Logged in. Paper spawning. Hopper. Anvil. Cake. Level 101. Button.
Should this be on peaceful? Starting on easy for now.
No rules or instructions.
Lagging like mad on this laptop. I may have to wait to play this until I can do so on my PC. There must be a clocks running?
Button says something about a hint. Don't want to push that multiple times in fear of getting some sort of score loss.
Ok - if I hadn't read the forums this would be really confusing. I think that's your point, but I would at least give them some instructions on the first puzzle.
Going do explore the hall before I do what I need to (rename the paper).
I hear something stepping on pressure plates I think.
Uh oh, I heard pistons. I'd better put it on peaceful. You can force that with a command block now.
Wow - 30+ puzzles (depending how you count this)?
Out of curiosity, I threw in an unrenamed paper.
Not sure what to do in room 1. I held down all the plates with paper. Maybe I need a stack of paper on one of these. But that means I just have to stand here and wait for enough paper to spawn? I am going to guess that I need at least 9 for the gold plate (I don't know how these work).
I got bored standing there, so I hit the hint button after all. Clever - looks like it rotates depending on what door you opened last!
Ok - I don't get what to do already. I've got them all held down. I tried doing it in the order of 93516, but the door isn't opening.
GOOD GRIEF I am stupid. I'm supposed to rename the paper. LOL! Ok - I will not forget that again.
But you didn't just give me a hint, you gave me the answer.
Whoa... wait a minute?! How did you get the code to show up in the dispenser GUI?!
11:53 AM 3/24/2013

Oops - my inventory cleared. Ok. RGBYP... but what do I do with the dyes...
Hmm. They don't always spawn the same. If I pick one up it changes? I that possible...?
Oh wow. They always spawn the right quantity? Wow. I didn't know you could do this with spawners!
Out of curiosity, I renamed all of my dye until the anvil broke.
I really hope a new one spawns!
Right-clicked the lava. I don't know what this notation means. ae[2=L]
23045. I transferred some from the dispenser to the lava dispenser, then pulled the lever. I suspect a hopper under the lava dispenser. No idea what I'm doing here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_mathematical_symbols did not help. Going for clue button
(Anvil is back)
Hmm... so the lever/light controls the ability to get out of the room...
I completely filled the dispenser below the lava. Light on. Light off. I'm completely stumped.

Ok... I totally give up. I don't know what to do with " æ [2=L] "
So you're stuck at the 'death' room?
This is what you should do:
Take the paper in your inventory and jump into the lava, then you die, but you'll keep your paper(get it 'death'?)
Then throw that paper into the hopper.
Good luck with the rest of the puzzles, some of them are waaay harder than 'death'
Btw, the reason why I did not tell you what to do at the spawn, is that I want to keep as much text as possible out of the map. So I made the spawn a sort of puzzle itself. Oh, and you do not get less score for getting hints,
and the ae stands for easter egg, but I couldn't find an ea symbol. Find all 6 of them and get a special thingey
I just watched youtube.com/qmagnet to figure it out. Thanks.
That other thing threw me WAY off for the last hour or so. I totally read too much into it. I've never seen that
ae used to denote easter egg
and never would have made that connection. I thought it was a math function.
More playthrough notes... sorry about the lag whining.
I heard Anistuffs was filming an LP of this, but stopped due to lag. You should see if some of the clocks can be disabled after you solve those rooms. Like the one above the door to "Death" that clears your inventory. Or some way to disable the dye spawners after the second room?
Ok... I totally give up. I don't know what to do with " æ [2=L] "
12:42 PM 3/24/2013 Been googling everything I can think of related to æ , math, equations, symbols. I must be missing something simple.
12:47 PM 3/24/2013 Good grief. I went into creative to see if there were hoppers under the lava, and to see what is tied to the light switch. Both of those things seem to be inconsequential to the puzzle.
So it's purely some function on 23045. But what...? I don't even dare try to debug/hack this from the outside.
12:51 PM 3/24/2013 Tried just simply naming paper to 23045. Obviously that would be too easy. I guess I'm just giving up until the map maker responds via forum.
12:58 PM 3/24/2013 thanks to youtube.com/theqmagnet I understand this puzzle now, and why my 'remaking' the paper didn't work. But this one feels 'off'. whats the purpose of that code under the lava?
1:07 PM 3/24/2013 walked into room 5, started noting the count of dyes. in the window at the end of the room I see item frames broken off of walls - is this right? OH - I see - this door and door 3 shared the same room. Wow - that's really clever actually!!
1:14 PM 3/24/2013 ok - this is interesting. the clock doesn't quite match any of these.
Middle button caused chaos. Very well done. I am really curious how you can control custom spawners to turn on/off.
jumped down and died of fall
every time I go up now it is freaking out... how to reset...?
I just restarted the map and saved a copy in this room, just in case.
The clock is different than last time. So how do I set it...
pressed the far right button. the map on the wall just wiped out and reloaded SLOWLY? I think the clock is at "2" now.
pressed middle. that must be 0
right is almost 7
Hmm -that was almost too easy
1:29 PM 3/24/2013, room 7
"return" would make sense...
hmm. not really in the mood for this kind of puzzle... it's hard for me to measure playtime in this type of map...
1:40 PM 3/24/2013 i have a guess. got it.
1:52 PM 3/24/2013 - I think I'm stuck at this point (room 8). This laptop just isn't powerful enough to deal with lag. I hear pistons when I jump in one of the 4 corners, and I assume that the block in the middle should raise, but I'm barely getting any fps. At one point I -think- I do see the middle block, but not 100% sure because I was mid-turn and it's hard to tell where I'm looking.
Ok - I actually got onto the 2nd block by just pushing forward/backward and jumping where I thought it was. but i'll have to wait until later and continue on my pc
actually, I can't wait going to watch youtube.com/theqmagnet
gone?

