You sir, yes you! May I be allowed to create a sequel to this map/modpack?
Unfortunately ChocolateySyrup hasn't been active on these forums since May but i've made an updated version for 1.7.2 with some new quests and a decent bit of content changes (check my threads if you interested in it or search Sky Den 2.0) and i've had no problems as far as being contacted or being told I don't have permission so I have to assume it's fine since he seems to have gave up on it.
I recommend using Tekkit to play Skyden afaik the captain sparkle pack is still working -all the others look broken
This is a really good pack even though most of the mods it uses have all been updated, so its quite out of date.
Using Tekkit is much easier than trying to install by yourself so I'm leaving instructions for the original skyden as played by Captain Sparkle and Generikb, they both have L.P.s
1)install Tekkit and run it
2) select 'add new pack' - a pop up window opens, it wants the pack link.
3)paste in the link - you have to use the paste button in the pop up window - right click wont work. It will tell you where its going to save, you can change this if you want, then press 'add modpack'
4)You are returned to the main Tekkit window which should now include sky den survival as one of the packs you can play, scroll through the list of packs to find it.
Hope this helps, I really enjoyed this pack, it introduced me to modded MC and now we have the HQM mod to make more packs like this, try Agrarian skies, Crash Landing or one of the many new packs that use HQM if you want to try similar up to date packs.
Just as a note, the CaptainSparklez pack does not include the Cosmic Patch, and installing it didn't seem to work either. Nor did using the NPC Wand. I just got to the Four Trials in my own Lets Play, and had to use the /tp method to get to the place of trials. So far, my method of returning to my base has been dying (once by mob attack [Earth trial], and once by accidentally tping to the wrong coordinates [Water trial].)
I am trying to install this on my own personal server to play with family. I am unable to get this to work on a Forge Server with minecraft 1.8.1 It is missing blocks. Is there anyone that can give me clear step by step instruction on how to install this on my server.
There are some annoyances that may need debugging.
* the inventory screen has "give yourself anything," which I know I'm supposed not to use but it's right there in my face, man.
* when trading with an NPC, I accidentally Ctrl-clicked an item, and I got 64x of that item deposited in my inventory for free. That can't be something you intended. I had to figure out how much stuff I should throw in the void to keep it fair.
* this weird inventory screen's "SAVE" buttons cover the left 25% of any large game interfaces, like the enchantment table. I haven't seen this enchantment table interface before, and I think the text behind the 'SAVE' buttons was supposed to help me. I ended up enchanting a shovel by pressing the bits between buttons at random.
* those light-panels on the island outside the NPCs sky-den? The light-panels don't prevent monster spawns. I've had to chase zombies and skeletons that head into the building, and try to hit them without hitting the NPCs or the little pup. This is nerve-wracking, and I'm certain it wasn't your intention. I ended up violating your 'don't mess with this island' rule to put sufficient torches to prevent monsters spawning.
* Respawning isn't at the bed, like with normal single- and multi-player maps I've played. Instead, my respawn is a random direction and distance from my bed. I died many times in a row before I land on the home island. I ended up building a 20x20 'safety-net' and I hope it's big enough to catch me.
* One of the major quests requires I'm make a "wand." This isn't a normal minecraft item, and nobody's told me the recipe. How'm I supposed to know the recipe? (Do one of the other NPCs tell me as the result of a sidequest? I don't think so, I haven't seen any new sidequests after seeing to the Herbalist's ample melons. And by that I mean her fruit.)
On the plus side: I can see your hand in the NPC text and art, and this feels good. The sky-box maps never appealed to me before this one.
I've had some pleasant facepalm moments. Here's one: on my first trip in the Nether, I forgot not to use normal blocks for the floor. After building my bridge halfway out to [REDACTED], I looked back and saw what must've been sixteen chunks worth of zombie pigmen all huddled around the few normal blocks I left around the portal, trying not to push each other off. I tried rebuidling the floor, but, well, crowded small area, one pigman stepped in front of my pickaxe, and took grave offence. Much of my blood was spilled before they felt their honor was restored for the great toe-stubbing incident.
You make wand like a hoe , but with bread instead of , say , iron ingots.
My husband and I started playing this today, and we find that although we can make bowls and milk the mooshroom, we cannot consume the stew inside The stew disappears, and the bowls re-stack. Also, when trying to put full bowls in a chest, they disappear. Any fix for this?
EDIT: It was only like this in 1.4.7. If run in 1.4.6, everything runs smoothly. Using 1.4.6 in MultiMC even fixes the issue with NEI.
I'm pretty sure that's called "sky block", the whole point of Sky Den is a questline which is highly mod-based.

Is there any way it can be played without the custom NPC mod? because I want to play on 1.8.1, and there is no download for 1.8.1.
Am.
Awesome.
Is there more to say?

Hey, I'm not sure if I screwed something up or what happened, but NEI won't work. Anyone know how to fix it? (Yes, I did try to press "o")
