And, wonder of wonders, I have one jungle tree and three more jungle saplings in the chest. Didn't even have to restart this run because I didn't get any jungle drops.
I added some extra jungle (and other tree) leaves to start, to increase the chances of getting a drop. Seems to have worked
And nice screens! Your little platform is coming along nicely.
Well whenever my favorite mod and TP gets updated for (1.5.1) I'll be trying out OB 4.1 BTW was your Pancake survival made for 1.5 or was it made in 1.4.7?

Both maps are for 1.5. Each have quartz in them, which will magically vanish if you load them in lower versions.
Got to play some more this evening - I've been working on the Mega Village. The first pic is looking at the Mega Village from the center of the island (on top of the NPC "jail":
The next shot is looking over the Village from just outside where the front gate will be. The central golem area is still flooded with water (I built it one block below sea level so I don't need a bucket to make the water flow - I'll just fill everything but the water source blocks along the wall with sand, then clear it out from the center out - the result will be the same as if I placed it with a bucket, but no bucket needed). With the water still there for now, monsters shouldn't be able to spawn there - not that I'm working through the night. As you can see, I have the NPC ring almost 3/4 of the way around the golem area. I'll wait to add the doors after I've gotten the NPCs in the ring:
The last two shots are the tunnel leading to the golem kill chamber I built it with steps so I don't have to jump all the time:
After I have the Mega Village finished and I'm starting to collect some iron, I'll probably start building the monster farm, and I'll start framing out the food and animal areas. The first two biomes I'll fill with dirt will be the swamp and mushroom biomes - I'll leave the jungle and taiga biomes till later so I don't get a bunch of wolves and/or ocelots spawning in. And if I build the pasture first, my cows, pigs, sheep and chickens should start spawning in there.
And the Mega Village is virtually complete - just have to add the second layer of doors along the two sides (I've got two layers in front and back and one layer along the sides) and it will be totally finished. My first golem spawned in the NPC ring (I had them locked in the front section so the game must have figured the center of the village from the middle of that section), but after I killed him, two more have spawned in the golem area and washed down the kill hole - Got enough iron to start using that instead of wood for tools. I've also got an NPC who trades emeralds for iron, so that will work well. I messed up the water source (as you can see in the pic), so the first thing I made was a bucket - it has been fixed since I took this screenshot. Now it's time to start work on the Mob Farm.

Sweet screens! Makes me wish I had enough time to play. Stupid Game of Thrones starting 3 weeks after the update came out.
Can you play the game without Villagers? I got far into it and zombies overan me... And my villagers
It's really really hard without villagers. Iron takes about 1000 times more work to get from zombies than it does from iron golems, and there are tons and tons of trade opportunities you're missing out on (like diamond tools and armor, and redstone which is nowhere else on the map).
You can get some more eggs from the Emergency Cache way up in the air. I suggest you do so. If you don't want to (or already did and lost those) then you're stuck with cheating more in or restarting from scratch. I would personally restart, and knowing what you know now try to protect your villagers from dangers.
Can you play the game without Villagers? I got far into it and zombies overan me... And my villagers
Nope - gotta have the villagers for trades and to generate iron golems. There are four villager eggs in the cache above - that's about your only option (besides restarting). That's why I used the Mega Village design - the doors are on the outside so the zombies stay outside and don't spawn in with your villagers. Also, I always sleep through the night unless I get caught by sunset. So, there are two rules I go by in this map - put the doors on the outside and never use half slabs for the floor under the villagers (They'll glitch through).
One last update before bed - I got a diamond pick from one of the villagers so I won't have to use the diamond under the island for that. Haven't been so lucky as to find one to enchant it with fortune, but I'm not really worried about that. The Mob Farm is almost complete - just need to let the water flow and put the roof on it (half slabs so nothing spawns on top). I put down a 15 x 15 platform one block underwater for the pasture (I like to put a layer of blocks under the soil so I don't lose it if I decide to move it) - working on getting the grass over there from one of my biomes. I built a small temporary house, but it won't be the final one - I'll leave the design of my final house as a surprise for now. I'm building a room under the original island to make collecting the diamond, lapis and obsidian easier - once I have the obsidian, it's Nether bound for some lava and much needed cobble (just about out of coal, so I'll need some charcoal soon - and there's a villager who will trade for coal or charcoal, so that's a bonus!).
Now it's about time to start collecting wood for my MegaVillage (named in honor of Megatrain for his design! )
I love Megatrain's village! I also have my own 18x18 golem pit of despair, with a surrounding channel of village folks, but I never thought of how simple and ingenious it was to fence the villagers up the way he did, each with their own little signs. I admit to cringing as he dropped sand on their little heads, but it does beat hacking them down with a wooden sword which is what I was doing at first. Hope MegaVillage goes well!

