Brizol, I enjoy watching your video's, so please keep them coming! I still love this map. I restarted last week and got a nice mix of villagers that I want to keep around and go far with. The random bedrock irks me as well, but I have an idea to work around them. place cobblestone slabs at the top section of them, and then place what ever fancy slabs on top of those. I haven't tested, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
yeah great job Brizol it's amazing all that you've accomplished on this map! All you're really missing as far as systems now is beacons and automation which you'll have soon it sounds like!!! You could also farm the skeleton spawner in the nether for a renewable source of coal and wither heads. It makes it easy to get beacons.
I'm interested to see your game TeeHee! Post some pics if you stick with your current start, I love to see how players handle the map in the beginning. I still am likely to die a few times in the beginning the mob hordes are so intense days 1-10.
Sorry to break it to you Brizol but the terrain preset I created for the wasteland goes on forever. The terrain will never become normal at any point except where you terraform it. It would have been cool to have isolated mountains and things and build more out there but I haven't done it in this version and it's hard to code a preset that acts like that. There is some stuff you haven't reached out there though. Eventually you will find plants and green patches. Grass, some animals, trees, and flowers can spawn out there if you go far enough in isolated pockets and around riverbeds. There's also a stronghold. I'm confused why you haven't reached this stuff yet though. Did you ever turn off the world expansion at some point? By Day 80 you definitely should have expanded out the the stronghold.
On the plus side, though it doesn't look like it, the wasteland actually is home to most of the supplies you may have been missing it just takes a little digging to find them.
Davy Crockett's journal suggested you go digging under the ash in the wasteland to find ores and other supplies. Every kind except emeralds has a chance to spawn under the sand including diamonds and lapis in small 1-3 block veins. It's not the most thrilling job but it makes diamond pretty renewable and you can find iron as well. I found using TNT to blast off the sand surface to be a pretty funny and effective way of searching. You can also find the 3 stone variants in large veins. Also investigate under the non-snowed sandy areas. They are dried river beds and you'll find tons of dirt under them for your projects. It's a lot faster then using Geoffrey and could speed along your terraforming projects.
I love watching your videos, I hope you keep making them! You're making me want to restart this map now lol

To start with, my 4 villagers are (think I got these right for amounts):
1 Clerk with 36 rotten flesh and 10 gold
1 Clerk with 37 rotten flesh and 8 gold
1 Butcher that takes chicken and pig
1 Farmer that takes food items and IF I get into a bind, will give me 2 bread for an emerald. Thank goodness I have been getting apples.
So, I started the project of laying down cobble slabs ( saves coal and 1 stack of cobble gives you 2 stacks of slabs ) on the top half of the bedrock and my stonebrick slabs on top of those so that less and less things will spawn. I didn't want to have to light up the ground underneath so that spiders didn't spawn when I didn't want them to. I haven't had any deaths... but I did get a really close call earlier!! I heard the sizzle and jumped off my dirt pillar and ran as fast as my block legs would allow. Lucky I was quick enough that they didn't explode and by the time I came back, cause the sun was setting, they were far enough away so that I could hang out with the villagers again lol.
that's shaping up nicely Teehee! Day 10+ you start getting new supplies like the grass block if I recall and the worldborder accelerates a little to give you more space. Excited to see how your survival progresses! My favorite starting villagers are: cleric, librarian, blacksmith, farmer. My reasoning is it gives you something to sell to each one to start stocking emeralds: paper, rotten flesh, coal, and all crops. And they can sell back rare stuff that is useful to you early like: enchanted gear (blacksmiths), enchanted books, glass, or bookshelves (librarian), lapis and redstone (cleric), extra food (farmer) but farmer is mainly useful to get loads of emeralds for the other guys via farming. Don't forget that gravel can be combined with dirt to make coarse dirt and hoed to make more normal dirt. It'll help you stretch your early dirt supplies farther.
@Brizol:
Ok that makes sense then. If you never turn off the worldborder you reach the wasteland terrain around Day 50 and the stronghold by 75-80 if I recall. I timed the game to be possible to finish the challenge list after around 80 days of survival but most players that stick it out play far longer because they grow fond of the feel and the world. It is quite possible to afk for a few hours to give yourself more space quicker but personally I never ran out of things to do so on my playtests I usually just ended up on project after project and suddenly realized later I had a lot more area to explore.
Yes mobs, in general, can't spawn on pure glass. What they can spawn on is a class of blocks called "opaque" or "solid" blocks, with the exception of bedrock which they also can't spawn on. However this is only the initial choice of spawn center. When mobs actually spawn what happens is it picks a center on an opaque block then tries to spawn a "group" around this center. If there isn't enough space it usually just spawns the one mob but if there is a lot it'll spawn up to 4 in a group. this means a single cobblestone surrounded by a field of glass could get a group of 4 spawning on the glass around the cobble block. So technically they CAN spawn on glass but only if there is a solid block on the same level to start the spawning group algorithm. A pure glass plane can never spawn anything.
Other blocks they can't spawn on: not-full blocks like carpet, snow layers, string, fence, lower slabs, leaves, etc... A good rule of thumb when designing is if you can see through any part of the full block outline mobs can't spawn on top of it, however, there is an exception for upper slabs--mobs will spawn on those. Again, keep in mind they can still group-spawn if there is a nearby solid block to start from. The same is true of zombie sieges on hard where zombies summon more of themselves if hit or to attack villages. These summons can occur on usually unavailable spawning areas if they are near the summoning zombie.
It's complicated but I hope this helps in your designs for the future.

So I got distracted and never got around to actually playing 2.0. I then saw willy4win's post, and I literally got it on my second try (I messed up the first try because i was trying to see if I could get down to the command blocks and see what you did but I wasn't fast enough). Here is a screenshot, and it's obviously mine because everything is different (except for the trade, it's exactly the same XD) including the villager's name: http://prnt.sc/avnb73
my command blocks immediately setup the game and delete themselves if they find a player in survival. You have to log in in creative to take a look but it's pretty simple. Just creates 4 random villagers and a few other scorekeeping things.
Only the top module firing once daily is needed for keeping up with the game afterward. Nice find on mending, I thought it was super rare but twp people have seen it in their first villagers.

looks great Brizol! I love seeing the green! the glass was to prevent slime spawns? Light should do the rest. If you recess the paths they should be too small for big slimes to spawn but even little ones might be annoying...dunno. I love green though, I plan to terraform some forest and nice terrain around my base in my next playthrough.
thanks Uber! If you give it a try let us know how your play goes!

Hey guys! I have received notice that this forum will soon be archived and read only! The download and project location will still be active over on curseforge. Feel free to message me there if you want to get ahold of us:https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/final-battleground
I may eventually update this map and expand upon it in the newer minecraft versions so after I finish Space Expedition I may be returning. I will also be looking for a new location to post updates and keep up with players interested in my projects. Message me if you are interested in keeping in touch after the forum closure.
