Just finished the map (barely) and I do have a few things I want to mention about it.
Don't click the spoiler if you haven't played the map yet.
There were many times in the map where I wanted to ragequit because I found the areas highly unbalanced and, in some cases, frustrating. If someone is meant to go through a portal then they shouldn't end up being instantly knocked into the void once they reach the other side. Light Grey and Blue wools are the best example of this since in both of them, as soon as I entered the End and Nether respectfully I was instantly knocked into the void both times.
Also, throughout the whole map, I found no netherwart (maybe I'm just an idiot and didn't look hard enough)so the only potions I could use were the ones provided, which was annoying during the blue wool since I was going against a metric butt-ton of blazes and ghasts while going upward and surrounded by fire with no fire resist at all.
Also, the Lime and Yellow wools are mixed up. Not sure if that was accidental or intended. ^^;
Aside from those setbacks the map was well made for your first and, though I wanted to stop playing at certain points from frustration, I didn't give up on it.
I think you have the potential to become an awesome map maker one day for sure~
Edit: Oh yeah, one more thing, I liked the lore behind the areas :3
Dude, if I could, I'd use all 10 of my comments for this map - it was awesome - hard - difficulty - awful - fun - and downright sweet. That last part though - good grief !!! Thanks for the adventure and I hope you do more.
Thank you for playing! And thanks for the feedback!

I agree there are many points of rage-quit potential, and I think I dug myself into that point fairly early on by giving the player so many resources that the only way to make things particularly difficult was the application of void and awkward situations.
I don't plan to use any portals in future maps as I now understand why no one else does They are finicky and unnecessary in most scenarios.
There is Netherwart on the second level of the Catacombs Where the chamber splits and one direction progresses, the other leads to a chest full of the stuff
Congrats for actually beating it without the crafting of potions, I built a lot of later areas assuming the player had that capability xD
You certain the lime and yellow are mixed?
Thanks again and I hope you stick around for my next in progress: Winterspell.
One hopes it will be an improvement, and I'm certainly taking everyone's comments on board in its making

I've defeated the first two dungeons, and I have to say I'm feeling really optimistic about this map. It's clear you're more focused on game-play than looks, like a lot of map makers are these days. That's not to say Shattered Realm looks bad; So far the map looks good because it's not cluttered with busy textures in pointlessly large areas like a lot of modern maps I could name. And while there could have been a few more honey pots in the first two dungeons, all in all I feel the areas were balanced, challenging and most of all, fun! Can't wait to see what else this game has in store for me.
And no, I'm not interested in any Mexican food at the moment. But I think I know of a certain evil genius who is.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
Thanks, hope you're getting through it alright!
My next map, Winterspell, is about half way through creation. I think my style is set very much in the humble, subtle level design, rather than grandiose aesthetic. Winterspell adopts this further by having no names/story whatsoever, and using environmental effects to leave it upto the player's interpretation- and also for immersion purposes. It also revolves much more around fewer and rarer resources, but fewer and more definitively placed enemies. In a hopes of re-animating the old pre-hunger minecraft feeling. You'll feel poorer, and will be required to think things through more, but you'll feel so much more accomplished when you defeat an area.

College has taken over, and I'm in a relationship, and my life is busy, and Dark Souls 3 and No Man's Sky and ARRGHHHHH
10 out of 16 areas are complete. But it's been like that since last Christmas. I may finish it eventually, the trouble is that Minecraft has changed dramatically due to updates, and will continue to do so.
The longer I leave it the less incentive I have to finish it. If I were to finish it I would need to completely revamp most areas.
It's all good. Been waiting since like 2013 for Vechs to release a new map so this news doesn't phase me. Just focus on you, man. Not like you're obligated to map. Take care!

Okay, I'm back! In an effort to procrastinate out of A-level exams, Winterspell is underway once more, and I am re-immersing myself in Minecraft in order to balance it for the most recent updates.
Bring out the polar bears!
In looking for inspiration for Winterspell I wound up playing Vechs' Sunburn Islands, and managed to finish it without dying, not that it's a difficult map, but thought I'd share:
I actually didn't finish Sunburn Islands. Chickened out at the witch castle at the end. :v

For anybody interested, I overcame the fear of many new updates with the simple approach of making the areas of Winterspell in 1.8, as was A Shattered Realm, but planning to place the loot and enemies (all the things that need to be balanced) in the latest update. On that note, I am three areas away from having the entire map constructed. Then all that's necessary is the chests and spawners.
I haven't been this hyped since a turtle crossed the road.

No current ETA, but I'm hard at work
So, any update on Winterspell? :33

Sorry for the disappointing news.

August, at the latest.

For anyone who happens to be here after six years, I finished Winterspell - https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/maps/3124086-winterspell-new-winter-themed-ctm-map-for-1-8-9
