Option 2! Idea!: Make each of the towns specialised, like you said before, like cheaper melons or cheaper seeds/carrots/potatoes or cheeper cocoa. That would be REALLY cool.
Hey i love this map and i played evvery harvest moon game so far even A new begining and i have to say if this map had a mod (marrige talk etc , it would be alot of work) I think this could be the #1 map/mod in the minecraft community (perhaps enough to make alot of donations?? $ = better? XD) but yea and command blocks bro command blocks, with custom spawners and everything in 1.5 this map will be awesome. I know its alot of work but keep it up man.
Very interesting map! I'm only saying this based on the screenshots and videos I've watched, but the way it's executed is really nice! Weirdly enough, I never thought about making Harvest Moon in Minecraft, but it seems to work wonders!
Also, my answer to the poll is the second option, simply because having plenty of choices is always nice - especially in Harvest Moon! So long as all the towns are eventually accessible, you should be able to decide where to start.
I'm at work! Stable internet connection! I'll see if I can't get anything done while Im here at work. The cable guys should be over at my place today/night so hopefully it'll all be running well come tomorrow. Luckily one of the bigger parts of the updates was being worked on by LoDs so you guys should really thank him. I should also update/put more in the OP...but ima work on the map for now instead - I think OP looks cluttered...
The first map, and what will be the easiest farm was based off Harvest Moon for the SNES the very first game. This town here will be based off the Harvest Moon GBC2. I have to balance mimicking the game with it looking decent in game + giving you room to creatively expand your house etc. I think I'm going to make the space between the house and the barn larger for just that reason. There are 2 buildings in HM GBC2, the sheep barn and the hothouse (Green house) that you have to get the carpenters to build for them to show up on your farm. I think maybe I should just build them in advance for you so they're there.
Still watching the poll it looks like everyone is leaning towards choose your own starting farm. With the other heavy majority towards start at farm one and advance. Granted if option two wins out the people who chose option one have ....well the option to just select the starter farm and work up
Here's a few pictures of what I got semi-done today, its just building the structures they aren't actually placed on the map yet, wanted to make sure I was sectioning off enough room first.
Nice work! Looking at the pics that show the rocks and branches you have to clear out at the start is making me all nostalgic. <3 I'm sure you are already going to do this, but I hope the new version is as challenging as the current one. It's frustrating but fun to have to get that many emeralds and emerald blocks to get anything done and I KNOW it's part of the reason I'm still playing. Cheers!

Don't worry I will be chalenging especialy that many secret chests with mighty items will be in new places! I heard we will get a two completly new sets of tools. In addition there will be new farm So new game version means new challenge!
Harvest moon is a Ladder type game- you buy, sell, get richer and progress - that's why we love it so much!
At the minute we are working hard to make prices more balanced, and believe me... That's not easy work!
Sounds awesome! Thanks for all of the care and hard work you guys are doing on this series! I love to play these maps, but I couldn't imagine making one!

Alright, spoke with LoDs and we're goign to build the Sheep barn and the Hothouse in the GBC2 game and Irondoor/Lock them. Obviously you can make a lever or pressure plate and get in them beforehand. But I figure if you guys are going to cheat, you'll do it anyway.
That's the heads up for now. Yeah, balancing the prices is the most difficult part. Taking out all the current hidden items to be re-distributed as well. There will be .. I'm thinking 10 in each town/farm area so each PowerBerry Garden will have 10 Power Berries (Ferns) you can gather and plant.
Also as we've swapped over to 1.5 now i'm building exclusively in LoDs' texture pack (which looks hideous in any other txt pack) So that will be included in the downloads now.
Just played the map for a few hours, and I love it!
The only thing that bugs me is the severely unbalanced trading. I found I could easily make money by selling milk for 10 emeralds each. Once you have a cow all you need to do is make a ton of buckets fill with milk, and voila, stacks of emerald! Lapis and arrows also seemed rather overpowered. Oh, and livestock is really expensive, maybe you could lower the cost and/or give one of each breed at the start.
Overall I really enjoyed playing it, and I'm looking forward to the update!
How you make money is go to the mine mine a massive amount of cobble then sell it
Yeah I re-balanced the price that you get in return from Logs and Cobble, but didnt update the map as we began working on massive changes. Since 1.5 came out kind of cruising. Hopefully well have something out soon. I think we're going to do 1st release with only the one new town and farm with the 3rd soon to follow.

Oh, and is there a place I can buy/find reeds?
I've been playing for quite awhile, granted, I split my playtime between several of my favorite maps, but I've yet to even be able to afford a cow lol. Maybe once you've put the time in to be able to get a cow, it's supposed to get easier? Not sure, but I am one of those people who gets bored easily if things are too easy to acquire and I've not had that problem on this map. I do agree, however, that once you get a cow the fact that you can milk infinitely as long as you have buckets does make the emerald trade for milk overpowered. It's going to be quite awhile before I get a cow though. I finally got a chicken and after multiple attempts at egg throwing just got a mate, and was quite pleased with that accomplishment. xD

I guess me being the hoarder at heart I didn't think people would be willing to give away all that iron, then again I guess it's not too limited in supply...regardless it will be fixed. Target release date is Saturday. Hopefully.

I'm the worst hoarder in MC. xD I've NEVER used up a diamond pick. Like... never. So I never have more than three buckets and that's only if I have to make a cake! Honestly, I now don't think that the trade is overpowered because I wasn't taking into account that you lose your bucket in the milk trade. So I guess anyone is willing to make "infinite" buckets they can get a lot of emeralds. I don't think most people would do that though. Iron is my favorite metal type resource, even over diamond, personally.
