Feel honoured Sir, for you now have a dedicated folder on my computer for maps. Not many get a folder for their maps only. (I'm serious btw. Your the second one to get a folder, after the creator of SuperHostile.)
I do feel honored!
I have a confession: I've never played one of those maps. I should give them a try.
I still haven't tried the new OceanBlock map (it's been HARD to resist!) since I'm still playing my other version and Pancake Survival.
Resistance is futile!
But I think I'm going to give it a sneaky little test drive here at work, haha. My work computer doesn't run MC that well, so I have to leave view distance really low, but that should be ok for just trying it out I hope!
I used to only have a crappy computer to play Minecraft on, which I think is why I got so into Skyblock. It plaed the same on Tiny as it did on Far. This and Pancake should benefit from that as well.
Pancake survival huh? I might check that out, but I did "sneak peek" of 4.1 OB...(aka I loaded the map and went into creative) and I must say the challenges book with the categories was very well done and organized
Thank you. The idea just popped in there while I was organizing the Pancake Survival books, and so I just made both maps' books similar.
and the fact that you encased the nether in a GIGANTIC box of bedrock was brilliant...it'll kill those ppl that try to break the rules and build a large bridge to the "mainland" so unless the outright cheat...(aka go into creative and break the bedrock) there would be no possible way to get there!
Actually, there is a way without cheating, though I'd still consider it cheating in spirit. If you go REALLY FAR in the overworld and build a portal, it'll drop you in the "mainland" nether.
And no worries on the mods, I'm much stricter in the book than in real life. I barely even cringe any more whenever Tannah chops down an entire jungle tree on his Let's Play with a single axe hit.
You are right Mr. 5th! Played the updated version of OceanBlock during slow moments in the office today and had no problems whatsoever on my goofy work computer. I'm trying to think of things to do differently this go around with OB. I've already found myself making the same color patterns again with the wood that I did last time. And I REALLLLLLY don't want to do another 18x18 golem farm so soon after making the last one. Looting those sad little red roses in the golem pit makes me feel so guilty. Will have to think of creative new ideas!

The fact that Tannah uses Timber somehow legitimized me using it myself. xD Now I'm spoiled and playing without it since I've been too lazy to re-do all of my mods and I'm still waiting for updated Optifine. It's hard to go back to manually chopping those jungle trees...

The worst is when - as they're suffocating - they're offering you a rose. Way to make a guy feel bad.
When I do it, I'm going to do my golem farm with hoppers so all I do is grab the stuff from the chest whenever I run by. That way, I don't have to see the carnage.

I know...it's horrible! I'm a derp and haven't really figured out how to integrate hoppers into my current designs of things yet but if you come up with a good (aka easy) design, I will definitely try it! Golem guilt...avoid avoid!

My golem farm already has a sticky piston killing mechanism, so all I would need is hoppers underneath, and a very long time of some sort (maybe hooked to a daylight sensor?)
Or even better, replace the piston with a lava blade, which should work with no redstone or other working parts.
I'm just going to have the golems fall into a 3-deep pit. The bottom meter of that is running water going out through a 1-high hole, the middle part of the pit is signs, and the top part is lava. Their heads will burn, they'll die, and drop their loot in the river. The river will take the loot off to the side and drop it in a hopper over a chest and bammo, guilt*-free iron.

Why oh why does this sound like Greek to me? Are you going to implement this setup in your current LP of OceanBlock? If so, I think I'll understand it better if I can see it. I have like a mental block sometimes when it comes to all things mechanical/redstone/involving of anything more complicated than "put a block here". I catch on eventually, but I'm much better off if I can see it being made rather than trying to visualize it theoretically.

Also hoping you are going to make this on your LP too! The more examples I see, the better. Plus I like seeing the different types of construction that people come up with for projects and how they improvise and improve them

Please explain this: Whenever I want to extract the file it says folder is empty, and I can't delete it saying "access denied"
Is Minecraft running? I've had trouble with it grabbing hold of folders. Try shutting it down first. If that's not it, then I have no idea. This sounds like a Windows thing, not an OceanBlock thing.
I have a confession: I've never played one of those maps. I should give them a try.
Then prepare to die alot, as some of his stuff is crazy hard. Example 1? Eight Ghast spawners protecting one of your many goals. Thats right. Eight.
And that is one of his "nicer" maps. (Sea of flames) Don't get me started on the difficulties on his newest release, inferno mines.
If you had somewhere to host a map as a server, I'd be more than happy to give you a little tour of Sea of flames.
(Never, ever, EVER, trust Vechs. He is not to be underestimated. Even I still die to his "simpler" traps.)

