Hi everyone! Skeeto currently has control of the admin account
I have updated the OP and added the serious reviews (sorry Hybran and Orchard! :P). I will not be adding Torien's review of RH to the OP, so the other admins can decide whether it should be put up or not. I don't want another Witty/Isaac incident, and will not be managing reviews of my own maps!
@Pie thanks for the banner, I'll add it to the OP now, and another one if you decide to make it!
For now, I need two things from you guys as a community:
1) is the upcoming maps list correct, and is everything present and accounted for? Are there any maps I've missed, any authors I haven't acknowledged? Please let me/us know so we can keep it as up to date as we can. I don't know all of you in the community so there are definitely things I've missed. Just give me a nudge!
2) WHAT MAPS WOULD YOU GUYS LIKE TO SEE REVIEWED? (caps). In case you haven't seen, there is a section on the reviews post entitled "requested reviews". This is currently empty. As you know, Drago and I are good friends, and we also have similar tastes in maps... same goes for Dylan (TheFacetiousFolk). We all need kicks up the backside to remind us of the maps we aren't as familiar with, and every time someone requests a map to be reviewed I will ensure that SOMEONE reviews it. Whether that be one of us or one of you. So, please - let us know what you'd like to see as I really want to ensure we provide!
That's all for now, if you have any more questions I'll be on the account for another hour or so, and then will log off so someone else can do their bit. Thanks for all your support so far guys, and I hope we're doing a good enough job for you!
Made up the banner! Sadly, no Records, but there's a little easter egg in this banner which should be almost impossible to find out since it's hidden so well.
There are 2 tnt blocks but that took shorter than I thought.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Every bloody CTM map series boasts that it's bigger, longer, and harder than other CTM series. It's almost as if it's a **** measuring contest. (bigger, longer, harder...)
Comments: Draco_Rogue's Lands of Desire II epitomizes what we can expect of the "Open-Branching" style of map in the future. This map takes you through several areas (split into "Stages") all of which are unique and awe-inspiring. Aesthetics are definitely the strong-point of this map, and while the gameplay is enjoyable, Draco seems to fall back on custom mobs designed for notable MCforums users a bit too much, but not enough to break immersion. LoDII is a must-play, and you should definitely keep an eye on any new maps Draco will be releasing in the future.
Comments: Rugged Horizons is Skeeto's first entry into the CTM world, and the hard work that was put into it clearly shows. It takes place on a large collection of skylands, each with differing "personalities" and presenting challenges. It's a very short map; normal players can finish it in 2-3 hours, and I've been able to speedrun it in a little over 17 minutes. Despite its length, RH delivers in aesthetics and creativity, while some people may find gameplay to be lacking in a few areas. Skeeto is working on an update which adds 1.5 features, and I highly suggest you check it out when it is released.
Comments: Although the difficulty of this map is high the gameplay allows for the spikes in difficulty as the equipment you have is just enough to finish each area. Like most Vechs maps it lacks slightly on aesthetics but makes up for it in balancing and gameplay. This linear branching map ranges from massive castles to gigantic epic areas that spire hundreds of blocks into the air. With unique traps and innovative gameplay that really breaks uncharted territory in CTM maps Waking up is must play for those that have a few harder CTM maps under their belts
Based on how many reviews there are up already, I'm kind of afraid that this will lose all of the fun derpiness we had on the old CTM Community. Just Infamy being paranoid, that's probably not going to happen.
Comments: Taking place on the post-apocalyptic remains of a once-populated island, From Ashes by Gustavo Entertainment of how Open-World CTM maps should be done. It was inspired by the Fallout and Stalker games, and this fact clearly shows in the design. There is so much to explore in this map, from underground caves to ruined cityscapes, all culminating in one of the longest and toughest dungeons I've ever played through. The loot is another strong point, as there are lots of named items, some humorous and some with an intricate backstory. If you don't take the dungeons in order, or don't look at the map with dungeon markers (provided with the download), you may have some issues with the difficulty curve, but playing the dungeons in order completely fixes this. Once again, this map is a must-play; I suggest it for those with a fair amount of CTM experience, but you don't have to be a veteran to survive.

Don't worry; the thread has only been up for a couple days, and we're just excited about trying out the reviews system and such. There's nothing stopping normal conversation from happening.
What happens when a map is updated? Personally, I think all current reviews of that said map should be trashed. As an example, Sunburn Islands is different enough from the previous that the ratings would change.
On a side note, great job to everyone on posting reviews!

Just chucking the review seems a bit illogical to me. If there are major changes to the map (SI3.0 to SI3.1, or beta to full release), then we'll put a little note next to the review link on the OP mentioning that it's outdated. If the map only underwent minor changes, I think the reviews should stay linked.
Comments: This map by Gustavo Entertainment, much like its predecessor From Ashes, is an Open-World Dungeoneering post-apocalyptic map, with this one set mainly in a sprawling nighttime city of mobs. Players will be quick to notice the "Sea of Flame" lookalike of it, but the gameplay is a whole another level above it. Detail to the buildings and the terrain is very fine and creates a fully immersive city experience. The dungeons are no joke, either - some of the mobs can get downright brutal and on your tail. The map is very free to let you explore and let your eyes catch all of the looty details of it, but danger awaits around every corner. The map takes advantage of many, many features including zooming lookouts and well-done Fleecy Mobs. It's nearly perfect and it should be what all Open-World mapmakers should strive for in terms of gameplay and detail.
Just put up a new Dreadsky Depths teaser image, along with an accompanying hangman puzzle for the area name, in my thread. If you guys wanna participate, just go here and post your letter guess.
Considering dropping Victoris Insulis... *sigh*... this always happens. (Although, I might make a different map, that has both Victoris and Insulis in its name)
Comments: Map made by Vechs. The premise of this map is that you are stuck on a cloud and you need to collect sixteen colours of wool in order to build a parachute to drop safely to the ground below. Some of the clouds have trees and gravel on them. Others are filled with void fog and nasty creatures. One leads to another dimension where you have to skip across gravel to reach one of the parachute wools. And then you encounter a fleet of wooden wasps which shoot stings at you. Vechs included a flying pig for teh lols, but he wouldn't let me fly him to the ground. So I was left to complete the parachute After watching Amlup finish the map in a livestream, it became apparent that the wools were not going to be used for a parachute after all, so it was all a waste of time.
Comments: Everything the original should have been: Hard, rage-inducing, and spewing diamonds in your face so you can die with them.
Taken from the Zero Mercy thread.
This map is all those void areas that you hated, except brutified to an extreme level. This map will make you fall into the void and swear. This map will make you think you can bridge but you can't. This map will make you angry. This map will destroy you.
All that aside, it looks great and stays true to Zero Mercy fashion. You'll probably ragequit before passing stage 2, though. The gameplay is mainly for those who love the void-tension action and to collect vital loot.