can I not get into this minecart? I guess I'll walk... not sure if that matters

not right. wth?
once again checking theqmagnet. hmm. we both had the same issue - I would say this puzzle is wrong

ah. the trapped chest. now there's nothing under the noteblock? oh wait - glass

I found the '8' but couldn't see it quick enough. Just for a reference point, I am trying to type in chat, in the infinite stairwell. there is a 2-3 second lag between keypress and the number showing up. once again - i'll just watch theqmagnet
ok - let me try this now that I see what to do
OOOOKKKK - NOW I get what's happening with easter eggs.

ok -back up the parkour
whoa... now it says "Statement" how did you switch the sign that said "gone"?!
simple math? why do I smell a trick
on my way back I got hit into a wall or something?
hmm. that was simple

omg wtf?!?!
that's awesome. i'm wondering if they're in minecarts with an offset maybe? they keep disappearing.
OH WAIT! It's because I'm on peaceful! It's a wonder I can even see them spawn - only because of lag. I need to turn it to easy!
That was a really cool puzzle. I liked it a lot, and glad to see The Dropper mentioned. (Have you seen my map, The Library?).
Although it may be risky if any of those videos every disappear! In fact... boblennon has no videos on his channel...
Impressive that you got these 5 channels to do that for you!
I think it's awesome and fair game for a puzzle map. I can see how others would not want to be 'taken out of the map' but all along the way I've had to use pencil and paper already.
More playthrough notes... sorry about the lag whining.

