Step 4:
???...PROFIT! and enjoy your awesome cave.
(Wasn't infinite fire spread supposed to be disabled by the way...?)
Oh, and the name's now changed to "Frostflare <something>"
I had a strange image of a spire-like castle surrounded by a combination of lava and water pop into my head yesterday, so I was compelled to make this. It's made as the sequel to Dragonstone Keep, (which I'm now making a sub-series) so it follows a lot of the same gameplay mechanics as in the first, of course with some new and very original stuff thrown in. If you like the first, you'll most likely like this one as well.
I also made it in only 3 hours, which begs the question of whether these could become a very frequent, maybe even weekly thing. Of course I would only do this if the time constraint doesn't have an impact on the quality/make me rush it by obligation, but it might be something I consider for the near future.
Anyways...
Here's the repost of the download for convenience, enjoy!:
This fortress of light, fueled by the eternal flame has guarded the great treasures against the darkest of the depths. Tendrils of the purest glowstone spread across the caverns walls, purifying the evil they shroud. Igneous demons float above the blazing lake while ghoulish monstrosities roam the forsaken ruins nearby, vigilant of the rare adventurer.

(The next one I'll be doing will be "Flameflare Tendrils")
Mmmmm, I like this and you made it in three hours?! Amazing
I've got a bit burned out on minecraft so my playthrough of IQ Agillity will be delayed...

Ah, no worries! Take as long as you need.
I'm trying out the whole "one map a week" thing, so here's this weeks map! It's combination of atypical CTM themes and ideas, hence the 3 classifications. One of the very few themes I've seen used are snow and ice, let alone any that are executed in a way that is actually unique. So I though I'd try it out, make the 'coldness' really pop as a core element. Let me know what you think, and enjoy!

Description:
»»» 3nd map of the Dragonstone Series
These twisted, icy depths reach far below the inferno that is the nether. Where only source of warmth comes from the leaking magma through the cavern roof. The perpetual winter and unworldly terrain claims the lives of many adventures, each torn apart by the harsh wind currents and transformed into the countless undead that haunt these grounds. The fire seeping from above also brings many riches, attracting more to their sure demise.

Originally "Flameflare Tendrils," this freezing hellscape started as a burning cave with lava floating eerily through the air. However the original design was too typical, as more 'fire' related caverns tend to be.
Thus I decided on the polar opposite, "Frostflare Tendrils" which would be an cold cave combined with the same ethereal lava formations creating a contrasting sight.
When I set out to create the general layout of the map I was left with a confusing mass of snow and ice with little or no places to anchor the crucial tendril formations. As they were primarily an aesthetic touch in this variation, I forewent then and opted to add lava as light for the ceiling, creating the final design "Frostflare Depths".
I've fiddled around a bit trying to decide the theme for the next weekly map, and I think I've finally got a unique one I'm satisfied with. I like creating these is because they give me a chance to try out new, never before used techniques in a small and free environment. In Dragonstone I used Enderdragons to carve out the cave (and to give it the name). In Frostflare I burned away the entire cavern from a canvas of wool. And now, I'll be using a lot of explosions, and I'm not talking about the wimpy little blocks that are TNT.
So here's what I have planned, in rough order of sequence:
I tried out the Frostflare map and it wasn't as bad as I thought. After the beginig you can tunnel a lot and then make small snowbridges. I managed to get the cyan wool and I also found a couple of diamonds in the sleeping quaters. With them I made a diamond sword and enchanted it with all my levels (18 or 19), I got sharpness II and knockback I. Then when I was walking on one of my small snow bridges my computer lagged a bit (probably because of all the snowballs), and whoops I was in the middle of the air falling and SPLAAT!.......
I got everything. All 3 portal frames, the wool, the block(s) and placed some roses down to make it look pretty. Not to mention the record which doesn't exist. Xek!
Simple map, alright to go around and fun dungeon and the iron golems were a nice touch but sadly PLAYERCREATED TAG WHY.

Aw, sounded like the worst was over anyways. At least the map succeeded in its design.

Congrats on winning and congrats on bonus completion! Sorry about the lack of record, I think I accidentally overwrote the container with a last minute WorldEdit command and didn't realize its contents had been erased. I'll be getting a v1.1 out soon to add it and to fix the golems.
And by fix I mean fixing the NBT tag and adding a few more buffs.
I noticed that I haven't shown any teaser screenshots recently, mainly because the map's done by the time I normally would. So here's something that I started today, might get done tomorrow.
10/10 in 1.2.5 is a 5/10 compared to the devious things in 1.3.
I wouldn't be so sure, I've managed to cram in quite a few Hyper Mobs, Bedrock Fortifications, and lava walls in here. Also, last I checked you'll still die falling out of the world in 1.3, and can't place blocks on furnaces ;).
Hello, here to reassure everyone that I haven't forgotten about this stuff! I ended up working on 3 or 4 maps at once hence the delay in Mini-Map #5. I've also finally decided on a full sized map that I'm interested in enough to finish, Metadicium!.
Speaking of Mini-Map 5:
I'm going to attempt to showcase a good deal of it's creation process for YouTube.
Looking back I think I'm going to scrap all the former work I've done on Apocalyptic Inferno and completely redo it when I start on it again. It's interesting to see how quickly my style and ideal quality has changed just between then and now.
I'll begin when all the tools/mods for 1.3.1 come out, and in the mean time do some updates and finish the projects I already have started.
And pictures, because why not:
Hm, let's see, anything else I wanted to say? Oh yeah, I'm also starting to make a trailer (took me a month to find music I was happy to use).
Finally finished Fog of Demise with bonus disk... xD
-snip-
You're one crazy son of a *****, you know that? T_T
Okay so new changes... needs Charged Creepers, and add the Blindness effect to the player for even worse vision. No swords, and only a half a stack of arrows.

So here's what I have planned, in rough order of sequence:
•Mini-Map #05: Edgestorm Rift
•███████ #01: Venator
•Mini-Map #06: Stormedge Limit
•Map #01: Metadicium
•███████ #01: Establishment
And the stuff I'll just get to...
•Boss Battle: Fang and Venom
•Mini-Map: Tenebrium Canias ;)
•CTW: Dynamo Forge
•RFW: Espionage
So that's what you can look forward to!
Tommorow.
Awesome, which one are you trying? Let me know what you think of it.
this will be nice

Rating? 10/10 unfair. Yeah.

You can't reach the chest with bonus disk, because it's 1 block lower than other chests in map.
I don't know is it intended or not.
Ah, thanks for letting me know! I fixed it in v1.2 and put the download for it in the OP.
