Hey, 5thHorseman, I was wondering, would you like to do a let's play with me to get more people to play this map?
I've read the thread and all, it just seems quite boring playing alone.
My time is sporadic and sparse, and I just don't have the flexibility to do something like this. I'm also more of a fan of going alone in Minecraft.
If you do however do a LP of the map, I will happily watch it!

I'll send you a PM so you'll check this post out.
My skype is "sebastiaanbroers"
EDIT: If anybody else is interested, please add me on skype so we can play with a bigger group or if 5thHorseman isn't interested then I'll play with someone else I guess.
That does sound interesting, but I no longer have internet at my home and only been able to get on the internet at my local library, but when I am able to get internet back at home I might consider teaming up with someone for a let's play of this epic and awesome map.
We only failed the jutebox one, we know why but all the rest we have now finished! Me and my friend have been recording it so if you would like to see the channel is TheTurboBeast
also for the blaze farm if you watch my episode 7 you can see how we did it
Hmm, I might watch it later.
On another note, I've yet to make any progress on OB due to playing other games and recently had a job interview and other RL stuff which is causing my inability to play MC, but when I do get the time to play again, I'll post more pics of whatever projects i'll be finishing...
I was messing around on Oceanblock a little bit, but all I really accomplished was making a checklist of all the challenges I've yet to complete...(i'll put the list in a spoiler tag for those that would like to know what I've accomplished and have yet to do)
I also expanded my sugar cane farms so now each one gives a full stack of sugar cane, for a total of 2 full stacks each time is fully grown, which is good for those paper trades. When I find the time to get back on, I'll see which challenge I'll work on next. (I might try to get down to the blaze spawner and make a farm out of it.) But I've yet to figure out where the heck i'll build my house...

Oh, and here's a screenie of my newly expanded sugar cane farms.
Btw, it seems 1.6.1 is now live, but since I started this in 1.5.2, I think I'll stay using 1.5.2...and maybe start over with the new stuff for 1.6.1 unless you are planning on making a 4.3 or 5.0 or w/e you wanna call the new version 5thHorseman.

I don't have any immediate plans for a new version. The content in 1.6 doesn't really offer anything major enough to redo the map. Hoses are great, but they don't really have a place or need in a huge ocean

Do we know anything about the spawning rules for horses?
Would they (rarely) spawn in the plains biome of our island?

Too bad we can't craft horse armor
From what I'm reading, they will not spawn in the plains biome. They only spawn in newly created plains biomes, which this map never has. Well, it does, but they're covered in 60 meters of water
I don't even know if they'll spawn in Pancake Survival (though one could try. Just load up a fresh map and it'll generate a LOT of plains biomes right away) because there's never grass in a generated chunk.
What problems? I thought every problem was actually fixed. I know there were reported issues with slimes but I had no problem getting them in a test.
I have no immediate plans for a content update. OceanBlock is essentially completed from that standpoint.
Well well, my bad. I just read the OP and thought there was problems with slimes and zombie pigmen, but if everything's alright, you have my apology, I'll get straight back to my oceanic adventure then. ^^
well, no immediate plans for an oceanblock update huh? well in that case, I guess I have nothing to worry about and can take my time finishing the rest of the challenges in my lovely ocean island base.

Wisemen say forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza.
I know this isn't an immediate update, but for those who are playing on 1.6, might i suggest a few extra challenges?
Craft 16 of each Carpet, while keeping 16 of each wool stored
Craft a lead
Craft at least 8 of each Hardened Clay colour (Including the undyed colour)
Craft 16 Hay bales
Well I'm glad you didn't mention horses, as if anyone were playing this map prior to 6.1 and then upgraded. You wouldn't see any horses unless you somehow crafted a super annoying long bridge to newly created chunks.

Well, i upgraded to 1.6.2 merely in hopes of the supposed bug fix for animals escaping their pens...While I was building my house, I need to do some villager trades to get more redstone...after I got the redstone I needed from a Priest villager, I checked his trade screen again and saw this...
Well after I get my house built, I might make a new Tour Video showing all the progress I made...(I might actually talk in this one...lol)
I have a question, possible spoilers about biomes:
I've covered every biome in grass, except for the mushroom one, which I assume is the one furthest away from from the taiga one, as well as filling in grass between the biomes. Which, if I've done my maths correctly, means a 31x31 area, minus the part for the mushroom biome.
Now I'm trying to get animals to spawn, but I can't. What I do is this:
I wait for night, then I sleep. After that I immediately run away from the grass-area, roughly 50 blocks away. Then I just stand there all day, maybe do a bit of fishing, and once the sun goes down, I run home and sleep. But I can't seem to get anything to spawn by this.
Any suggestions? There's no trees/leaves or anything above my grass. There's no torches on the grass either, except for the ones placed on my fences that runs around the area. Since I only attempt to get them to spawn during daytime, I didn't imagine I'd need lighting.

I understand your dilemma. If you want Mooshrooms, you need grass in the mushroom biome. But If you can't get anything to spawn in the biomes I have a solution for you as it worked for me.
Get either NBTExplorer or MCEdit and change your default spawnpoint (aka the spot that the compass would point to) I assume that the spot you were using to camp and wait for stuff to spawn is a platform you made, and if thats the case, move the default spawnpoint to that spot. If you use NBTExplorer here are the instructions on how to move your default spawnpoint:
1) Open NBTExplorer
2) Open the folder which contains your Oceanblock map
3) Click the plus next to the level.dat
4) Click the plus next to Data
5) Change the X, Y, and Z coordinates to somewhere at least 25 blocks away. (Preferably on a solid structure, so if any other players want to join you in your map they don't spawn on the ocean floor)
6) Click the disk button to save your changes
7) Launch your game and load the map
8) Enjoy stuff spawning in the biomes!
I was afraid of having to do that, but I can see it's pretty easy, doesn't even require me to actually install anything.
Anyway, thanks. It works alright. I have a little trouble spawning certain animals, especially chicken, since ocelots seems to kill them off. I guess I just gotta be a little patient.
I don't see any slimes, however. Aren't those supposed to spawn too?

What i did about the ocelots, I built fences surrounding the jungle to keep them isolated in their biome.
About slimes, you'll have better luck building a slime farm near the ocean floor, the 4 chunks surrounding the center of the island are all slime chunks, so if you build them a platform for them to spawn on, you get more slime then slimer! (hehe, see what I did there?)
And your very welcome about showing how easy it is to fix the spawning issue. 5th Horseman, you are free to put those instructions in the OP or in a future readme.

It's actually already there, in a spoiler under the text "TO FIX SLIME SPAWNING:"
Though I *thought* you didn't have to do that any more, because I *thought* I fixed it. I know I saw LPs where guys got slimes and they never mentioned doing any hacking.
