This kinda fits into the topic of map making, because I'm using the information for building my maps, there really isn't a forum category for Minecraft mechanics, or did I miss it?
Anyway, I'm wondering is anyone knows the code that the various potions run through.
Specifically I'm looking at Strength and Weakness right now. Level 1 of strength adds 3 points of damage (1 1/2 hearts) and each level there after doubles that value. Same thing for Weakness but it is in 2 point increments.
I'm combining different levels of strength and weakness to get different levels of bonuses and not bonuses (negatives? Isn't there a different word for that too?)
But I'm also curious what is applied first and how the values are calculated by the game. In game testing can only tell you so much.

The crossed out sections are the combinations I'd never use for certain.
I'm also very interested how the Speed and Slow potions are calculated together. I need to run more tests to see if the order on the potion effects the order of the calculations. Currently it seems like if the Speed level and the Slow lever are the same then only the slow takes effect.
