What do you think about parkour in the CTM maps? Like it? Not like it? What kind of parkour like more? Traditional parkour or Just RUN parkour? On the map I'm working (called Mystic Crusade) as you know has 6 Wool Zones (3 before the monument and 3 after) In each "pack of areas" will be one that is very focused on parkour (As you may suppose i LOVE Parkour Zones in a CTM map) and I'm starting to make the area easy parkour. I want you to give me advice, suggestions and your opinions. (Logically my favorite area of RC2 is the challenge of the Master Xin) xD
Thanks in advance people!
The thing about parkour in CTM maps is that it has a tendency on being useless since the player could just bridge to the end point or tunnel through walls. The reason the parkour bit in RC2 works is that the map forces the player to reach the end point in a time limit if they want the reward. And to reach that goal, the player have no other choices than to actually do the parkour.
So I guess this is what you want to think of when you want to include parkour aspects in your map. If you just place a bunch of floating blocks on an area mid/end-game, don't try to expect people to actually legitimately go through that course, even though you've place a few signs saying that they shouldn't. You have to force the players to actually jump through all of the blocks and not bridge past them.
Hi, thanks everyone who replied to my question. I will think about it some more.
Meanwhile, another question:
Is the structure recognizable? What do you think it is? Does it look good enough? I didn't use any wood in the build, even though it would look 100% better but I have my reasons.
First time trying to build small detailed environment.
Assuming those are ruins, not sure why the initial builder would randomly mix between bricks and red stained clay, also considering there's no real supply of them anywhere around. And the mushroom blocks.. uh
Try making the building better instead of adding crappy block variation and hiding the low quality of it.
The titular timeframe set by the infamous Draco_Rogue is sometime in late 2039, a risky move that could put it on store shelves the same weekend as Half-Life 3, Dwarf Fortress (for Oculus Rift) and Septum Immoriel.

Looks nice but I going to agree with Kasper about block variation. This clay blocks looks like out of place.
Alright so the thing about collabs is that they don't really work unless everyone is on the same page and theres a specific deadline. Otherwise nothing gets done or things move at a very slow pace (I believe that Fang Can testify to this).
I'd also recommend playing some CTM maps outside of Vechs's Super Hostie series (Simulation Protcol by Tikaro, Savage Realms by Krose, etc.) if you haven't already.
If this is your first map you should probably make it by yourself. It's best to develop your own mapping abilities and style before you start working in conjunction with others. There was a guy like 10 pages back who tried to do the same thing and just ended up quitting his own project and abandoned his team. It's just best if you make solo maps.
Hey all. Nice look, Dylan. Amazing, and I can't wait to explore it.
Also, I am planning on streaming today, for those who are not associated with my Twitter account (Note: link should be below, if you need it). I'm thinking about 2:30 EST.
I don't want to say that I'm working on a map, because there's 90% possibility I'll give up next week. So this is just "mini-project". But IF I ever make one, it will be an open world map one. I have most of the stuff planned, just lack of motivaiton (who would have guessed?)
Are you making a sort of Captive Minecraft mechanic CTM map where, instead of getting acheivements to increase the border you get wools? My next map has a similar mechanic. (I use testforblock command blocks to test and see if the wool is placed on the Monument. If there is something on the monument, you get a little prize or something, and then a teleporter to the next area is accessible)
Greetings y'all! Today after many months of fiddling and balancing and preparing and generally over-worrying I have released my first CTM map! "Now THAT'S what I call CTM!". My, personal, biggest pet peeve with modern CTM maps is the how they've tended more towards "Adventure" over "Survival" in recent years and I hope to rectify that, at least somewhat :). If that sounds interesting to you then feel free to check it out!
This is going to be covered in water eventually but what do you guys think of this?:
I KNOW RIGHT.

So i just want to share this, if you are really looking for inspiration this guy has a lot of it:

Seriously check him out, awesome stuffs.
Sylf you've done it again. Looks beautiful
I would suggest you the same thing as to Sabere, and that is to use the log with bark on all six sides, cause it looks cool.
Command (oak variant): /setblock ~ ~ ~ log 12 (still thinks that it is in new MCEdits) Also you should place some ferns and bushes on the ground.
Assuming those are ruins, not sure why the initial builder would randomly mix between bricks and red stained clay, also considering there's no real supply of them anywhere around. And the mushroom blocks.. uh

Ya that's what I thought aswell.
Oh snap, this is not something I saw coming. :V I look forward to this very much, specially since I thought you were done with CTM map making.
Special thanks to Axl Rosie for the sig.

I will check this at the start of the stream. Hope to see you all there!

So just wanted to show-off something, still working on random buildings, this time I tried to make a convinience store.

Although it's not finished, it looks pretty ok and took me like an hour. The problem is that it takes about one red square.
..so this will take a while. And it's literally only 1/5 or lower of what I had planned.

Hello CTM Community. <3
I can't see a thing in any of those screenshots
Nope. They're essentially pitch-black, especially that last one. I can barely tell what I'm looking at in them.
