Hello R3D Just posting to see if I can get my head in season 3 also My head is at the end of the map guess who I am Invisible dog (i just relized My usernames right there) lol
That's great! I'll make another attempt to play it later. Hopefully be able to escape lag and be able to finish it this time
I actually just literally updated the map a second time just now. This new update fixes a few more things (Although most are smaller bugs that most people probably wouldn't even notice)
VERSION 1.1.1
=====================================
Spelling mistake in Welcome Message Book
Spawnpoint not set after starting cutscene
Multiplayer bug with voice-acting? Sometimes sound robotic (Have no idea why this is happening)
Fix multiplayer bug that can cause glitches with scoreboard. (Easy fix)
Fix oxygen warning system to only play for players with 25% oxygen.
Fix Benny Options not disappearing fast enough.
Fix Npc's who are not spawning in the training simulation room. (Not sure why they aren't spawning. Gonna move them to be activated by a different set of redstone.
Increase time before Title for Episode 1 is revealed.
Sync voice-acting a little bit better.
Fix spelling mistake during final credit sequence.
Try to figure out why Ivaren's initial cutscene isn't working for some people. (I think it has to do with player render distance)
Spawnpoint during canyons is randomly being set back to just after escaping the caves. (This is odd and there is no reason this should happen.)
Chapter 4-6 mistake on last page.
Add a rule /settings book in starting lobby.
Improve mansion
Fix Ivaren's first cutscene so that players can't take control of Ivaren's view
Added Air pocket
Added escape ladder in Crashed engine
Added more torches
Made parkour in caves easier to see
Added Fuse note
Changed titles from dark_red to aqua
added time delay for episode 1 title to appear
Added some aesthetics
Stopped players from being able to activate the launch sequence before talking to R3D
So I went through the map again and found perhaps the biggest most gargantuan bug in the map. It's so big that it could so easily break the map and make the ending unplayable. I'm surprised no one reported it as it could have been easily triggered and completely ruins the story. Wow.
But it's fixed now in the most recent update that I just did now.
(Basically the bug was in the tank scene and you could make a choice even before Ivaren tells you to make a choice)

I actually did post something about the ending not working earlier (it was on page 2 of the comments), but you didn't see it because you apparently didn't even click the spoiler (or likely even see the post for that matter)

Well, I got to the end. Let me just say, this was WAAAAY darker than season 1 (But SOOOO much better at the same time).
My Choices:
At the moral choice, I tried to kill myself first, but then killed the captain when I wasn't allowed to do that.
Later, when the host R3D betrayed everyone, I smashed the weapon, then let him hit the self-destruct button. (also, small side note, the ending seems glitched, as Benny said something in chat (It was just 1 line, and I can tell it was his first one for that scene from the redstone), I was put into spectator mode and teleported to face him (and R3D for that matter), then I was put in adventure mode, but at that point, the text just stopped for some reason, and I had to go into the command blocks and mess around a bit to get the storyline to work properly.
At the very end of it, after I got the ending to work, I probed around the command blocks to read what would have went down had I killed Benny or gone along with R3D's plan.
Overall, I would say this was a lot better than Season 1, but that may be because I prefer story over mowing down hundreds of mobs.
PS: my ign is mariofanatic123 if you want to add me for Season 3.

No, I did see and read your comment. However that wasn't the big bug I found today. The bug I found was at the end of episode 3 where players could press one of the buttons in the tank and prematurely kill one of the people before it was supposed to be an option. I also fixed the bug you encountered at the end of episode 4 in the first update I did today. (I Hope)
Please don't feel like I don't read the comments. I read them all and make note of everything people liked, or didn't like, and any bugs that are found so I can fix them. Thanks for playing!