I'm on a Minecraft Hiatus (You don't know how close I was to postponing this and Pancake until April!) until after the Game of Thrones premiere. I've got a ton of work to do on a podcast where we're recapping seasons 1 and 2, and I'm trying to get everything done before season 3 starts.
And after that, I'm going to start a let's play of the Pancake map. I'm essentially abandoning my OceanBlock series. It got its job done, mostly, and is woefully out of date now that 4.1 has come out.
However, I will be making an iron farm in the Pancake map, and I plan on making it in the way I described.

So it'll be a while, but I'll get to it.
Hey no rush! I watch lots of LPs, so I have plenty to keep me busy. I usually just have them running while I'm doing other things. I do very much look forward to seeing your guilt*-free iron farm though and I'm so glad that you decided NOT to postpone Pancake!
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
Okay the map is nice but how to get to the nether without the emergency equiP you cant mine obsidian with wood so how can i come to the nether without a Portal??
Yes, you'll obviously need a diamond pick to mine the obsidian and make the portal.
You can either mine 3 diamond ore with an iron pick (like you would on a normal survival world), or grow your village until a villager offers you a diamond pick in trade.
Sorry dunno what you mean how to get life in a village with nothing and how to get iron without iron ores i dunno how.. You could pm me so you dount need to spoiler someone else here :-)
No, it's cool. I like to leave it here in case this benefits anyone else, but hide it in a spoiler in case someone is trying to figure it out on their own.
Regarding villagers:
You start with 2 villagers on the map. If you create your own custom "village" for them, the villagers should have kids. If you've lost your original 2 villagers, you may have to start over, or use the villager eggs in the emergency chest
More detail:
Villagers multiply based on how many "houses" their village contains (it actually depends on the number of doors, so slap 2 or 4 or 8 doors on each house).
Certain kinds of villagers (blacksmiths) will trade you different tools for emeralds, and if you get enough villagers, you may eventually find one willing to trade you a diamond pick for 10 or 11 emeralds.
Other villagers will give you emeralds for resources you can grow on the island, like wheat or paper.
Regarding iron:
Without iron ore, there are still two ways to get iron ingots: Zombies and Iron Golems.
More detail:
Zombies will rarely drop iron ingots when you kill them (not when they die on their own), but this would probably take a very long time to get 3 ingots.
A better idea is to grow your village (see above) to the point where you have 21 or more doors and 10 or more villagers. Once your village is this large, iron golems will spawn.
Don't attack them directly, they will smash you dead, and also makes your villagers unhappy (which means future Iron Golems will be automatically angry). So either push them off to the bottom of the ocean, where they will just stand there while you kill them, or trap them and smother them with a stack of sand.
Okay thx that will help but one question more is it possible to get more Earthblocks? ^^ Dunno maybe you know how to generate them normally without mods or something else :-)
You talking about dirt blocks I assume?
Yes, there is an infinite supply of them, somewhere on the map.
Hint:
Bring scuba gear (metaphorcial, of course, Minecraft doesn't have actual scuba gear...)
But I have a question.. It's strange..
We need to do a lot of farms but we don't have some dirt..
How to do ?
Thanks..!
There is quite literally an infinite supply of dirt in the map. The closest dirt (other than the starting block) is less than 70 meters away from your spawn. Somewhere.
For more hints, read the post directly above yours

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?

Just started a new run this evening using 4.1. Got a decent sized platform so far with enough dirt to get three blocks in each biome plus 8 trees going (I start out with one of each tree plus an extra four of the oak tree - pretty quick growing and with five oaks, I get enough apples to keep me going. I'm building this one the same way as my last run with each corner color coded (jungle for jungle, spruce for taiga, oak for swamp and birch for mushroom) with a central spoke going out of the same color as an opposite corner, with the appropriate type tree in that central row. Oh, and using half slabs to keep monster spawns to a minimum, and I trapped the NPCs in a two block depression over the obsidian for now. And, wonder of wonders, I have one jungle tree and three more jungle saplings in the chest. Didn't even have to restart this run because I didn't get any jungle drops. Now it's about time to start collecting wood for my MegaVillage (named in honor of Megatrain for his design! ;))
Nice you have some screens? I juist staret collecting Dirt under the middle of The endless ocean
Sure, but there isn't much to see yet...
The first shot is my bed and NPC lockdown:
Next, this is the arm that will lead to the MegaVillage. You can see the ice filling the Taiga biome:
To the right of that is the spruce arm that will lead to the farm. I put a layer of spruce planks in there to remind me where the biome is until I fill it in with dirt. I will eventually fill it in and put a fence around each biome:
Next is the jungle wood arm that will eventually lead to my house:
Finally, here is the birch arm that will lead to the monster farm:
My plan is to make the various structures and/or their platforms out of the same material as the central stripe of each arm - thus the MegaVillage will be made from oak, the monster farm from birch, the platform for my house from jungle wood and the platform for the farm for crops and animals will be from spruce.
I do feel honored!
