I had JUST came up with an idea, *cough* *COUGH* teleporters *COUGH* *COUGH* Just an idea.
If you dont get it, you could give the player command blocks so that they could use that as a quick way back to a certain intersection.
Avalon Fortress. Will. Be. Awesome. *COUGH* *COUGH* My gosh. I have a horrible cough. IRL. Maybe even custom villager trades. hint hint.
I have considered teleporters as shortcuts, as you can't really use rail-lines in an islands map. I'm not sure about them, but I'll think of a way. Oh, and giving the player command blocks won't help, 'cause you can't modify commands for a command block in survival mode.
I have also thought about villager trading, and I may implement it somehow, but again, I'm not entirely sure.

Really?
Oh yeah, Huh. if you Do give the people command blocks, the players could cheat and teleport to the wool room and whatever in a dungeon. If they know the coords, though. But still, I'm about to try to edit command blocks in survival.
EDIT: Apparently, you need to be an op on creative.
Booyah. Just flew through building all of the second area of Avalon Fortress today (cleverly titled "Avalon Crypts." :3 ) All that's left now is some detailing in the main building, adding some spawners, and then organizing the loot and I'll be done. I think after that I'll work on Shardveil Cove for a day or so, see how I like it, and then move on to Untapped Underpass if it gets boring, or finish it if I enjoy it.

My momentum shall live on!
So,you are done working on the structure for Avalon Crypts,How long did that take? Also, When are you going to put up a screenie for it? Maybe put up like a dungeon room pic or something. I was messing around in mcedit and made a spawner that spawned flaming pigs with saddles on. I also made a potion spawner that spawned fire protection potions next to the pig spawner. You should really make some like relaxing parts of the map or something. Maybe put a carnival, not a Karnival or someplace with a minigame. I don't know.
Happy Holidays, here's a quote:
Happy Holidays, Here's a Thing!
P.S. When I will be able to make a map, I might make a CTM map that requires the player to kill a mob for a piece of wool. For Example, if you had played Herobrines Mansion, Hypixel actually had custom health mobs such as skellies or Zombies with like insane amounts of health or something.

Isn't there an MCEDIT filter on doing that?
I basically built the whole thing in one day. I started with pretty much nothing but a basic outline on paper and a certain style I wanted to use, and I finished the whole thing just going off of that. It isn't really an area that deserves a screenie, unfortunately; I'd much prefer the challenge of the area to be what makes people remember it, and thus you'll just need to wait for the map to come out. And leave the map-making to me; I've got peaceful areas planned, don't worry.
I think almost everyone is familiar with Herobrine's Mansion by now. And yes, there's an MCedit filter for custom trades, but I think there's also a tool kamyu made that allows you to make an MCedit schematic with the villager and trades all packaged up, so I'll probably use that instead.
(Also, just a little side note, I really don't want to discourage you from posting here since I like that you're so enthusiastic about what I'm doing, but please don't post random music videos like that. They're very off-topic, and I'd rather the thread not get a bad rep for being half about a map, half about random other stuff. If you could remove them from your last post and refrain from posting things like that in the future, that would be great. )
So, you're on IS3? looks like the map is coming close to completion!
Indeed I am! Putting the final touches on Avalon Fortress/Crypts right now. However, all the areas in Intersection 04 are gonna be fairly large, so I think I've still got a ways to go before the map can qualify as "close to completion". However, I've been looking forward to building all of the areas in Intersection 04, so work may very well go fast.
I'm like painfully close to being finished with Avalon Fortress. There are literally three things left on my to-do list: 1. Decorate a few rooms. 2. Place a few spawners. 3. Whip up a few randomized loot chests.
It has been a long road, probably the longest I've spent on a single area for this entire map, but it has been well worth it. I'm very satisfied with how things came out, and the whole thing has been polished to a shine. Here are some pics of the finished product.
With SMP's Revival.
With default.
I feel like working on Shardveil Cove before making Untapped Underpass, just 'cause I think it'll be a bit faster than what I've planned for UU.
Ahhh that place looks awesome but... ghast spawners? Noooooo *cry* xD
Don't worry, they really shouldn't be that difficult to disarm, and I placed them so that only a few ghasts would spawn by the time you reach that area. I may adjust them if they become problematic during my testing.
EDIT: Ooh! Page get! And 100th reply get! And lava bucket get! Gotta think of something meaningful to show everyone...
Aha!
Two or three sets of this suit of armor will pop up around the map, generally hidden in plain sight.
Make that 102 replies. I'm sorry I wasn't able to contribute before, but, after reading through all the pages, my eyes now hurt. I'm glad I read through all the pages. Also, how do you get the custom descriptions and colors for the weapons and armor and stuff? I know it was used in Herobrine's Mansion, and I'm intrigued to how you got them to do that.

Ooh, shiny. What Armor is that, Iron? Hmm, I think its leather.

Hey Tala! It was actually pretty easy. I used Sethbling's "Modify Item Strings" MCedit filter (google is your friend). You just place the item(s) in a chest, run the filter and plug in the name/lore, and voila!
I really can't wait. This looks like something I'll gladly play with friends
I hope you'll enjoy it when it comes out! Having someone play the beta with other people could provide some really helpful feedback.

Work on Shardveil Cove is going pretty nicely, my basic concept has kinda changed a bit from what I originally wanted it to be, but I'm liking things so far. I'd estimate I'm about 40% done with it now (it's a simple area, should take 30 minutes max), and I may very well finish it by the end of this week. I've got a pretty sweet twist in mind for the last part of it. >:}
EDIT: Guys, from now on I'm gonna talk in edits, so I can keep my Mathematical Dessert name.
Every bloody CTM map series boasts that it's bigger, longer, and harder than other CTM series. It's almost as if it's a **** measuring contest. (bigger, longer, harder...)
I'm liking the progress on this. Initially something seemed...off...about Avalon fortress to me for some reason, but in the second screenshot you posted it looks really great . Loving the loot system too. Can't wait to see more!

Yeah, I definitely deviated away from my original idea of making something akin to your survival map, but yeah, I see what you're getting at. And thanks! (Oh guys, you've gotta check out Darkshadow's survival map, Faraway Avalon. It was my inspiration for Avalon Fortress, though as I mentioned above, things kinda went off track with that. Anyways, you should definitely check it out.)

In other news, I've been making awesome progress with Shardveil Cove; got the wool placed and the majority of the structures built. A few touch-ups and additions and I should be finished with it. Oh, and I'll hook you guys up with a teaser screenie when I am finished.
If you're interested in some beta testers I can ask some of my friends to give it a whirl. I'd love to myself but I've alway found it hard to complete a CTM map single-handedly because it's so much more fun to play with friends.
