PLOT TWIST, it's permanently day, and the map's nether biome jk.
And since you were asking, it's 16 Wool and 3 Metal Blocks, an hour or two in playtime.
I'ma mis-type your name every time, just to make you mad. >:3 And then after I beat Sync on Hard 100% I'll have the right to walk around here like I own the place.
Don't you forget about me. I WILL finish Sync on hard even if it takes me 100 tries.
Kajex has said that the map will be infinite respawn, so what he forgets is that we can have infinite tries at the areas, therefore making every area (Yes, even the later ones) possible for even those of lower skill levels. The only way you WOULDN'T be able to win is if you rage quit.
If you fall in the void early on and lose all your stuff, there is basically no way you can continue. Then you'd have to restart.
As for ragequitting, I hope the map will make you think more about ragequitting than any other map.
I'm going to assume Jekax won't be a total jerk and give us at least a nice amount of wood at the start if not a renewable source.
It takes a lot to get me to rage quit, and I think that'll be my main advantage on Sync. If I don't give up, I can never lose. (Unless he limits the wool in fleecy boxes to a low number. I don't think he would only give us one wool per fleecy box, but you never know with this series)
Dammit! I didn't notice that. Did enough change between versions for it to be worth redoing it? I will do so if it did; can't have illegitimate runs on my channel!

Of course there's not infinite gear, so it can become impossible if you lose too much by the time you get to the point where enemies will one-shot an unarmored player. Particularly in the I5 areas, a couple of which become more difficult the more you die.

The only two changes are that the spawners are raised so they can't be destroyed and the diamond block is moved one block out so a speed potions is needed to jump over. The only real reason I can think of to redo the run would be so the potion spawners actually can have an effect.

Oh. Mommy please help me. Guess I'm going to have to play VERY carefully. What I meant was, I hope to god you give us at least one sapling. If not, this is going to be harder than I expected. D:

The player gets an infinite supply of tress right off the bat, along with a large supply of food if they don't utterly screw up.

Okay, so from what I understand this is how Sync works.
You get infinite BASIC tools, but as you progress the need for better loot increases, therefore requiring you to have decent gear to continue. You can go through the Inverted areas to get better loot for later areas, increasing your chances of survival late-game. If you die to much however, any chance you had of victory is gone late-game. So basically, Sync is going to be the most ingeniously difficult map ever created, VERY neat and scary.
Good luck, you'll need it. I don't think many people like Kejax, but I do. The sheer difficulty of these maps made me squee out of pure joy when I first played Dragonstone Keep.
Just planning out the logistics of Sync and wanted to get some input on a few things. Much appreciated!
1. Do you like gear to have a definitive ranking? Sounds good to me, it doesn't really change much, it just gives players an easy way to tell what's better.
2. Do you prefer to create your own base, have a pre-made one, or a hybrid (small pre-made base that can be used while building one)? I like it when mapmakers give you the option of both. I'd say pull a spellbound caves and give the player an unfinished base or something.
3. Do you prefer to farm or explore for supplies? Once again, I'm at a standstill on this. Farming supplies is nice and allows you to prepare without leaving the comfort of your base, but exploration allows you to make progress and save time otherwise spent on farming all in one.

1. Do you like gear to have a definitive ranking? Looks interesting, would like to see it implemented but not for every item 2. Do you prefer to create your own base, have a pre-made one, or a hybrid (small pre-made base that can be used while building one)? I like building bases so I would prefer just some chests with building supplies but I guess for those who don't enjoy building as much, a small pre-made one with supplies could work. 3. Do you prefer to farm or explore for supplies? I think there should be a balance of both, but I'm ok with anyone of them.

1. I love the idea of ranked loot as perhaps a super rare drop from mobs, gives the maps a bit of an MMO feel to them.
2. I honestly don't like to waste time building random crap. Pre-made base is best really, but no need for anything too flash.
3. Both. As I said in 1 the notion of grinding for awesome gear rocks, but a nice supply of stuff in chest is helpful too.
Ima so gonna do a Sync LP once I'm done with my Inferno Mines one.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
SH maps beaten: Sea of Flame II, Infernal Sky II, Kaizo Caverns, Nightmare Realm, Sunburn Islands, Spellbound Caves, Waking Up and counting....
sigh.... just crossed the attempt #200 threshold on Tectonicide. Dude, Xekaj, the falling speed creepers explode on impact if they fall near you. So many random unavoidable deaths. Not fun. Not fun at all. It's gonna be a 20 minute death montage for a map that takes 5 minutes to complete
On a side note: Anyone have a trick/tactic for completing Tectonicide?

There ain't much left of the world these days. The gods have forsaken us, there's no denying that. But still you press on. For what? A chance to sift through the ashes one last time? The hope to one day be called a hero? Whatever your reason, you've got a lot of work to do. The corruption won't leave without a fight, so you better get started.

Man, 200, that's some determination.
I believe I created Tectonicide back in 1.3 when creepers didn't aerial bomb, so you can try that if they're really an issue.
There's two viable strategies that I have:
1.
Just walk in the beginning while there's not many creepers in order to conserve hunger. Stick to the inner edge of the outer land ring and the few creepers there are won't detect you, and the ones that do can be knocked away easily. Usually you don't have to sprint until after getting one or both wool, at which point you'll easily have enough hunger to run back. Knock the creepers trailing off the thin bridges and you'll be home free from there.
2.
Same as above though collect TNT out of the ground while walking to the wool. There's one particular part of the outer ring that can be bridged back to the altar fairly easily but pillaring 2 blocks up (to prevent trailing creepers) and then straight across.
So now its hardcore? Oh no...

well thats my play style sacrificing a few times but totally annihilating the area once half of it is lit. I have confidence for sync :3
btw I didn't just post this for a page get, but ... PAGE GET
Well that took a surprising amount of time for someone who's played both impossible maps
Furries are cool.

Run. Don't stop. Don't look back.
Also getting really lucky never hurts.