Nice job! Glad it is working out for you!
Yes, even when you build the doors evenly, the game sometimes doesn't recognize some of the new doors as part of the village right away, so the centerpoint calculation is off. It should correct itself as the villagers wander around the circle and continue to multiply.

Yeah, the wooden sword method ensures that any spawning golems will be immediately angry, even if they spawn right behind you. Ask me how I know
I'm definitely sold on replacing the sand with sticky pistons when that becomes feasible, as 5thHorseman and I were going on about a few pages back. If you weren't following that side conversation, we came up with two related piston-based devices, one to automatically lock a wandering villager in the booth via a pressure plate and piston, and a second to smother the villager from above with a flick of a lever. The smother device is easy to add, and doesn't require the auto locker. The auto locker is harder to add, since it requires redstone under the village, and also requires that you have the overhead smother device, since dropping sand on the pressure plate just drops the sand as an item.

Yeah, imagine my surprise when the villagers and any current and future golems took umbrage at my wooden sword tactics. I really do like watching yours and 5th Horseman's (though I guess he's on a hiatus) videos along with some others because I have a hard time getting contraptions to work properly in MC. If I can see it being done, it starts to make sense though. I should view more actual tutorials on pistons and redstone and the like, but LPs are just so much more fun! Still I am going to experiment with an overhead smother device and see what I can come up with. If I'm not personally dropping sand on their heads maybe there will be some kind of guilt transference and I won't feel so bad lol.

Even though I'm not playing as much right now, I can't stop thinking about Minecraft and I think I've solved the reset problem for killing villagers.
Once you set up your golem farm, you will end up with a steady stream of iron AND roses. You could set up some sort of rail line that takes the roses up above the whole contraption and drops them one at a time into dispensers above your villager heads. The dispensers would be aimed down at a wooden pressure plate that would power the killing piston.
You hit a button, which dispenses a rose onto the pressure plate, which lowers that piston for 5 minutes. That's excessive, but now you can walk away and 5 minutes later the trap would be completely reset and ready for the next villager.
Granted, this is far more resources than you'd ever want to spend on something like this, but I think I'll probably try it anyway Also, it's a bit mean to kill villagers with the roses that the iron golems (which you're also killing) were trying to give to those same villagers, but hey that's not my problem!
Thought I'd post a few more screenshots of my platform. I've made a lot of progress today (had a day off and got to play for a few hours). The first pic is of my farm - you can see the pasture on the left, the tree farm in the center and the crops on the right. Got everything in now except for Netherwort (not sure where I'm gonna put that). The rectangle in front of the pasture is a squid tank - haven't gotten any to spawn in there yet, but I'm hopeful).
The second shot is another view of the MegaVillage. I'm getting a stack and a half of iron every time I go down.
The next shot is my mob farm - I'm getting a ridiculous amount of drops from the monsters in there.
The last shot is my Nether Portal room. It is located over the End Portal. I've cleaned out the resources from under the platform, and built a small basement there. I put my enchanting table under there - only a couple of bookshelves so far, but I'll buy more pretty soon.
Next major project is to rebuild my house - right now it is just a little 5x7 basic house, but, well, you'll just have to wait and see!
Also, it's a bit mean to kill villagers with the roses that the iron golems (which you're also killing) were trying to give to those same villagers, but hey that's not my problem!
This is just like.... like.... Poetically cruel!
