Only had the one bit of nether wart land on my head when I arrived though. Nether wart could be a problem on this map. If you miss it when you arrive, you may not be able to find any others.
Yeah, I had this issue as well- I noticed several things fall when I first started traveling through the nether. If you look around when you first get there, you'll see that the netherwart is actually on netherbrick which I assume to be a simple mistake in the filter. Though an easy fix for this if you're generating your own version of the map in MCEdit is to open it up in notepad++ and go down to line 56. Change the data value at the end to 88 so that the nether wart is placed on soul sand! I have not checked this personally, but I believe that will take care of it. I also recommend using a previously posted change that prevents liquid source blocks from being updated if you're a tad OCD like me and would rather avoid all the water and lava falls!
For the people asking about varied distances between the blocks: If you use the MCEdit fliter as opposed to the pre-defined map itself, you are able to set your own distance between each of the blocks in the grid, so you can either shorten the distance to make the jumps easier or increase it to make things more challenging.
That aside, this was a fantastic idea for a map, and I have loved playing on it! After looking over the python script, I may start learning some myself. For now I only have a little over a year's worth of experience with Java, but Python definitely looks intriguing!
Edit:
Okay, I went ahead and made my own tweak to Kalak's version of the filter. In his, the grid would have required a gridlength of 4 to properly check if a cactus or reed was below a water/lava source block. I fixed this and fixed the data value for soul sand, so nether wart will now spawn properly!
Make a new world, however many chunks large as you plan to play on.
Crtl + A to select all, click the fill tab, select air, fill to clear the map
Run the filter, selecting your desired gridlength
Switch to the nether, do the same process except change the overworld option to the nether in the filter settings.
Due to recent changes in my Minecraft custom map rating scale, I have rerated all SURVIVAL maps for better distribution within that category. Maps are on the same numeric rating scale as the rest, but the 'average' rating for that category is now set differently.
As a result, the rating for 'SkyGrid' has been increased from 15 to 19 (out of 20).
This map really got me hooked, I'm very involved in it at the moment. I don't mind the water/lava falls. I'm not too happy to hear about the netherwart issue but might be able to patch my save game with a new version of the nether (I have not gotten to it yet).
Double-tap jump!
Look for CHESTS. Mine OVERHEAD, every time - don't miss resources. Check BELOW if mining down (in case of lava / missing blocks!)
You need to develop a whole bunch of new strategies, even for very experienced users. Highly reccomended.
Kinda sad now... Seems that my computer can't handle the map. It keeps crashing. :L
My computer witch is several years old doesn't crash, but I have about 3 fps on this map so i cant sprint. almost as bad. is there some version of the map where you don't need to sprint
Nice map, found one of the bonus chests already (a diamond hoe.. that's almost a troll item there )
anyway.. talk about the destroyer of systems though. Not a slouch of a machine* and it's struggling once in a while to keep up with the mod.
still: love the map so far. My only (albeit small) complaint is the lack of Redpower copper and tin ores and an included config.
just got my first cobble gen running (go block breakers!) and it's time to go exploring for diamond.
*GTX 460 and a overclocked i5-760, usually manages 40fps without sweating. (have it at that setting)
edit: Came up with a personal goal: get to the mainland. The "rules" say using the nether is cheating but doesn't say anything about in the overworld.
edit2: ok.. SOMEONE here is a moron. (guess who?) Totally didn't see the "tweaked" script. (Thanks LordChris!) Attempting to re-build the world now but so far it's not going well. Keeps going *bang* in the middle of the Recording Undo stage.
edit3: ah HAH! got it. just had to grab an unofficial 64-bit build. the crashes were it running out of memory it could allocate (2Gig limit on a 32-bit app)
Commented out IC2 copper and tin as the Redpower stuff is fine. (plus I also have the IC2 stuff disabled on this install)
Good grief.. an hour to complete the lighting pass after it generated.
Steve : Oh god, I finally escaped the skyblock.
Steve enters the magical exit and goes to a new world and spawns on skgrid.
Steve: Are you friggin' kidding me!!!!!!
Boo! Going to have to do it the "old way" by converting resources I find with EE. (after spawning copper, tin, apatite, etc.. with NEI then teaching it to the table then destroying the spawned item)
Minecraft hates the new version I generated. Keeps going blue and half-crashing.
I didn't have anny issues after generating a world with IC2 and RP blocks. Since you are not using IC2 it might be the cause of the crashes. I removed all code fragments related to IC2, blocks spawns and saplings in chests. You can give a try to this filter: http://www66.zippyshare.com/v/43460620/file.html. You might want to add Apatite Ore as well (I dont know its id :P).
That's the thing: I am using IC2, I just disable IC2 ore spawns as doubling up on the copper and tin with both IC2 and RP2 gets really nuts in worlds. When one disables IC2 ore spawns it doesn't register the ore blocks. I'm sure you can see the problem there.
Apatite is (thankfully) half-optional in Forestry, there's other ways around it.
Seth, this map is brilliant. I've been watching LPs of it and really want to have a go myself. HOWEVER, I completely fail at parkour. I've been trying to use MCEdit to lower the gap between blocks so that it's playable for me. Unfortunately, I must have chosen the wrong options in 'Create A World' because the filter button was redded out.
Could someone please post step-by-step instructions to create a world save that includes the smaller block gap? I'd really appreciate it!

Probably easier to just download the existing world, select the grid area then run the filter against that.
Note you may need the 64-bit version of MCedit to do this as it slurps up a LOT of ram.
Give me an hour or so and i'll generate a version with a distance of 3.
edit: One Link, hold the mayo.
Looks a bit odd. Just realized I totally forgot to do the nether.. Meh, by the time you can get there you should have a cobble gen running anyway.
Then if you dont have such mods, your game will crash when trying to load the map
Game won't crash, It just won't load the mod's blocks. I had computercraft stuff on a normal world once and when I didn't have computercraft, the computercraft blocks were gone.
(P.S bump!)
I mean using the fast-travel aspect of the nether to get back into the main world far enough that new terrain generates.

You can download the filter here: http://www.mediafire.com/?98mo86u3636poxa
To use the fliter, for those who don't know:
Make a new world, however many chunks large as you plan to play on.
Crtl + A to select all, click the fill tab, select air, fill to clear the map

I've given myself a challenge, to kill the Enderdragon on this map (completely legit, no mods) without dying a single time.
