.when you say "show your ideas of how to get through it" worries me. It sounds like you haven't tried this and just see it the possibility of it playing out in your mind.. I cant get through 2 days yet without disaster. striking but I learn something each restart. I am going for restart number 7
Thanks for another great map.

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

Sorry, I should have spoken better so I'll say it flat out:
I have played through multiple days, through multiple playthroughs, while testing this map. I've successfully gotten to the Nether and survived there through multiple trials, including getting the blaze rods so I know I could make a brewing stand and get a village started. I never went past that point, but once you get there you should be going pretty strong. I assume you have been having trouble before you were able to make a brewing stand.
I have tested 2 ways to get those blaze rods, and both were dodgy but worked. Since then I have thought up a way that should be almost risk free, that I will be trying when I have time. I am sure that there are other ways, that may be even more clever than mine.
Here are some hints that in my opinion are spoilers though if you've made it to the blazes killing you, you shouldn't get spoilered:
The blazes won't (well, they shouldn't. I've never had it happen to me) anywhere but the 3rd floor of the Nether. You have access to both water and lava before then, so you should have created a furnace and then some torches. You can also make a (crappy, but serviceable) cobblestone generator. You also have an infinite supply of planks.
In all of my playthroughs but one, I had all of this before I had a single iron ingot, and in that one playthrough that I happened to get one from a zombie, I used it to make flint and steel because I was lazy and didn't want to wait for the lava to ignite the wood to light the portal.
If you really need more help, I'll describe the technique I hope to use to get blaze rods with little to no danger, though I'd like to actually try it first. However, click this spoiler to see how I successfully obtained blaze rods (and withter skulls though blaze rods are the key to this map)
This, I personally would not want to read were I playing this map, so read at your own risk:
In previous runs I made a little house with a half-slab floor and used it as a base of operations to go out on little tactical hit-and retreat runs. It was dodgy but if I took the cautious route (and retreated at the first sign of danger) I was generally okay. And if all I had on me was a couple swords, I was always fine with dying for the cause.
Pancake Survival 1.0 is here!
This is another minimal-survival map from the maker of OceanBlock!
(No, this is not about surviving on pancakes.)
Then what do you call that ground? Short stack? Implies more than one :-)
EDIT:
And, regarding that outer spoiler:
Giving water AND lava before the blazes? Too easy. All the torches we want? You've got a snow biome? One pumpkin to farm? Snow golems to use snowballs against the blazes?
Oh, right: snow biomes requires that bugfix map. Waiting ...

"Pancake" implies one And technically there are more than one pancakes, if you count the Nether.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but considering the complaints I don't think the problem with this map is that it's too easy :). Actually, I don't think there are any problems with this map but that's just me.
Well, there is was one problem with this map: It was missing the other biomes! I've released the 1.1 update that you can download from the front page. Or, you can follow the (hopefully simple) instructions on how to modify a 1.0 map to have the same biomes that the 1.1 map has.
Slight spoiler about blaze hunting:
I've had mixed success with snowballs in the past, but they are a viable way to take down a blaze. These days I just charge 'em with a sword and try to take 'em down before they get too high up.
I pillared up as well. You just pillar up too high for mobs to notice you. Then you stand there. Yawning. Until daylight comes and they all start to burn! Except for the creepers and spiders of course.

you misunderstood me I meant 2 minecraft days, I haven't made it to the nether yet, I am at the happy my trees are growing and I got a few apples.stage.
Thanks to your very clear explanations, I was able to update my saved game. I shall continue your fantastic map, but at a more normal pace (my mom was in hospital and I played like mad waiting for news from her. She is ok now).
Good to hear, both about the biomes and your mother! I hope she continues to be well.
I hate explaining things, so am always worried that either nobody will get it or it will be way too overexplained.
I'll have to get a diamond pickaxe to move the portal which really is in a wrong place now, but this will just take time. I'll post some pictures when I'm finished.
I have been experimenting and looking in the forum and wiki but can't find how to light the portal with lava. Can you direct me to a tutorial
I don't know of a tutorial, but if you put some wood next to and above the lava (like 1 meter up, one to the side) it should light. Then, put another block of wood BEHIND the portal, so the fire can jump from one wood block to the other THROUGH the portal ring, it should light. It may take a few times. It's best to just set up the wood and ignore the portal and do other things for a while. Come back, and if your starter wood is burned, put more down. Eventually it'll light.

It might take some hunting, but I remember reading up about a tutorial dealing with what your asking or on the skyblock map. because you don't get flint or gravel on that map. I'll check up on that when I get a chance.

(Since I was only a couple of days in, I went ahead and restarted using the Pancake 1.1 map, instead of painting the biomes on.)
The first part shows some brief highlights of my first 2 days, since we've already seen most of that in the prior episode.
I'll by trying to go to the Nether in the next episode, don't tell me what I'll find there, I want to be surprised!
Excellent map! I'm having a blast with it, honestly I think its plenty easier than Oceanblock, the waiting around is what kills me on that map!
I think I'm on about minecraft day 15-20 and I have already got decent house, farm in the nether, cobble generator, and a sky mob trap that is currently making me goodies, just waiting on iron igots. Not died once yet, however I did start over when the map patch came out.
I find the best advice is get to the nether as fast as possible, like second chore after making shelter, spiders make things much quicker too, holes in the roof help to gather string.
Can't wait to crack open the rest of the nether!
MegaTrain execellent vids! I have been enjoying them.

The definition of Insanity is, doing EXACT the same thing over and over again expecting things to change... THAT is crazy.
Ok after playing a little further tonight I ran into an issue, I can't stack diamonds, if i put one on top of another it just goes to one diamond. I tested it both in survival and creative on the same map same issue.
Works fine on my other maps.
I'm running 1.5.1, Thoughts?

Are you talking when you take them out of the chest, or at any time whatsoever? How exactly are you stacking them? (double click, click and drag, clicking on one diamond with another already picked up by the mouse)
I'll go and test my map. I didn't see this while testing in the prerelease, but I'm not 100% sure I ever tried it.
Thanks for another great map.

Do I need 1.5.1 for this, or does it play on 1.4.7?

Oops. I put that in the book but not on the first page.
This map REQUIRES 1.5 or later. It has Quartz in it, which will (I think) be replaced with air if you load the map in a lower version.
There will not be a version of this map that works on older versions of Minecraft.