In short, Exodus Season II: An Interruption in Space is a disappointing masterpiece.
Review
Exodus Season I: Zombie Apocalypse is a remarkable map in 2014. With no expectations on a Minecraft map, I am instantly amazed by the progressive battles that are well-designed, creative and fun. The epic scenes are still wandering around in my head every time I hear the word 'exodus'.
That's why I am really in ecstasy when I found out that Season 2 was released. The first impression of Exodus Season II: An Interruption In Space is... impressive! The custom-made 80Mb resource pack, the immersive background music, and an surprisingly-eloquent prologue. During the game, I can't wait to play through the expected, fantastic story line and then leave a very positive review in Minecraft Forum after those epic battles.
The first and second chapter are astounding. In fact, the experiences don't seem to belong to Minecraft at all! I felt like playing a delicate and exquisite indie horror game instead of Minecraft multiplayer. The horrific atmosphere was well-constructed by the creepy singing voices and the twinkling lamps in chapter 2 particularly. It was definitely more scary than the so-called "scariest" maps, which just made use of some pixelated woman face in resource pack and teleport you somewhere to jumpscare you. But in this map, I saw some differences. The terror was created by the ambience, not a sudden scream or a sudden face in front of you. In short, first two chapters simply deserve the highest tributes. It is just perfect except some strange bugs and out-sync dialogues and voice acting, but I believe they were already fixed in the new version.
The perfection wasn't kept when it came to Chapter 3. I was not surprised by R3D's betrayal instead found the extreme boredom in the dialogues. Every character in this game is so talkative that a cutscene usually took minutes to finish. If the dialogues did help the progression of the plot, I am fine with that. But instead the dialogues are mostly meaningless and pointless. For example, Lord Ivaran was trying to show his innocence by repeating "I do this for my human, my race" "We could have been friends each other" "I don't really want to execute you" and the next moment he was telling me to make a decision of killing Captain or Benny in the beginning of Chapter 4. We had occurred bugs in that scene by accidentally pressing the buttons on gold blocks, and great three Lords were talking at the same time. That's not the map's fault but ours, therefore we silently wait in that water-box thing and tried to identify the dialogues by reading the subtitles.
It was like 5 minutes passed. The Lords were still talking all the repetitive confessions, and don't seem he wanted to stop. And suddenly one of the Lords stopped talking, Captain said goodbye to us, and Captain died, Lord left, R3D appeared, being sentimental. I don't know if the sadness was real or not, but either cases it seems strange: If R3D was sad of Captain's death, why would him gave out the lives of contestants easily? Or they fell in love, but that's even worse since R3D's personality wouldn't had him doing this. The latter one will be even more confusing, I can't see why R3D was totally merciless about others but Captain. If he was going to show us his empathy, why not show us earlier?
And we walked on the path towards Lord's ship, and the Lord's voices are still continuing. He had at least spent 15 minutes on all the dialogues. Which means if we didn't trigger the bug, we had to wait there for 15 minutes standing still and listen to Lord's non-sense theories doing nothing! The originally fast-paced game suddenly started to progress tremendously slow.
The last half hour is ridiculous. Lord told us he was going to leave this planet, and next moment he told us to confront him in XXX place. Just as expected, the confrontation was simply another long and tedious speech by Lord. I was like, what the f-? Couldn't he just leave and keep the door closed to the produces so he could successfully execute his extermination. Map makers may have wanted to make the speeches as deep as dark as possible, but what turns out is I and my friend minimize the Minecraft window and started browsing Facebook or Tumblr. We quickly scanned the previous dialogues when he ended his speech for trying to something meaningful, and again just as our expectations, the dialogues were just some thing that Lord had told us chapters ago.
Now it's the boss battle! We were still with hope to find the battle epic just as the previous season, and once we were again disappointed. The final boss battle was silly and we defeated the Lord within 2 minutes. The arena battle was much better. Now we walked along the road, and saw Benny. Something predictable happened: R3D appeared and killed Benny. Cool, and we thought that oh R3D is actually the real final boss. Disappointment. R3D had another long and tedious speech, and told us to decide Earth and planet's fates. We chose to destroy and kill us both. R3D wasn't surprised but had another ambiguous speech. And then, should-be-dead R3D teleported should-be-dead us to a white box. And R3D started to explain his ambitions. I'm afraid that seldom people really wanted to care as my friends were already disconnecting from the game. The epilogue trip was amazing with the music setting off - but the atmosphere between I and my friends is simply dead-air. Maybe it's too tired to listen to the speeches or simply the time was late, we closed Minecraft before the trip ended.
I was not trying to critalize the map makers, and there were several positive reviews about the chapters in this thread. But from the aspect as a sparetime game designer, I think the pace really means everything. First two chapters raised the players' mood to climax and suddenly the highly-anticipated last two chapters made the whole map into a shame. Long speeches can seldom attract players especially when the speeches are just to play the profound thinker from players' views. And when long speeches are continuous, players will mostly abandon the game.
Perhaps the long await made me too anticipated, therefore high expectations quickly doomed me to extreme disappointment. The first sentence of my review stated my attitude to the map: a disappointing masterpiece.
