I have started working on my next map which I am currently calling "Song of the Siren"
It will take place in the Exodus Universe but other than a few small nods to the Exodus maps it will stand on its own as a terrifying epic set in the 2050's.
There will be pirates, monsters, spies, and a whole lot of water.
This map will be somewhere around an hour to 2 hours of gameplay.
Yesterday there was a huge boost in downloads! Not sure what caused this but the map was downloaded more than 1100 times in just a few hours! I'm glad that this is the case, but I also can't figure out the reason why there was this sudden boost. Hmm

Any idea when we might see open beta? or if you might take applications for like, closed alpha or something? I'm already super hyped to see this map >_>

At this point I can't really say. It'll be a few months at the very least. I will also be moving and graduating during that time so we'll see how much that upends my life. But I'd say it will likely be sometime in the summer.
Yo r3d, was looking through stuff on forums and ended up on the season 1 thread. The OP on that still says season 3 is in development, just wanted to give you a heads up in case you wanted to update it.
Just played and finished Exodus Season 3 and got Ending 1.
Do not read the spoilers if you haven't played:
I noticed it said that Ending 1 is the only ending where you survive, and I've also noticed on the poll that the majority of people seem to get it.
While, admittedly, I think I enjoyed Season 2 more, I liked Season 3's very dark, dystopian atmosphere, pollution, plot twists, and story, and I was also satisfied by my ending. The CutscenePRO usage was very good, especially how it made all the civillians move about, going about their business.
btw are the bobbleheads a Fallout reference? (Also, you know how it said "How many bobbleheads did you get?" at the end? I couldn't check because it had cleared my inventory! I think it was about 9...)
I was with Phoenix for pretty much the whole map because I did not like how R3D had imprisoned me (the producer) or committed xenocide (i.e. killed all of the other Dendron on the mothership by self-destructing it in Season 2), as well as the fact that he was still trying to get what seemed like a stupid TV show out despite the state of the world around him, while Phoenix promised they'd get the government off their butts to actually do something about the pollution crisis. But it was when Sarah Harding accidentally revealed that she planned to make everyone explode into fire before sending me off to open up the vault with the Lost Children in it, that made me begin to have my doubts about everything Phoenix-related, and at the climax at the end of Episode 4 I sided with R3D.
My criticisms: Firstly, that while people are speaking you don't see what they say in the chat (just hear their voices), and that was a huge problem because sometimes their sound files were naturally too quiet for me to hear (Even on maximum volume), and other times I missed a part because of background noises in real life (you can't exactly rewind and play the dialogue again).
This was most problematic when I went to the president's mansion, snuck past the guards, and discovered she was already dead, then wound up talking to Hollis and R3D, as loud noises were in the background then (and their speech was particularly quiet), I completely missed practically all of what they said.
Perhaps add a subtitles option at the start?
Secondly, the excessive use of particle effects at some bits (like the Lost Children and Phoenix boss fight at the end) and at the theater where there were a couple hundred people wearing custom player heads, made the game nearly unplayable (and it crashed a couple of times) but I pulled through
Some other minor problems I can think of is mainly when you go to the Lost Children vault and have to find eight redstone torches to reactivate the elevator, I probably hunted through about 3/4 of the facility (the Lost Children made it difficult, and the lag didn't help either), opening every chest I saw (and even checking the hopper-toilets) but I couldn't find a single torch (not even one!!), so, admittedly, I cheated and gave myself some in creative (I can only take so many Lost Children). Also the Ivaren Hallucination boss fight, with the seemingly endless waves of Dendron Hallucinations, got really repetitive by the time I got to the mothership. I probably went through a whole set of iron armor and all my shields had broken by the end!
But overall, I'd recommend this map to anyone who would like a good dystopia map with multiple choices and endings.
The torches (fuese) are not in chests but in some rollable boxes (or something like that), made of dispensers.
I personnally looked for them in gamemode 3. It may be cheating but when you are hunted by children, with some lag, you dont really want to keep going on the path.
My suggestion: Reduce the number of children.

When you post a mod: "No pics no clicks" and "MCreator = bad ~99% of the time"

My own suggestion (to R3D):
Make it obvious that the rollable boxes are re-modelled dispensers that have an inventory that can be accessed (I had no idea they were storage items, unless I somehow missed a voice-acting line saying that because it was too quiet. I just thought the rollable boxes were decorations like the computer models.)
Are you sure this isn't still in Beta? The plot seems iffy, the map needs touching and a lot of the zones that track where you go are not placed in good positions.
I was this close to telling Sarah to die but my buddy said we should try to help her, lucky for me. She died with the phoenix again (also the hitboxes in the phoenix fight are horrible)

Hello! I am jacklego5, i have played since the alpha days and i am a Veteran at minecraft ( I'm pretty good )
If i am helpful, why not give me a thanks? THANKS! <--- Get it?
I have a bug when I try to select the chooser role and then press the continue button it just displays the text "If you are a chooser you may click me to proceed. This is how you will make decisions throughout the map." and I cannot proceed to play the map.
Feel free to make an animation of this, however I will not be providing a script for it. I don't have the time to do so at the moment, But you can look at the audio files in the resource pack if you want to hear the individual lines and such. If you do make an animation be sure to credit me for the map, and to let me know. I'd love to see it! Thanks for playing!

I will fix that soon. The forums page for Season 1 has been a bit glitchy for me lately.

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed! The problem with subtitles is that they would have added a minimum of 2000 command blocks to the map. Also it would have detracted from the overall experience in a way. Yes there are some audio issues but overall I balanced them as best I could. I will probably go through again in the near future to update some of the files. As for the particles on children and Phoenix, I'm surprised those lagged. I play on a older laptop that is by far not amazing and I didn't have issues as did many of the testers. Now the theater is laggy for some reason. There was no problem loading the theater in prior to updating the map to 1.11.2 but now there is and I'm trying my best to nail down what is causing the lag. The theater will not crash minecraft if you allow it to load for a moment. It will look like it is crashing but it won't. The torches were in the small generators as described in a book that you find in the vault. Anyways thanks for playing and your suggestions on improvements!

There is not that many of them. And I'm surprised they were causing lag. They were optimized to not do so.

This map was in beta for nearly a month. Seems to me you didn't understand the plot of the map. (There is alot going on and not all of it is obvious at first glance. For instance characters will tell you things but that doesn't mean they are telling the truth. The truth is revealed as your actions influence the story. I'm not sure what you mean by zones being tracked? Could you elaborate on this point? As for the Phoenix the hit boxes are within the green particles that move around.
I have a bug when I try to select the chooser role and then press the continue button it just displays the text "If you are a chooser you may click me to proceed. This is how you will make decisions throughout the map." and I cannot proceed to play the map.
You need to press that line of text. That's what it says. "Click the chat"
This should fix your issue.
Clicking the chat is how you will make decisions.
