Sky and Earth? I checked the download links for both of them and they’re broken.
Yup, still alive. Mostly been up to robotics and other boring IRL stuff (but I did go to freedom land for an international competition, which was ncie ). I saw you had a jam, and if the next is during summer vacation I might just be able to participate (depends on when it is during the vacation).
Hey all. I finally decided to call my map released! I can probably easily keep adding things to it forever but at some point I need to "complete" this thing.
A while back I published a "beta" version and it turned out it was buggy as hell. Very sorry. I fixed nearly everything and added a lot of new features.
So if you enjoy a bit of a zombie apocalypse / hack n slash / CTM / SURV then stop by Srion.

My keyboard broke so I had to type this up using on screen keyboard, which took me approximately 1000000000000000 hours so I'd really appreciate it if you gave it a look!

Anywho, is SI out yet?
SI will come out in bundle with half life 3 and my CTM map that I've ever finished :V
So I decided today that I would, over the next few weeks, put out a few 1 wool "MicroCTMs" (inspired by Xekaj of course) whenever I got the urge to map, this isn't stopping the progress of my map but I thought it would be pretty fun to do so here's my first map, Aqueous Cenote:

Community Question:
As a player, what is your favorite mechanic in linear branching and open world CTMs?
A mechanic could be for example, building, resource collection, combat, exploration, looting, etc.
Infinity: For me, that would be the equal combination of looting, combat, and exploration, combined in that, resource collection. Choosing only one? That would be exploration: to explore and check out exactly what is in store, and how I'm meant to deal with it.

If you are replying to me, that is the full release unless I get in the mood to do more but I would count that as full release.

Great, so now there's a competition in open world city maps?