Ok some stuff:
I'll change room 9 a bit, so it makes more sense.
Maybe I'll change the names of fantasio and boblennon into thefantasio974
I think I found what is causing the lagg, there's a massive amount of air beneath the blocks, so minecraft has to render a long trail of shadow every frame, I'll try to put blocks beneath them. I'm not really happy with that, because that will increase the download time for the map.
I like how you're making these playthrough notes, it's as if I'm watching a LP without a video.
I like how you're making these playthrough notes, it's as if I'm watching a LP without a video.
Yeah. If I didn't do it this way, I wouldn't get a video out for at least 2 weeks, since I'm traveling next week without my pc.
I would say I review about 50% of maps this way. The notes don't mean much to players reading a review, but I really do this for the map makers, not the players
After rsmalec tweeted about the map, I decided to check it out for myself. I thought it has pretty fantastic at first, then there was a significant drop in quality, but a smoother finish. I'll go into spoilers:
IMO, the map really ended itself for me after #18, prior to that I thought it was going really well, and was quite fun. The QR code puzzle ruined it: I had to look it up in theqmagnet's LP since I simply do not have access to look up what the QR code might be: I don't have phone applications and such to do so. It really alienated me as a player, and I'd be willing to bet others would be in the same boat as well. #20 as a standalone works, I thought it was an interesting concept. #21 was epileptic and I would have no clue to check tab without the hint.. (do the painting titles suggest checking tab?), #22 is similar to QR as it's still off putting, same with #23. With the gem puzzle, #24, I got a 7 digit number, in which I tried the middle 5, the last 5, and the first 5, only getting it on the last one, which felt plainly random.
After gems, I think it picks back up. Merge is pretty cool. Draw could use better pictures, but the pictionary concept and solution was awesome. In fact, I liked all after this point, except 28 which was just waay out there, and the hint just gives it to you.. (what's up with that puzzle?).
I don't do organized ratings and the like, but I'd give this a 7/10. The puzzles towards the middle-end really were off-putting to me, can't really add anything else. Time to go cure my headache after #21 though. :S
EDIT: Meant to add a video to my post, showing how you might be able to avoid clock lag in the map. It might be different though, since the redstone Traz uses is separate from the map he's building, while your clocks might be more integrated.
14 -
Hrm... statement isn't here.. do I have to parkour again?
WOW - now it's a multiplier. (This time I see how it was done)
I can't express how awesome this 'progression' is!
15 -
I thought it might be the trapped chest that you have to open really fast, revisited a 3rd time.
Sadly, I had to use theqmagnet to solve this one
16 -
I switched to my high-end pc and I still get a little stutter when turning side to side, but movement doesn't seem lagged
this puzzle is pretty tedious, but still clever
I got the paper code, but there's a switch behind glass that didn't open yet
17 -
If I turn back after the drop, there is a sign (3)
then I come out of 11 with a (2) behind me, but I think I ignore this one
fall and I see a large 3
I wasn't able to see any other numbers while falling (but I wasn't looking). Could have been some 1s
I think the next fall was a 5
oh - suddenly I notice a death counter?
8
4
0
and then a 2 sign on the way out - also ignored.
18 -
ha. smooth move with the lever!
I flipped all of the switches, thinking that if any lights turned on it would indicate a second layer of puzzle, but they are all off
so what now...
WHOA?! HOW did... OMG. How did I not see that before on the wall? OMG OMG OMG. That is amazing.
HOw in the WORLD did you figure that out?!
AHA! Is it stairs and full blocks?!
That was my favorite puzzle so far
19 -
Oh, and no more death counter. I'm curious now if there was something that would happen if I had died more times...
Oh wow, that's great. Although I've never used a QR reader. And I wonder if there are a good number of people that don't know what it is.
Am I going to have to complete the puzzle and then figure out how to make my phone read my screen?
Lol, code merger
Aha! I looked all over for 'another piece of code' but all I had to do was give him 2 of the same one from the QR room (is that a bug?)
Now... what in the world do I do with this code?
Tried putting it back up into the dispenser.
The bottom-right cube is 7x7, so not sure how I would get 5 numbers out of it.
Certainly this isn't a real QR code, with the creeper.
I tossed the merged code into the hopper. No good.
Hint time. Ok... that doesn't seem to help. I tried putting QR in the 'experience' container.
I may have to watch a video again...
oh weird - he got the bottom corner, which I didn't
I didn't notice that number at the bottom of the hint. I don't want to jump past it tho - how do we do this one...?
Oh wow - according to theqmagnet's video, a qr scanner actually worked!
I feel like this puzzle is 10x worse than the YouTube one. I know a lot of people who would never be able to do this simply for the lack of scanner app. Although, you did give a hint. I feel like there should be someplace to put the merged code.
20 -
This one's cool, but a lot of button clicking through small increments
the 9 seems to be between 9 and 9...
somehow I messed up the very first one. had to hint
21 -
my game is flickering oddly, not just because of the lighting. I think I'm being rapidly teleported
Every now and then I see a lever flash, but...
tapawtk or ktwapat?
ugh - that room is making me a little naseaus!
Based on the green T, and all seem to be odd count of characters, I think it's middle letters...
RSETIBT? Maybe not. And there are 7
I'm now toggling between video and hint on these
Oh wow - I didn't even know you COULD hit tab on single player. and your hearts don't seem to change so, how the F did you do that?!
22 -
GOod grief! Are we supposed to quickly take dictation of binary?
1000 0111 1010 1110
8 7 a e?
had to hint. d'oh.
23 -
mushroom island
swampland
ice mountain
wow - this is another one I have no idea what to do with that info... looking them up
14 6 13. oh that actually worked
I think a lot of people will have no idea how to look that up
24 -
I figured out what squares shifted and did not
123
456
789
becomes
326
149
758
... so now what do I do with that...?
I googled gem puzzle and read about them. I think I get it... but how would that result in a 5 digit number?!
looks like TheQMagnet was also stumped. I'll look at the hint, then if I can't get it, watch the next part of his video
Ok. I see the movements, and there are 5 of them. Do I just take the number that is the primary pusher?
I'll have to do this in the morning. Too tired to think straight
Enjoying and despising this right now at the same time. Half the puzzles I'm grinning at your application of stuff like upside-down stairs and Antichamber-like Command Blocks, and half the puzzles I'm gritting my teeth in annoyance at very poor puzzle design and getting annoyed with the way you're using old concepts like old concepts. I think the worst were the several puzzles where I had to rapidly grab from the dispensers, the overuse of the rough parkour, and the dropper puzzles so far.
I've stopped on Smooth right now, as I'm extremely tired.
Right now this is looking at about a 7.5/10 on my imaginary scale, as the map is smart, but makes some really horrible puzzle choices. Visually, I now hate Quartz, and there's not really a story, but the creativity level is pretty high, as I enjoy many of the more "mind bending" puzzles.
Holy Heck. I am actually one of the very first people to finish the map, and I have to say I got extreme mindf*ck. When I finished it, one thing came into my mind: PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THIS!
So I went to famous minecraft youtubers's videos, spread comments about how great the map was, trying my best to make this map famous. Since now the map is featured on minecraftforums, I guess my work here is done I feel really good for you, good luck on your map! The Code is the best puzzle map ever!

