Three areas left! I'd estimate I'm about 75% done with the map right now, and each of the remaining areas could take quite a long time to make. I still don't want to put an ETA on the map beta, but as Vechs would say it, "The time before it arrives should be measured in weeks, not months."
So here's my deal with you all; when we get to page 8, I'll stop what I'm doing and take a screenshot of whatever I happen to be working on at the moment. It's a bit of a gamble, I'll admit, as I might be doing something boring like interior furnishing, or I may be working on something cool like... Well, everything in Intersection 04 is gonna be cool. :3 Sound good?
Wow, you're really getting through this, Drago. Can't wait to play it
Indeed I am, I'm kinda surprised my momentum has carried me this far, to be honest. A lot of my other projects, or really, almost every other project I've attempted, has gotten into a slump at one point or another, but I'm just motoring right along with this one. Must have something to do with the variety that I'm working with.
So just a bit of a background explanation, I'm supposed to have school today and tomorrow. However, since I'm homeschooled, that means I've only got to do catch-up work and maybe one or two mandatory assignments, meaning I'll have most of this week and the two weeks after to work on finishing the map.

Nice. Seems like you'll be ready before christmas for betas?
Well, kind of. I only have to build three more areas, but after that I need to do the pre-alpha stage of polishing and detailing, the actual alpha test (where I run through the whole thing and hope nothing is too broken), the post-alpha stage, where I rework, detail, and polish some more (in case anything needs major revisions), and then I'll be ready to release the beta.

I'm still tentative to put an ETA on this. If things go well, it could very likely be out before Christmas. If things slow down, I hit a rut, or there need to be major changes during the post-alpha stage, then it might be pushed past Christmas. Even if I need to change a lot after the alpha test, the map shouldn't be that far off.
And since I'm pretty sure this is going to be the 8th page page-get, here's what I happen to have been working on. It's in my indev world, so it's going to make an appearance in the map, but maybe not quite like it currently appears. (I did say this was a bit of a gamble.)
meh, I can take or leave bedrock structures. I'd rather have the freedom to work my own way through an area than be that restricted. Hence my dislike for I5 on Legendary...
but that's just me xD
Don't worry, I'm not planning on having the base-block of that area be bedrock, just that one spot and maybe a few others.
Alternative methods of passage include boats, beds and minecarts.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure putting boats down outside of water doesn't work anymore, and you'd need rail lines for the minecart. Beds, okay, maybe. But you shouldn't need to use any of those methods to get to it in the first place.
Hey guys, i just started my training for this map.
Guess what map?
Isaac's Lonely Lands Map
By all means keep playing that map, but it probably won't prepare you for my map as well as some other CTM maps might. The difficulty of areas is a bit wonky in some respects, being too easy in some places and too hard in other places.
---
Alright, with that aside, I have some not-too-great news that isn't actually that bad. I think it's a definite by now that I won't be able to release the beta before Christmas, and I wouldn't hold by breath for a pre-2013 release either. I recently got accepted into Monumenta, so most of yesterday was- and likely a good portion of today will be -spent making a base for myself on the server. I will do my best to balance the time I spend there with the time I work on my map.

In 1.4.5 you can put boats out of water. Rail lines for a minecart can be gotten from Rail-kit chests. Beds are a trouble to use.
Just figured that if you're gonna stop the use of enderpearls and bridging and stuff you mind as well be absolutely thorough and encase the area in a 2 thick bedrock wall, but I guess that's not really the point here
What is Monumenta? I've heard of it, don't know much about it though... just a multiplayer server for CTM makers or something? :S
And I'm sure we all understand you've gotta play as well as build!
Yeah, it's kinda more of a server for prominent members of the CTM community, so it includes mapmakers like myself, KingKaider, and Xekaj, as well as CTM veterans like Hybran, Red, and Isaac. Apparently I've made myself prominent enough to have been accepted.
Oh by the way, does anyone check the little area names list on the OP? Maybe I didn't make it clear, but I update that fairly regularly with my estimate of how far through an area I feel I am.
...and what makes you think there's going to be a floor? >>>>>>>>>:3
(Honestly, you guys should just wait to see this area before formulating plans; it's going to be mindbend-incarnate.)
Dinnurbunneh, can i has a flying broomstick for christmas? Also mindbend incarnate is Vinyl Fantasy, sorry to say but that map takes all the mindbends.
One, I think I'm going to hold off on working on Armpit of the World for a while (that's the area I've been working on recently) in favor of starting Everdark Atlas. I'm still excited about working all all the areas that I still have to finish, but... Heh, one can only stand making mushrooms for so long, know what I'm sayin'?
This is slightly less of an update, but I came up with an interesting idea that I'd like to share. As you probably know, both Vechs and Amlup have created some pretty popular youtube series' revolving around them playing their own maps and giving "developer commentary" about it. Unfortunately, I do not have the computer that would be needed to record youtube videos, and quite frankly I would not be a very good commentator. However, since I absolutely love getting the developer perspective on what they've created, I thought that I may release a version of the map that I've played through and completed, then leave some floating markers leading to text files with my views on different areas. This would both show you ways that I went about conquering the areas, as well as what I was thinking when I made the areas. The map could be played on peaceful (though obviously people should play the full map first) and would probably only take an hour to complete.
If I were to do this, would any of you be interested in playing it? It would be more of a standalone expansion to the map than an update or different version.

Not much- wait, that makes it sound like I'm not working on my map at all, which is false. :3

And yes, that's bedrock. :3
*ender pearl*

*run*
lol, i had the exact same thought. Of course now he'll probably surround it with ghasts, blazes, and cave spiders to make the "run" part harder.

uh huh. . .
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I made it to intersection 2 :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
