Hi, and thanks for taking the trouble to help me out. This isn't a map I am advertising, but I was wondering if someone could give me advice about what I am building inside a map.
I am trying to make a Kit mechanism for a map, so that when a certain number of gold nuggets are placed in a chest, the chest will be
replaced with the kit. I have basic knowledge of most commands, but this fancy stuff tends to trip me up. All I need is a basic structure for
this command, and that should be enough for me to adapt it to all the places in Kit lobby.
It doesn't come up with the problems I am used to. The output is: Failed to execute 'detect' as Drengodr (my username). I am in version 1.12.2 BTW.
Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank you!

Hey guys, I wrote a Minecraft book called The Griefer Attack! Check it out!
Note that <data value> is not the same thing as a data tag which means you can sadly not check for the content inside of the chest using a single /execute

This was harder than I thought, I've come up with a functioning but perhaps not ideal solution.
It will work as long as you don't have a lot of players standing on top of chests at the same time. https://streamable.com/2osiy

That worked! Do you know of a way to adapt it so that different kits could cost the same amount? And since these kits are going to be a bit complicated, which command block should I change to clone a different chest into the same place?

Here is the base command I have been trying:
/execute @e[type=player] ~ ~ ~ detect ~ ~-1 ~ minecraft:chest 0 replace {Items: [{id:"gold_nugget",Slot: 0,Count: 25}]} clone ~ ~1 ~ ~ ~1 ~ ~ ~ ~1
It doesn't come up with the problems I am used to. The output is: Failed to execute 'detect' as Drengodr (my username). I am in version 1.12.2 BTW.

I'd really appreciate the support if you read it and enjoyed it!
The syntax for the /execute command goes like this:
Note that <data value> is not the same thing as a data tag which means you can sadly not check for the content inside of the chest using a single /execute
Thank you.
Is there a way to use more than one command for this? I think it would be a really cool effect for my map.

A is a repeating command block with the command
B is a chain command block with the command
C is a conditional chain command block with the command
D is a chain command block with the command

Perhaps you could decide what type of kit you want by checking what block the chest is standing on.
Yes you could definitely change the /blockdata command to a clone one.
I am not at my computer right now so I can not create a demo but i will when i get home.
Got it working