Thanks, I tried to send it to youtubers too. But I haven't got that much responses so far. Let's hope at least one plays it.

I just finished it.. awesome.. and wow, just looked at my clock, I think I've spent around 5 hours.
The puzzles are awesome, only needed hints for about a third of the puzzles. The QR code didn't work for my phone, probably because it has no focus. My favourite part was the final number in Velocity, threading the needle. ;-)
Thanks for an awesome level, I hope to see more from you!

Light on. Light off. I'm completely stumped.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Æ doesn't help
12:22 PM 3/24/2013
And... Help...?
Btw, the reason why I did not tell you what to do at the spawn, is that I want to keep as much text as possible out of the map. So I made the spawn a sort of puzzle itself. Oh, and you do not get less score for getting hints,
I just watched youtube.com/qmagnet to figure it out. Thanks.
That other thing threw me WAY off for the last hour or so. I totally read too much into it. I've never seen that
This map needs to be bumped constantly.
Ok - I actually got onto the 2nd block by just pushing forward/backward and jumping where I thought it was. but i'll have to wait until later and continue on my pc
actually, I can't wait going to watch youtube.com/theqmagnet
gone?
trying 9 -
can I not get into this minecart? I guess I'll walk... not sure if that matters
cool statues
42878 (or 42870).
not right. wth?
once again checking theqmagnet. hmm. we both had the same issue - I would say this puzzle is wrong
trying 10 - I get what I have to do here. how do I make the dirt move over so the wood is under the noteblock...?
ah. the trapped chest. now there's nothing under the noteblock? oh wait - glass
11 -
2
button - ack what happened? LAAAG
12-
ok -back up the parkour
whoa... now it says "Statement" how did you switch the sign that said "gone"?!
simple math? why do I smell a trick
on my way back I got hit into a wall or something?
hmm. that was simple
13 -
omg wtf?!?!
that's awesome. i'm wondering if they're in minecarts with an offset maybe? they keep disappearing.
Ok some stuff:
Yeah. If I didn't do it this way, I wouldn't get a video out for at least 2 weeks, since I'm traveling next week without my pc.
I would say I review about 50% of maps this way. The notes don't mean much to players reading a review, but I really do this for the map makers, not the players
Maze Collection, Youtube channel, & RFW Series
(P.S. The mechanic from what I can tell from the trailer looks pretty cool. Can't wait to see how well it is :D)
14 -
Hrm... statement isn't here.. do I have to parkour again?

Thanks man, you're awesome
Really hard puzzles that also tests your mind
Really awesome map
9.5/10
The puzzles are awesome, only needed hints for about a third of the puzzles. The QR code didn't work for my phone, probably because it has no focus. My favourite part was the final number in Velocity, threading the needle. ;-)
Thanks for an awesome level, I hope to see more from you!
