THE ALBATROSS
Survival-Horror Adventure, Vanilla in Survival game mode, “Construct” game type.
You are a crew member of a freighter spacecraft, “The Albatross”, but something went wrong. Your ship has crashed on a frozen planet and you’re lucky to be alive. Diagnostics show extensive damage to the hull and several vital components have torn away from the ship. You’ll need to collect materials, recover missing components, and repair the damage. Unfortunately, you don’t have much time. The fission reactors have become unstable and the containment shields are failing!
Features
Repairing equipment activates special features of the ship, including teleporters, ship shields, and the experimental Gene Splicer that combines your DNA with alien embryos.
Expansive terrain to explore.
Puzzling challenges to recover lost pieces of the ship. You’ll need a strong knowledge of Minecraft. Be ready for creative solutions!
Strange phenomena peculiar to the planet, such as tremors and gravitational anomalies.
Recommended Settings
Vanilla Minecraft version 1.10.2 (too many changes to Commands to update to 1.11+)
Survival Mode on Normal Difficulty
1-6 players. “server.properties” file can be found in save folder.
Server Properties with “allow-nether=false” (or just don’t go to the Nether… it’s not intended to be part of the experience. Nor is The End, so the stronghold portals have been dismantled.)
Server Properties with "enable-command-block=true" (lots of command blocks in this map!)
Server Properties with “player-idle-timeout=6”. Since there is a time element, you don’t want idle players. Just a suggestion.
Gamerules
Just so you aren’t too surprised when things are working weird, these are the built-in gamerules used in this map:
doDaylightCycle is false (the planet is tidally locked)
naturalRegeneration is false (you’ll have to find other ways to heal)
keepInventory is true (the Albatross rescues your stuff)
mobGriefing is false (necessary because Endermen could make final repairs practically impossible)
If you already downloaded V05, you'll have to change your gamemode to survival yourself. I'll be uploading a change to the default gamemode later today. Sorry for the inconvenience. I've switched gamemode so many times while testing it, I forgot that it started as a Creative map.
"Construct" means the main objective is construction. To complete the map, you build or rebuild a structure. The testforblocks command can be used to validate the results against a complete model and announce success when they match.
In the Albatross map, the structure is a spacecraft. Some parts are just scattered and they reassemble when you find them while other parts have "bad" blocks that need to be replaced with "good" blocks. With the hull, the bad blocks are cobblestone and you need them to be replaced with iron blocks. The materials can be found through normal mining and through special events the players might encounter. There's a bonus that when you complete certain parts of the ship, new features are unlocked.
I considered putting this in the CTM category, because in a way it's just a big monument to complete, but the spirit of the objective is different. CTM's have you collect a very specific block and put it on a pedestal or in a slot. Constructs should include more complex structures that you are creating or fixing. CTM's are like filling a cabinet with trophies where Constructs are like making a cabinet to put trophies in.

Definitely not a CTM.
Survival I would say. There are some 'adventure' (story) elements, but not one that leads you from task to task.
Thanks for the feedback! I don't expect this kind of map to appeal to everyone. Repairing the ship is the central gameplay mechanic so if that didn't interest you, I'm glad you didn't spend more than an hour checking it out. If you did manage to get past that part that annoyed you, you would have been given a lot more intel, but I admit that is a nasty hurdle. I suspect I lose half of the players right there.
hey so i want to make a Construct style map and would love if you could either teach me how or give me the link to a guide, i loved your map but its hard to learn with an already done map, im trying my best, replaying, checking commands executed and others but i just cant learn it, pls help me learn

The Albatross - Survival Horror on a frozen planet
I'll try it.
Sounds very interesting, might give it a try

Checked out V06.
Overall, I get what you're going for, but after playing about an hour I lost interest.
Admittedly, I did not repair any parts of the ship, as I wanted to explore the land first.
The airlock particle animation was really cool.
I'm not entirely sure how the first sequence connects with the actual gameplay.
Books are way too long.
The re-printing of manual was a cool idea.
Multicolor teleporting mechanic is interesting, but not useful in single player.
The volcano caught my eye, but doesn't seem to be anything there.
The thing where you get frozen in a block of packed ice if you go within 24 block is super super annoying.
Found 4 jackolanterns near one corner of the map, broke the obsidian for... a single iron block :/
Walked toward a cave and there was a startling cave-in, but then I dug it out and I didn't find anything else?
Lots of seeds and flowers near the worldborder - could see some trees beyond it that weren't replaced by packed ice.
Wandering off seems pretty useless.
I saw a lot of iron ore in back of the ship, but guessing it's not quite enough to fix everything.
Kinda got bored at this point.
Definitely not a CTM.