Pros
High-standard voice acting. Although the dialogues are boring, the voice acting make the experience far better.
Great buildings especially the spaceship.
New mobs including the so-creepy Lost Children.
Nice attempt of implementating cutscenes in a Minecraft map.
Excellent use of background music, all of them was perfectly chosen.
Mind-blown terrific atmosphere in Chapter 2!
Cons
Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 contains too many meaningless dialogues.
Lots of bugs in the initial version. Not sure how many were fixed in the new version.
Disappointing boss battle and ending.
Players do not have to kill mobs for reaching next area. The fight between players and peggy monsters don't exist.
Verdict
Chapter 1
8.6/10
Chapter 2
9.8/10
Chapter 3
6.1/10
Chapter 4
3.5/10
To restate, Exodus Season 2 is actually well-done comparing to other recent maps in the community. But the slow pace had killed the excitement of players - if it was not the dialogues, I would say this map would had deserved a much higher score.
Thank you for taking the time to play and review the map. It really helps. I do believe however that the bug y'all encountered in the tank area really changed the mood of the map for y'all from what I am hearing. In that scene, Lord Ivaren reveals his back-story and in turn forces you to make a decision between saving the "innocent" or "people who could help you save more innocent" just like he did in his past. What happened is that you pressed a button prematurely that did one of those decisions for you which resulted in the death of one of the people (Not saying who in case people are reading this who haven't played the map). This knocked the whole dialogue out of context and even bugged some of the later areas of the map. (Thats why Ivaren talked for so long. (There is also a minor-bug with the voice-acting that can occasionally cause it to repeat due to a player opening up their menus in the last half-second before the dialogue ends. I don't know if this is what happened to you. I have no idea how to fix this)
I have fixed this bug in the most recent update.
I do see where you are coming from about the dialogue being long and drawn out. However right now I can't rerecord some of the lines as the people who voiced them are away for summer break. Perhaps in the future I will shorten the dialogue.
The long dialogue is not pointless. In fact it serves a very strong purpose of the map. It was written to make the player think about big decisions and what truly makes a hero and what makes a villain. From one standpoint players find that Lord Ivaren is a psychotic and menacing villain. On the otherhand, he is seen to be a patriotic hero from the alien's perspective. (This is similar to Hitler in WW2, he was villainized by the world, but his people saw him as a hero)
Also your concern about Ivaren wanting the producer to come meet him actually makes sense if you think about it. He doesn't want you running around and killing all of his people before they arrive at earth. What would be the point of taking over the world if all of his people are dead due to some crazy human running and gunning all of his people. Ivaren's goals all revolve around the safety and prosperity of his people. So he invites you to the bridge so that you and him can square off and determine who will have control of earth.
Also there is several reasons I broke away from the fighting format that dominated Season 1.
1. It caused extreme lag for a bunch of users.
2. I wanted more story in the map.
3. A large majority of people wanted less fighting and more story in the second one.
4. I didn't want the sequel to be the exact same thing as the first.
5. It would be much more difficult to do that style of progression in a space map, as it is hard to make each new area different when confined to a space-ship or space-station
6. It was no longer a zombie apocalypse
As you played the initial version, there were a tremendous amount of bugs. (a ton of which impacted the flow of the story) Most, I hope I have fixed in the latest version. Hopefully this will result in smoother and more meaningful gameplay. Thanks for playing and I shall make note of all things that can be improved for future versions. :D
I have recently started a YT series on this, im using it as my return to YT after exams. i gotta say im having so much fun with it i'll definitely keep an eye on you R3D.
here's the first episode:
Nice! I'm loving the playthrough so far! Looking forward to seeing the rest of it!
My friends always ask me why Exodus Season 2: An Interruption In Space is my absolute favorite map, then i answer:
It is the acting and the story
just like a movie, a movie can't be good without good acting, a good movie can't be good without a good story
that's why Exodus 2 is my favorite map, the acting and the story is absolutely amazing and worth the time playing
R3D you have really done a good job with killing those bugs xD
Hoping to see you taking over earth and stopping you once again!
Just something i wanted to write because this is my favorite map
Aww! Thanks! The storyline was actually loosely stolen from a movie script I wrote a few years back. The Villain was primarily pulled (although his whole backstory is completely different) And so was the Captain
Dude, we glitched out the map and killed Benny and Hollis.
Ooh... What map version were you playing and how did you manage to glitch it? in v1.0 and v.1.1 there was a major bug that allowed that to happen. v1.2 shouldn't let that happen.
Thank you everyone for playing Exodus Season 2! I appreciate all of the feedback! I think I've knocked out all of the major major bugs and it should be fairly smooth gameplay wise.
It's been just over a week since the release and we are at over 1000+ downloads already!
Duude....700 Downloads On 48 Hours? That's insane!
Just So You Know, I Would Love To Build Season 3 With You
Loved The 1st And 2nd One! Good Luck!

Finished the map within 2 hours, great job RED!
It's a bit short but in general plot execution and flow of the event are great and fluent.
Lovely voice acting RED , you have done it again!
Looking forward to Exodus Season 3!

Exodus Season 2 was truly a mind blast and I felt much more involved and immersed into it than Season 1(which I did also enjoy tremendously)
