I'll have to stop work in this map, disinterest has been pretty low lately anyways, sorry. It's something I really enjoyed doing while it lasted, now I'm moving on to some other projects. If you're interested, you can check out my profile page to find my various projects.
200 years ago, a lost boat crew landed on a deserted jungle island. They built a massive treehouse to survive until rescue came, but it never did. After a few years, they decided to go investigate some ruins in front of their treehouse's entrance, and they never returned...
Five years ago, you found yourself stranded on this same island after your ship crashed. There was no other survivors. You discovered this same treehouse, not knowing what happened to the previous owners. You lived in it while waiting for rescue. Again, it never came. The treehouse was so big, you didn't explore it fully, even after so long.
You started to hear strange noises a few weeks ago, and came to live in a nearby cave until they went away. It's been too long now, you must go investigate in the depths of the treehouse, and perhaps in those ruins...

Rules are in-game, so remember to read them.
Known Bugs
On some saves, spiders will occasionally step on the pressure plates of the entrance of the boss room, making it malfunction.
On some saves, the monster spawners may stack up mobs and spit them all out at once, making it sometimes difficult or even impossible. Needs a redesign.
In the parkour room, if you miss and fall, you will have an extremely hard time to get back up.
Some parts of the storyline in the map are poorly written and may be difficult to understand.
PLEASE INSTALL THE .CLASS FILE IN THE DOWNLOAD TO PREVENT CREEPER DESTRUCTION.

Yeah, I got two thing to say:
This map isn't made for hard difficulty, since the spawnrate is extremely concentrated in the rooms (you can check for yourself by going into creative and flying away from it).
Also, the double-chests full of resources are checkpoint/refill chests (the ones with redwool beneath them). Too many people don't see this, so I'll have to make a quick update today to fix that.
I'll also post these notes on the main thread, so everybody can see them. Again, thanks for the LP!

I think your the only one (that I know of) who actually took attention in details (i.e. difference between checkpoint/refill chests and a regular treasure chest). Thanks!
Seems interesting. I'm not really fan of having to do everything over and over for each update, so I'll wait for it to be bigger.
The map is designed in a way that if you played it before a certain update is released, you can just skip a section without it having an impact on gameplay. So don't worry about that.

Yet another update while waiting for 1.3 (June 21, 2012)
Hey there everyone, here is yet another update while we wait for 1.3.
It seems like 1.3 will only come out in a couple of weeks or more from now, so updating this map is getting slow. What I've decided to do is publish v4.0 ahead of time, without the 1.3 content of course, so I won't keep you waiting longer. It should get released within three days.

In other news, I've been working a little bit on V4.0, since it uses 1.3 content, it's a bit slow since I don't have access to mods. Don't worry, though, it should be released within a week from the update.

I kinda lied the other day about completing V4.0, I still have quite a while to go. This is going to be a massive update, which people will probably want to re-experience. From adding entirely new areas to modifying some spawners, it's going to come around Minecraft 1.3.

It's been quite a while (over 2 weeks) since my last update, so I think it's time to update the time, even though Minecraft 1.3 isn't on. V4.0 will require a snapshot of 1.3, so use V3.4 or lower if you're still playing on 1.2. It will be adapted to the sequel, Secrets of the Jungle II, and will use books to remove the WALLS OF SIGNS. V3.4 has been released! (May 9, 2012)
Yes, another V3 update, I know. I've just discovered a few bugs, which kinda sucks, since I said it was bug-free. Anyways, the bed spawn problem has been fixed in multiplayer, and also these changes:
Modifications to some rooms in the treehouse, including new windows
Added some easter eggs!
A few other changes, like fixing malformed trees
Also, guess what I just found! 4 undeclared LPs on youtube, and counting! Remember to post them on this thread if you want me to add them to the list, since I don't always search for them!
About V4.0 and download milestone (May 7, 2012)
So, I've released V1.0 of Secrets of the Jungle II yesterday, so that means I can start working on V4.0 of this first map for Minecraft 1.3 (V2.0 of the other one will come by around Minecraft 1.3 too). This version will include an updated spawn cave, using books instead to develop the story, and I'm going to add lots of easter eggs and new side-challenges. Remember to follow the thread to be updated!
One other thing, we've passed a very good milestone since two weeks ago. We now have 500+ downloads! Thank you so much!

V3.3 has been released! Updates on SOTJ2 (May 3, 2012)
In this update, I've added/modified the treehouse, and fulfilled one LPer's request:
Added two rooms in the treehouse
Modified content of some chests in the treehouse
Updated the LPer list
Fixed and improved the boss triggers
Also, a quick update on SOTJ2 (SJ2). I don't want to reveal too much, so I won't post any screenshots today. I would like however, still make at least an update everyday. So I got about 20 minutes of gameplay worked out, so it should be released by the due date, maybe even sooner! We'll see.

I've decided to upload a screenshot of the spawn in Secrets of the Jungle II, which should be released in 2-3 weeks.
Anyways, remember that "the beach entrance collapsed" in the story? Well, here's a view from the beach that heads into the spawn of the first map:
The second map will also require a much bigger custom mod to be played, which modified some textures and block properties. Creepers will still not blow up blocks, nor damage the player, sadly.
V3.2 has been released! (April 30, 2012)
There was a lot of bugs (again) in V3.1, including mob spawning toggle errors (in the boss room, which would let you skip it) and since some people were cheating by skipping it by using the gold from the treasure room, I added a trash can that prompts people to get rid of it before entering the room.
Also, I'm working on a new map, "Overglobe", which is to be released by next weekend (full release). After that, it's a straight shot to Secrets of the Jungle II, so it's going to be a while! This map is also to be updated when Minecraft 1.3 comes out to V4.0.
Information about Secrets of the Jungle II (April 30, 2012)
I've already started! The sequel of this story is much bigger and more challenging, and I'm working heavily on aesthetics and multiplayer-compatible special effects with the help of redstone and "physics". The first version, which will include about 45-60 minutes of gameplay, will be released sometime in the latter half of May (May 16-31). If that's not enough of a date for you, please PM me for a more exact one.
Also, as you can see, the download counter hasn't updated since V2.1 was released. Even though I have around 500 of them by now, the counter on fileswap.com wasn't updating at all, and it blocked at 58 downloads from V2.1. I hope that will be fixed soon.

I've decided to released V3.0 this weekend, as many people have asked me to do ASAP.
I would have liked to be able to use the new writable books to replace walls of text, and to fix some annoying lighting errors which ruined one of the challenges, so please install this week's snapshot, 12w17a, if your computer can handle it (you should be able to, there was lots of performance improvements in it).
It is important to note, V3.0 will be the last major update, or storyline update, since we're nearing the end, there will be an actual Secrets of the Jungle 2. It will be open-sky, which means you'll have a REAL island to explore, it will be almost exactly the same rooms, but with new passages, and lots of new aspects. I hope you will try it out!

This update is just a quickfix, but there was some major bugs in v1.1, which are a broken spawnrate (no mobs were spawning) and a broken preview (missing signs, graphical glitches for 1.2.4).

I'm working on finishing the ruins, and in the following update, the end of the map. Consider the treehouse as a "training grounds" for the map, as the upcoming areas will features much more complex fighting and some puzzles. I will also not fix the annoying spawnrate in the treehouse, since it any modification would completely brake it (see v1.2).

So just in case you didn't want to go through the treehouse again, just spawn a pickaxe and dig into the cave/ruin (there's the same checkpoints with the same chests and items).
