And I don't mean like "Wow whoa I never thought of that" or "I'm so impressed right now" I mean "Wow, my mind feels numb, my processes are kicked into overdrive and everything feels weird."
So I played it on hard and the first ten or so levels I was like "Wow hey, nice broken game ya got there, just stay at the one candle not doing anything and you're fine." I just sniped all the other mob spawns and was fine, barely anybody ever bothered me. Breezed right through.
Then on like level 20 something the entire arena is just FILLED with magma cubes, wither skellies, pig zombies, skeletons, creepers, at all four candles. It just becomes totally unmanagable. I honestly think magma cubes are too OP in this gametype, they become annoying and tedious to destroy on their own and in groups with the other mobs they're just impossible to keep up with. It takes a minimum of, what, 8 hits or something like that to destroy a single magma cube and all of its offspring? You can't do that at all in the later stages, there is no time to concentrate on the little ones and the erratic jumping nature of magma cubes in general.
Wither and cave spiders, although semi annoying because of their effects (Of course (Because I sure haven't had enough of overly-used, badly-used cave spiders in CTM maps) you can at least still kill on their own.
I do wonder how one is supposed to beat the last few levels, the stage is filled to the point to where there is no safe zones, there are no empty spaces, you just drown in a sea of mobs. It lacks all strategy at that point. If anybody wants to point me to a video where somebody is taking on the last few levels and actually managing it without drowning, I'd love to see it.
Haven't tried mental yet, I can't even imagine what that will be like.
I can't say I like the execution of the map, in the first part I was just bored while I broke the game and just stayed out of where mobs could spot me and sniped. In the second part the mobs spawn so fast, so plentiful, there's just no way to keep up. My main beef is the magma cubes though, if those were removed I think it would be a lot better.
This is an extremely reactionary post after playing for the first time, I shall be playing more to see if I'm wrong and there is a strategy to this. I played on single player and I notice on another post that a group of players seem to have managed hard mode, if the game can only really be played with more than one player dealing out hits...
I shall have to put in more playtime I suppose to truly test my suspicions.
You are so good to Minecraft and command blocks! I think that i have played all your maps and they all are so nice.
A Little question... How can you do that with the "Heal all" potion, and how can you also do that with the mobs when they are spawning?
Ps. Nice texture pack!
Best regards Andreas
The Uber Heal potion is a bottle of xp, once you recieve the xp the redstone detects your new level and triggers a command block with effect @a 6 1 10 (effect all players with Instant Health for 1 second with a multiplier of 10)
Zombies x3 means 3 candles on the cake will be spawning zombies every 5 seconds.
ok, so to sum all my problems up:
Force update your minecraft, so no mods will spawn, and you're good to go!
Thank you Disco for helping me solving this issue, I have played and passed wave 1 and everything is working!
Just curious if i'm doing something wrong: When i go to download the map from your website it tells me the zip folder is invalid or corrupt. When i save it and try to unzip it tells me there's nothing in the folder.
EDIT: Ok yeah it was definitely on my end. Apparently a browser issue. Did not work for me at all in Internet Explorer or Firefox but did work in Chrome. My bad!
I really like the map, I do. But, I feel that it's too hard. I can't get past wave 2.
I can get to about wave 11 or 12 before just getting owned on Normal. I feel the map is made primarily for 3 players. It would be nice to have a single player version.
Once there's no more "safe candles" you just can't kill mobs nearly as fast than they spawn. You can try to run and survive, but then you don't make any money to get the upgrades you need to continue further.
Doesn't help that I lag quite a bit without Optifine.
